I think I have just changed to Scottish Power for gas/elec, but it has all taken so long, I'm still not sure if E Elect has let go of me! :-/ Anyone thinking of changing providers should bear in mind that it can take 6 to 8 weeks for the changeove to take place.
A point to watch out for when changing providers, be it services or insurance, is when the old provider last took out payment and when the new took over. I have found that they have a habit of taking them out in the same month! ie. the old providers debit at the beginning of the month and the new ones at the end. I'm sure you all go through your Bank Statement with a fine toothcomb tho.if i had known then what i know now0 -
Has anyone with a Scottish Power online account actually ever been able to input their meter readings?!
We've been with SP for three months now and haven't been able to access the on-line servicing part of the account during that time. We've notified SP of this on several occasions. Last week, they claimed the problem was fixed, but we still couldn't access the correct page.Carpe diem0 -
mine worked ok 2 weeks ago
ive opted for the managed online, fixed rate gas/electricity. I did initially want to go for the full online service but you had to have direct debit which they werent exactly open about. Id rather not have DD because i tend to have high bills in the winter, and very low in the summer.
I do remember it took me a while to get the reading done. Ive always found their customer services very helpful, either via e-mail or if you phone DONT press anything (you know 'for account enquiries press one... and all that) and you will get through quicker.Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

I personally wouldn't touch them witha barge pole again. Before we switched our supplier we had no end of problems with Scottish Power.
The monthly 'bill' would never have the right reading, they once used a reading from a house round the corner and were adament that it was our reading despite it being around 6000 units difference, I think that was the meter reading company being lazy and guessing at the reading not Scottish Power themselves.
After much tooing and froing including reading the meter over the phone to 3 different people we still got the wrong bill.
At this point my fiancee phoned the customer services again and gave them the correct reading and received nothing but abuse from the representative. She came off the phone in tears, I was straight back on, asked for a manager who then dealt with the matter within 10 minutes and phoned me back to confirm.
I think it got sorted that quickly after I asked for the name and address of the Cheif Executive and got the offical complaint number.
All in all I wasn't very impressed with Scottish Power and switched elsewhere soon after.
cheers

I said somewhile ago I would report back after switching to Scottish Power. Here goes........................
I switched both Gas and Electricity to SP from British Gas back in early February of this year. ;D ;D ;D
Within several weeks I received my final Gas bill from BG, so everything seemed to be on track.
BUT HOLD ON >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
I the tried to sign up for online billing, as I thoughT this would be another potential saving. They emailed me and said they could not set this up until my final reading had arrived for my aealectricity from BG.
3 months further on and this has not been received, so I owe money to BG for my final bill, and shortly SP will be sending me a bill.
I phoned SP today and asked them what the hell is going on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The young lady who took my call, explained it takes up to 45 days to receive a final reading from the previous supplier. Have you ever heard such tosh.
I the rang my previous supplier and asked them why it it was taking so long to send me a bill, and send the final reading to SP????????????????????????
Both BG and SP said they would look in to the matter.
I await the outcome with bated breath.
WAS IT REALLY WORTH CHANGING SUPPLIER? AT THIS RATE NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0 -
I'm still in the process of switching from PowerGen to SP. It's been about 9 weeks now, and their latest estimate for completion of the process is another 2-4 weeks. I posted some thoughts on PowerGen in my other thread.
I agree - it seems to take forever to switch, by which time the tariffs have all changed and the promised savings never materialise.
Is there actually a regulator for this? I know there is one appointed, but they seem to have decided they've done their bit in telling the elec/gas companies to allow this to happen but aren't regulating how long it takes.0 -
>:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
Since de-regulation companies who supply Gas and Electricity state 'apathy is the main reason people cannot be bothered to change suppliers'
I used to believe this line, NOT ANY LONGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is for the very reasons that we people who attempt to change providers come across 'APATHY AND INEFFICENCY' from suppliers.
IS IT ALL REALLY WORTH IT??????????????Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0 -

Re my previous post on the 29th April.
Today received an email from Scottish Power, it reads as follows;
'I have today raised paperwork to obtain the reading and meter details from the Data Collector'
It goes on;
'This can take some time and I would not expect to have this information before the end of this month'
If they do achieve this before the end of May, I will then have been waiting 4 months for my previous suppliers readings, if they can obtain this.
Maybe I would have been better off staying with my previous supplier.
This is a warning to anyone intending to change supplier. >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0 -
I am fed up with Scottish Power, since taking over my account a few months ago they have done their best to get up my nose.
The latest is for two months running they have debited my account of £20 a month when it should be nearer £50. I rang them last month and they said they had sorted it, obviously not cause ive got to ring them again. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Is it worth changing suppliers?? My own experience mirrors most of the other posters - and the answer would appear to be NO! I did a comparison and SP came up best so changed - and it has been a complete nightmare due to the length of time it takes. Also, I pay by DD and SP are taking a larger monthly DD than my previous two suppliers - eventually it should even out, but this is not the way I had intended it to be - I wanted LESS coming out of my account every month! ???if i had known then what i know now0
