    Hello all!

I've been reading, just haven't felt like posting. I haven't had anything positive to say so rather than whinge away I figured I'd enjoy one two many glasses of Tescos 25% off wine (by Goverment standards it was more like 4 times too much) and get over things. I did type a very long winded reply earlier today but then the power went off and the PC refused to turn back on. Fortunately after much swearing at it its decided to work again.

Lula have a nosey at the Screwfix website for drills and things (they're v. cheap for lightbulbs too). Their basic range, which is surprisingly good, starts at £20, P&P is free when you spend £50 and they do cashback via Quidco. They also have extra strong industrial superglue too, perfect for when the knob in your life fails to behave.

    Hi everyone,

Moo2 glad you're still about & I know what you mean about not feeling in the mood to post, as long as i know you're ok - ish I wont hassle you. It's odd because although none of us have actually met, we share stuff that's going on in our lives & I really care about you all & get a bit concerned when you go quiet .

Suffice to say that having read your last sentence with coffee in my mouth, I choked & dribbled in a most inelegant way :o . Having re read that sentence I believe it speaks volumes & assure that my pm box always open if necessary :A :grouphug:  .

DD1 came over for a visit last night & it was great to catch up with all her news, but not so great to discover that her 2 male & much older housemates are giving her a hard time  . Being a feisty & protective mummy I was very tempted to drive over to hers in great haste & express myself very clearly    but then calmed down & decided to behave like the well bred grown up that I should be; so I think I need to have more of a presence at her house & get myself onto the screwfix site as well ;) .

If necessary I can always take xbf with me as I know he would be very good at making his presence felt too, typical that he may well be useful just as I dont want him to be  .

Anyway, other than that she's fine & loving her job although having 'insider' knowledge of certain NHS practices & procedures is not necessarily reassuring, mental note to get rich & go private before getting old ;) .

One of my colleagues is off this week so I am due to get a whole heap of extra work this week & next which I'm bracing myself for & actually glad of as the car tax, increased council tax & week without pay are looming  .

I've done the hoovering & tidying already, am up to date with the washing & just need to throw the iron at some clothes. We're running low on milk but I'm not going near a shop today as need to get another NSD in.

    Bye for now,

    Lula

Having a mid-life crisis. Do not read on if you are of a nervous or rather catholic disposition.

I'm sitting here thinking oh no what have I done. The worst part is I'm stone cold sober. I've blown £75 on a catalogue for the OHs christmas presents. If I was inibriated it'd be funny. As it is I'm sitting here, coffee in hand, thinking he'll like that and that and that and so I'm now the rather sheepish slutty owner of a 1/4 cup peephole bra (although theres not enough material left for it to support anything) worse still its red and is guaranteed to be 100% nylon. I'm going to look like a reject from a 1970s porno flick. Not content with that I've also purchased the matching crotchless string... more out of curiousity than anything else. Is there actually enough material in a string for it to be crotchless? And some cherry flavoured lube and an assortment of cocktail flavoured sachets of lube and worse still I've ordered a Wave. I am a !!!!!!. Although I'll be a !!!!!! with cherry flavoured tonsils, a rather cheesy grin on my face and a very happy husband.

Lula - don't worry about the knob reference in my previous post, I was more thinking of your cooker than anything else.

I have the best job in the whole world. I walked in the door to a 9 foot tall tree in the middle of a corridor and the instructions to do something with it. So I spent a happy hour yesterday being paid to masacre a christmas tree so that it fitted into a metal tree stand. My boss was fab. It was cold and dark out so he suggested bringing in a giant cardboard box and doing it indoors on the carpet.... with a jigsaw. The guy is a genius! It made a phenomenal amount of wet sticky sappy mess. There were chunks of annihilated tree everywhere. Its the best form of therapy ever. Obviously its not quite as straightforward as it sounds as although its firmly wedged in the stand it is rater drunk looking but I'm considering that an intentional safety feature as when poistioned correctly it will lean backwards towards a wall thus minimising the risk of crush injury to passers by.

My first proper job of the day, after positioning it in such a way that no fire exits are blocked, will be to carry out a risk assessment on it. Apparently my first attempt was not suitable for submitting to the council. You can't stipulate that 4 vertically challenged persons will be required on duty during premises opening hours dressed in little green suits with jingly bells attached to prevent passers by attempting to climb or eat the tree. You equally can't state that all decorations will be 100% edible but non-melting or that the fairy will be bubble wrapped with parachute attached incase of fall (perhaps I should change that to fall arrest harness).

I am planning to spend this morning decorating the tree in the provided colour co-ordinated baubles and tinsel. I'm fairly confident I can do that, although it won't meet the standards of the creativity department as I'll be getting the DDs to help out along with any other willing and excited small children who happen to be in the vicinity at the time.

Ho Ho Ho! Have a fun filled day all.

Morning everyone & a very Happy Mid-Life Crisis to Moo :D

I loved your post & as far as I can see £70 on a mid-life crisis is very damn DFW - let's face it, it could have been new boobs & a sports car. May you both enjoy it fully ;).

