tesco at catford yesterday would only accept one (sadly choose a guy at the checkout only to go off just before he started to be replaced by a woman)Only took 1 20p off plus my tesco extra points vouchers. I wasn't too happy as car park cost £1.60 and no clothes left either so its either try lewisham or back to sainsbury's or morrisons or good old iceland but my new freezer is full from the sale bargains
i wish iceland would do a loyality card !!
  • Hi, I've just got back from shopping at Tesco and I went to the usual guy that I know will take vouchers and he took a total of £33 in vouchers so I only paid £9 for a £42 shop!!!! So it must be dependant on which store you go to as to how much they take off you or whether they take them at all.

  • Depends on cashier more than store I think, one day mine would take 6 providing all different, the next time, 1 coupon only, the follwing time back to six again. I recommend going to the teenage lads, they seem to let more through :0)
Probably too cool/embarrassed to say anything, I don't try more than the six though, i don't want to be unfair to them.

Well done coraastbury - excellent discount, did you have lots of high value vouchers ? and if so, where did you get them from. ? I am running low on my stocks and most of my vouchers are for 20p !! My Tescos are usually OK about vouchers although again it depends on the cashier.
;) I am the only Voucher Queen in my village LOL ;)

Hi Welsh-Dragon, I used mainly the ones from Somerfield. They are mostly 50p vouchers..... the coupon section of the receipt is longer than the shopping bit!!!! I will be going back to Somerfield tomorrow to get stocked up on some more. I have also been receiving some through the post from companies that I emailed. Today I got £1 from Dolmio with a sample of pasta and the sauce (the microwave express stuff).

I agree about it depending on the cashier. I usually go to an oldish man or a young lad, I find that most women won't take them!

I use coupons as much as the next person, but how do Tesco get the money back off the Somerfield ones that are Somerfield products?

I'm guessing they'll take a loss on them, but how many will they accept, especially if we're using a lot of them, before they stop accepting? After all Asda has done it.

I have no problems with the Somerfield coupons from last month - which are manufacturer items. Any other opinions?

Goodness knows why Tesco or any other supermarket get uptight about coupons/vouchers etc!

If you look at the coupons thay are all sent to a central clearing house and the supermarkets get refunded as far as I know!

    Who cares anyway!

My Tesco will only take coupons that they can claim back (i.e. not other supermarket ones). They check the coupons more now - even at the self scan tills. However, they just seem to check (1) that they can potentially claim them back, and (2) that they are in date. If these two things are met, then they don't seem to care how many coupons you have!

The more busy the self scan tills are, the less they seem to care in general!
  • Our tesco will take sainsbury ones at the till - the £10 off a £50 shop type.

I have had Somerfield Coupons in the past but never dared to use them in Tesco's do they work at the self scan till by any chance ?

I have changed my normal branch of Tesco's as they stopped allowing coupons but one about another 7 miles away takes them used a Joey coupon and 2 Actimel Ones yesterday. Good £4 Saving.
