Ooh ooh new guests for the Quest,
Hello & welcome to both Waspeze & Mum2one :hello:
Waspeze - well done so far & yes, I have a large pile of wood behind the shed that needs chopping, so grab an axe & get goingwhen you've finished that, there's a whole hedge to be hacked at. I reckon I can get you through the first 5 months easy
. Hmmm, wonder why all this stuff needs doing if I managed to get through 5 months
oh yeh - I ate biscuits
.
Bathroom still in the process of being a scooby doo mystery site, but everywhere else very clean & tidy. Now need another trip to dump to get rid of stuff though - xbf's big old booming stereo anyone ? huge old silver corner tv shelf ? Barbie roller skates ?
I've had a NSD today & the bank balance is ok, unfortunately the deposit for car insurance didnt go through so had to whack it on the cc  better than not being insured though.
Gotta go collect DD from art club now, so chat amongst yourselves & I'll be back ....

Morning everyone & what a beautiful bright crisp sunny one too
While I sit here with my head covered in  ....... sorry about that, as I typed I realised that my time was up - anyway now back to being a glossy brunette again with no 'shimmering' at the roots  .
Anyway, was going to say that I've found todays chocolate on mi-info now have 558 points & also 445 points on i-points, seems to me they are the same points & would be handy if they could somehow be amalgamated n'est ce pas ?
Had a call from Dad last night to say that he hadnt been expecting me to give him the money for old car... & he's sending me a cheque. I'm delighted of course but :shhh: not entirely surprised as this is a 'technique' that's been perfected over many years
. Against all sensibility I'm not going to throw it at the debts but will add it to the savings / emergency fund. It's now been confirmed that boss is closing the business over christmas so no pay between 24th December to 9th January  . Frankly I'm relieved as can then enjoy some time off & hoping to invite myself & DD to visit dear friend in Cornwall
.
The boss has told my friend/colleague that the business is close to going bust but I'm not taking any notice as I know damn well that she isnt, as rather than going out to do the collections herself & then completing the work herself, she's spending all day playing with her 3 horses  . Her accountant is telling her this as the books look terrible - largely due to the fact that she never puts any cash paying customers through the books & just pockets the lot. Friend & I have discussed this at length & have decided that should she close the business we will then spring into action & go around scooping up all the customers that we want & will carry on ourselves.
There is also the possibilty of another entirely different opportunity that could come my way but I'm keeping quiet about that at the moment.
I'm now 6 months in to being a DFW & have learnt a lot, but I know there are many more savings to be made / opportunities to had & generally feel positive.
Right, now I really need to clean the bathroom so will do that then take a wander to local shops to get a few bits for DD & bessfriends tea. Have no idea what workload there'll be today so will just take it as it comes
bye for now...

Hi Lula,
How nice of your dad to give you the money back...bless him! Good that you are going to save it, despite the need to pay off the debt, like me, you still need some savings
Sorry to hear about the work situation and I hope that the other opportunity is just what you are after.
Hope that the bathroom is now sparkly and gleaming

Hi Tea,
yes , good old Dad eh, mind you will contain excitement until cheque received.
Pleased to report that the bathroom is now clean & shiny & not even a hint of a scooby doo in sight
I've been to local co-op & picked up a few bargains : butter - bogof, cup a soup - bogof , roasting potatoes - bogof, yoghurts - bogof , pain au chocolat - reduced, also bread, squash & milk all for £10.92 = happy lula.
Time for work now

Thats sounds very theraputic.. especially the bit with an axe :rotfl:
Good news about the car money:T:hello:Save a little money each month and at the end of the year you’ll be surprised at how little you have.An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind0 -
Weird kind of afternoon here ;
private customer's OH turned up with money ( no, that's NOT what I do for a living) which was very sweet & explained the whole redundancy thing & asked if I was ok with them just ringing when needed rather than keep cancelling, & also said he could drop off & collect, naturally I agreed & having thought about it, I'm not too bothered really as the income has been gradually dwindling over the last couple of months, so not too big a shock & I've cut down to compensate. It also means that I no longer have to do 12 miles in peak traffic & best of all I no longer have to go past Tesco & feel like I should do shopping in there :j . Apart from tomorrow of course when I shall go & fuel up after I've been to the 20% sale at M & S
.
After all the excitement over new car, it hasnt been out of the garage since saturdayso I was going to suggest to DD that we cruise down to Brighton at the week end to give it a bit of a run, but the weather is due to be awful so probably wont bother  .
Actually that means that I will only need to use the car one day a week - friday's when I do big shop & then take DD swimming, will walk or use bike for top ups.
Had a bizarre call from xbf's mother today, wondering if I'm wanting to do some work for her client. Am still considering as 1 - it's a hideous journey in peak traffic, 2 - it will cause complications with tax credits & 3 - xbf's mother  , could be very dangerous & I'm concerned that she might be trying to get rid of him & think that if I get another job, I could afford him  . I think that I would rather slit my throat, reach down inside, pull out my liver & eat it.
Waspeze - hope you're doing ok on day 3 & will keep that axe handy just in case. Just keep trucking on & you'll beat it day by day; I love your sig by the way, makes me chuckle each time I read it :rotfl: .
Off for a wander to see what else is going on now so ...
G'nite