I had a good NSD yesterday, only slightly marred by constant calls from a certain debt 'help' company to the extent that by 6 I was just answering the phone & hanging up again, only to realise when my mobile rang that it was dear old dad who'd made the last 3 calls from abroad :o . Serves me right for having that caller display thingy  . Anyway, he just asked if I could whizz over to the house & set up his lamp timer things which he'd forgotten to do. Neighbours are popping in & out every day & keeping a watch on the place but I went over this morning (good excuse to drive new car see ;) ) & wrestled with timers which are not as simple as they seem so I just hope I got it right.

Had to stop off at shop & get more milk & funny splodgy dessert for girls tonight but did get a £2 coin in change so kinda worth it.

Got to start work so bye for now...

I failed miserably with the tree. After a second attempt at annihilating the thing its now straight. Unfortunately I then released it from its nylon restraints whereupon it expanded like a thing possessed to a whopping 10 foot in diameter. Its not so much blocking the fire exits as impeding process of everyone down the corridor. Funniest part is that several of the tubbier techers are having to pass it sideways to get thorough and even then have to hold bits out of the way. Am waiting for the head to return before I give it a haircut. Didn't bother decorating it. There aren't enough baubles to do it justice.

The Ann Summers rep has e-mailed to say she'll give me a 10% discount on my order so thats £7.50 less to fork out.

School Christmas Fayre is tonight. PTA are going to have a fit when they walk into school as the hall stage is set up for next weeks concerts and won't be available for them. Worse still teachers are and planning in the rooms they want to use as grottos and children will be using the tables they want for stalls. That'll cause a few comments. Parents have donated the usual carp. Broken toys, outgrown clothes, maky teddys and wot not. The award for the best donation has to go to the parent who sent in Debbie Does Dallas on DVD. Its going to be a fun filled day.

Good evening & apologies for all the yawning ( bet that makes someone start now :p )
what a long day - only finished work at 9.30 & I'm just getting to know a glass of wine better ;) .

DD1 is having a long week end away & conveniently forgot to take the case she 's borrowing on her last visit  so I took that over to her this morning after dropping DD off at school. A 26 mile round trip & a pair of black tights to complete the ladybird outfit ( dont ask ) Having checked out the state of her room ( explosion in clothes factory) I can see why her housemates are a bit miffed at her lack of domestic prowess  . Love her to bits but she's not coming back here; for months after she left home friends kept asking if i missed her being at home ..... err no; we were/are domestically incompatible.

DD had a friend round to play / tea after school & i really find it soooo hard; they rejected my original meal idea & the second & the third & when we got to chicken, roast potatoes & baked beans the dear child told me that she only likes baked beans on certain days & which day was it   . Hmmm, 'the last day you're coming here for tea I think' were the words on my lips but i managed to swallow them  .

It has been a NSD though :j so I only have one more to achieve my target & it'll have to be saturday as tomorrow i need to spend loads & sunday we're taking dear grandmother out for tea. I'm going to combine this with my final trip to check on dad's house before he returns - need to test whether the timer switches actually work & have a burning desire to wipe all the cupboards & need to remove the milk that he left in the fridge before it turns into cheese :o .

Thanks to the extra work I did last week end I have earned enough to cover the extra £40 council tax, put money into all the funds & still have enough for groceries, gas & elec top up & payment into the bank to cover credit card payments :D :j :D . It sucks really as i dont get a penny myself :( but I've enough points for a £10 voucher on one of the survey accounts so have ordered that & will treat myself to something. This year, just getting through Christmas without having to resort to CCs will be a joy; although I've only paid about £500 off the total balance, I'm really proud of how I've managed to jettison unnecessary spending & although I do get a bit miserable about not buying new clothes etc, the joy of seeing the debt shrinking every week far outweighs the misery.

I am so tired I have to crawl off to bed now

    G'nite
    Lula xx

That sounds like a very productive if knackering week Lula.

All the carp in my life has finally come to a head. The PTA parent who was making my life miserable has done the most petty spiteful thing imaginable and cancelled the wrapping of the childrens christmas presents from Santa. Not changed the date or the venue. Just cancelled it adding a nice little line to the end of the e-mail effectively blaming me. Her next e-mail says shes stepping-down until January when I leave. Nice huh? and a great start to the day. I haven't had much sleep so I was grumpy and irritable to start with. Now I'll be hiding from people all day so that I don't bite anyone elses head off. Have to go in extra early this morning to clear up after last nights fair which was fabulous fun but as per usual the instant the raffle was drawn the entire PTA (less one person) departed en masse leaving 4 members of staff, 1 parent and a grandparent to clear up. They've done a great job but the place still needs vacuuming and the tables relocating to the correct classrooms. Not really looking forward to things today. Hopefully I'll feel more human after a bit more sleep.

Hope you all have a better day than the one I'm facing.

    Hi,

aww Moo, hope your day improves. The PTA at DDs school are the most cliquey & rude group of women I've ever come across. I made several attempts to integrate & help out but in the end being ignored just got boring so I dont bother now.

I managed to go through £240 in a couple of hours this morning what with council tax, car tax, food shopping & getting a couple more christmas presents... feel quite sick but suppose i should be grateful that the overtime paid for the increase in council tax & rent this week  .

I'm very fed up with the whole debt clearing & being permanently broke business at the moment so I'm going to take a couple of days off from updating my miserable little diary.

hope everyone has a good week end
