You wouldn't be feeling like this if you were delivering catalogues. Look how many people on here are in debt because of them. You're bunging a piece of paper through someones door. You're not making them read it or act upon it. There are many other companies around with huge TV advertising campaigns offering exactly the same service. Hold your head up high and be proud that you are prepared to do whatever it takes to ensure your daughter gets the best upbringing you can possibly provide.
2000 leaflets is an awful lot of walking! As a kid I had one of the 1p paper rounds (now thats slave labour) 400 papers used to take 3 of us 2 hours, mind you half of that was in the village shop trying to work out what to blow our hard earned cash on.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Hello,
thanks to Mum2 & Moo2 for your supportive comments :A .
Well, needs must  today I found out that the business has lost another 2 customers this week, one of which was minefortunately not a big money earner but regular bread & butter type.
I went to do some shopping at T's  & spent nearly £41 in total; £ 22.50 on food & another £18.30 on household & groceries but we wont need loo rolls for a while  . Interesting watching how other people shop, I chose a more expensive brand of loo rolls as there were 12 in the pack for £4.49 & loads of other people just grabbed the own brand packs of 9 for £4.50, people just assume it's the cheapest. I then went to local farm shop to get some fruit & veg & spent another £ 6.35.
So, I'm over my january grocery budget & will go over more before the end of the month but as it was a 5 week month I shall forgive myself. I still havent bought any biscuits & got a huge bag od value oats so we can make batches of twinks hobnobs. DD cant wait to the end of the month, we havent bought any sweets or chocolate as promised
( Still no thinner though  )
Got home to find a sad & pathetic letter from bluddy Capital One; aaaah poor things, it seems that it's costing them more to lend money so in order to maintain their profit they've 'had' to increase my interest rate to 22.88 % . I am utterly seething & very nearly called cccs to throw in the towel & go on the DMP route but then thought of all of you & how you keep me motivated so just swore & stamped a bit instead    .
With the extra job I can still manage to overpay significantly enough to make it worthwhile & with each payment I make at least if a DMP does become necessary then the amount owed will be less
Cannot tell you how glad I am that I've booked those flights already with the interest rise of nearly 10 % as from march. We're gong to visit grandmother on sunday so have bought some lovely hot cross buns & chocolate cakes for her.
It is soooo cold here with a bitter wind I need to go & make more coffee to warm up,
bye for now

You mean not everybody reads the cost per 100 sheets?
I'm even sadder than I thought

Rosa xx
sad maybe, but not alone.
Thought I'd pop in for an update because i'm just sooo sick of getting my glad rags on & going out partying on a friday night :rotfl: .
I rang the lovely Cap One & chose option 2 (not phone a friend  ) which means that I get to the keep the interest rate as it is on the condition that i a) promise to pay the minimum every month  - tried hard to explain to man from other side of world that I've been overpaying by at least £100 a month for the last year & have NEVER missed a payment, what a terrible way to show how they value me- Sadly this fell of deaf ears because he's obviously reading from a script with a gun to his head & dare not deviate from the words allowed
b) promise to not use it again until the balance is cleared - bang goes my plan to balance transfer then
c) when the balance is cleared I must send them back the card - didnt bother to point out that i will now only pay the minimum & so card will not only have expired but probably biodgraded too
The only saving grace is that my credit rating remains unblemished - big whoopee  .
This now means that if, I repeat, if I wish to try & keep credit untarnished I have to switch my payments around to clear Barclaycard first. Really not sure whether to bother as I have a sneaking suspicion that Cap One may well be in trouble rather than just being greedy & that all credit facilities as previously existed may well be worthless until recession over & then new shiny credit will be avaialble to all so what the hell is the point anyway ?
I'm not sure why I am trying to keep up with payments & doing it the hard way when I could so easily just pay £50 a month rather than £300 odd... other than the fact that it still seems wrong. But is it really wrong ? Barclay card gave me a credit increase of over 5000 % yes, that's right 5000 % in the space of 5 years without once asking if my income had increased - it hasnt or I'd be earning about £600,000 :rotfl: so should I be scrimping & saving to clear it or should I take the easy option & play the 'single parent on low income & working tax credit card'; get the CCCS to sort it all out for me & not worry anymore
.
How long do I keep this going for & how will I know when it's time to give in ?
Off to drink more wine now...0 -
I don't understand
Are they saying you can only pay the minimum amount and no overpayments? Surely they not allowed to say that, it puts people further into debt? I would definitely go with overpaying the other card if that's the only other option, don't forget to factor in the extra funds you are going to have. If you have had to promise not to use the cap one card it's a good idea to pay the b/card in case you need the available balance later. Can you get a life of balance transfer with b/card and move some over form cap one? Or save up until you have enough to pay the cap one card in one go, they may not be happy with the overpayment, but you won't be their customer any more the second after it is done. Hope this makes sense. Haven't even opened the wine yet:D

Hi sarah,
it's madness isnt it  . I can overpay the the card without penalty, it's just so stupid as the minimum is £75 & I've been paying over £200. It seems to me that basically they're saying I can either keep the card to use & accept the apr increase, or refuse the apr & no longer have use of the card. I'm not going to be bullied into accepting a higher rate of interest - just not that desperate to have credit thanks . It is a pain because of my cunning plan but in the long term it will be their loss & according to a thread over on the CC board, I wont be the only one to say no thank you.
The Barc card is stuck at an even higher rate ( they wont reduce unless account is frozen) & have already tried to transfer to another provider but in spite of unblemished credit record ( so far)I've been turned down for transfers ( possible due to renting & working for a sole trader & not earning a huge amount). Now just need to find £240 to pay Barc by 2nd Feb :eek:0