Ps - I do rattle on don't I0 -
I finally managed to crawl in here to update,
The day started well ; I went to fill up with fuel & put £33 in the tank but had £13 of vouchers so only cost me £20 :j. I can now work out how far I get for a tank of fuel & now know that it costs about £45 to fill the tank from empty so wont be letting it run dry, ever.
I was in M & S for the sale by 8.50 & managed to get a christmas present for my grandmother, one thing for DD & a couple of bits for DD1 & got £10 off the total which I was happy with. I''ve worked out how much I'm prepared to spend on each person & I'm confident I can stick to it. Next friday is mufti day at school in return for a donation to the christmas fair & I have 3 books of raffle tickets to sell. I already have an unwanted gift for the donation so that's that sorted.
I left M & S by 9.40 & the place was heaving to the extent it took 10 minutes to escape the car park  . Had to take the car for a little drive just to calm down & it goes in straight line without holding the wheel :j , then engine is so quiet & I want to cuddle it up in a blanket & park it at the end of my bed.
I received the cheque from Dad today, so will pay that into the savings/emergency account tomorrow. I had a letter from the old insurance company to say they've cancelled it & will be sending out 'appropriate' refund soon. I reckon it's only about £16 but hey , it's better than nothing.
I also had a letter tellling me that my rent has increased by £30 a month, mainly due to a 'miscalculation' by the housing benefit department about a year ago  . The local authority are a joke; DD1 applied for housing about 3 years ago & inspite of her having left home 18 months ago, removing herself from their list & me claiming the single occupancy discount since, they have sent her a letter to this address informing her of her placement on their new needs assessment list  . Then again I heard the london mayor on tv earlier comparing the cubic size of houses here to those in Australia - has he ever looked at a map & compared the size of the 2 countries  .
Due to the increase in rent I've had to rejig the finances again & after much consideration I've declined the xbf's mothers offer. Although the hourly rate is more than I'm on now, the commuting ( petrol & time) costs & holiday childcare costs & the inflexibilty just dont make it worthwhile. I remain convinced that the right thing will turn up when it's meant to. I was also very wary of having to be involved with the family again; I think they're odd in a slightly disturbing way & the motive was not necessarily for my good. He still rings most days & earlier I had a text declaring love & asking when he can move in :mad:.
In the evenings I am so glad to just get DD into bed & be alone with my thoughts, plans & pc. I need a simple stress free life in order to forge ahead with the debt busting & I know I can do it on my own & that once I have cleared the cards then i can reasess my personal situation.
Apologies for the rant, it's just been a day of extreme emotions & I'm just so glad that I can come on here & get it all out of my system. I think that people who are not in debt, or at least those who have not yet had a LBM, cannot really understand the emotional & mental strain that goes along with actually doing the physical stuff.
Hurray for MSE :T

Awww Lula...here's a big dodgy hug for you:grouphug:
Just a quick message coz I'm just on my way to bed, I'll regret it in the morning lol
My local authority are the same, its a complete nitemare  I hate applying for housing benefit with a passion I really do. I'm getting alot at the moment but I have a feelin that at some point its gonna come and bite me on the bum. It;s never simple with them!!
I know how you feel about getting DD into bed. as much as I love my DD and she's no trouble atall, I don't half look forward to bedtime, during the week she goes to bed at 9 and if she's up a minute longer it drives me mad !
I hope tomorrow is a better day for you Lula ... and don't forget it's almost the weekendInitial Debt July 2020 - £6,772.80
Debt now Jan 2021 - £6,208.21
Overpayment pot - £00 -
Morning Lula,
:grouphug: Hugs, I can understand you being mad with the benefit people. Don't they drive you barmy!
Well done on the shops yesterday and getting the presents you did.
I can definately relate to the kids being in bed, it's heaven! As much as I adore and put up with the whinging, whining and fighting that my two do, it is bliss when they are asleep
Have a good day and I'll catch you later,
Tea
