    In reply to posts above....

Minimum is 28 days for a ScottishPower contract.

They offer fixed rates until Dec '06 on their capped tariff.

ScottishPower got lots of new applications in Jan (signed a deal with Lloyds that has netted them tens of thousands of new customers) hence there application process is slower than normal at the mo.

    Hope this helps.

I am a fairly recent addict to Martin's Money Saving and decided it was about time I switched my energy suppliers, having gone through all the estimates about 18 months ago and did nothing !. Having read these posts I am still wondering if it is worthwhile ! I have run estimates on Unravelit.com, u-switch, save on your bills and UK power, all on the 'Which' website. In nearly every case if I go for dual fuel it is Scottish Power that comes up cheapest except if I don't want Internet billing and then Atlantic Direct is! On 'save on your bills' if I elected to go for separate gas and elec. suppliers, Scottish Power were shown as the cheapest in both instances. How can this be ? Help someone, is there a real saving or is it not worth the hassle ? Is it best to go dual fuel or stay separate ? Are Scottish Power any good or what about Atlantic Direct ? Still confused am I. ??? ??? ???

Resurrecting a thread that's gone quiet here but Martin's email this week mentioned

"....and many (not all though) Scottish Power customers will see a second price rise in one month."

I've got about 4 days left to decide against switching to Scottish Power if I wish, does anyone have any more info on these price rises? I use electricity only by the way.

    Thanks.

I am still hoping for info too. I found something on the internet about rises on 01/03/04 but I assume Martin is referring to some more recent increase(s).

    Here's the basics :)

    "ScottishPower announces further price rise
Following on from their price increases at the beginning of March, ScottishPower have since announced a further price rise effective 1st April 2004. The rise only applies to customers in the London, Midlands, Northern, Seeboard, SWEB and Yorkshire regions.

Customers in these regions can expect gas and electricity bills to increase by an average 6.2 per cent."

I don't have details to hand, but find the easiest way of getting price change details is to run a new search through http://www.ukpower.co.uk and click for price info.

I don't rely exclusively on the calculator, but find this site particularly helpful for pricing as it has a page indicating which recent price changes have been incorporated (seems to be lacking on some of the other price comparison sites).
