Taplady not very OS of you a tumble drier,,, my towels are soft as I put vinegar in the last rinse,, thats the secret,, and they dont smell of vinegar either

I'm sure I'm not the only OSer with a TD!;) I only put things in for a few mins to soften up, I certainly wouldn't actually dry anything in it - couldn't afford to with the price of electric! thanks for the tip on using vinegar, I have thought of this but havent tried it yet.(am never around for the last rinse as I tend to wash in the middle of the night, DH puts it on when he gets up for work - 2am!)
    Do what you love :happyhear
  • I have been very busy this morning and am having a sit down with a cup of tea while I wait for the washing machine to finish the cycle. It's gloomy but dry so I should be able to hang it out and get all the duvet covers back on this afternoon. I have baked two loafs of bread and 24 fairy cakes and I'm looking for a recipe for bread and butter pudding to use up the stale bread left from the weekend.

    Aussielass congratulations on your anniversary.

Redruby sorry that your feeling poorly.

Wannabesybil if your son's behaviour is out of character for him you must be very worried. It would be good to to take him to the health centre when you pick up your prescription and let someone have a look at him in case there is some underlying reason behind the crying.

silvercharm did you get back to sleep?

taplady you dont have to justify your tumble dryer to anybody. Mine is a godsend I couldnt live without in winter time.

I know there was more I wanted to mention but my mind is blank. Oh dear the washing is finished so I better get on.

Sorry taplady,, I was really saying about the price of electric,, as our gas has gone up 34% and the electric about 15% ,,,i got rid of my TD last year ,,as I used it even when I didnt need to ,,
I put the vinegar in the conditioner drawer and then you dont have to be up at the time..
I dont feel the need for conditioner any more as the vinegar makes things lovely and soft

    Forgive me

  • Red-ruby - hope you feel better soon, I have had pleurisy twice before and founf it very painful but once the antibiotics kicked in I felt much better.

Look after yourself, I think I got it again because I didnt get over the first bout properly.

OH is on his way back from hospital with his heart tape attached. Not happy though - he sat there for an hour watching people go in who had arrived after him - when he queried it with the not so helpful receptionist she realised she hadnt put his notes out as she was chatting on the phone. OH is much more laid back than me - I would have moaned to her line manager.

Bright sunshine has gone and now its quite overcast and windy - methinks wll be making a trip to the pictures after all.

  • Just skimmed through, on quickly to say (((((((redruby)))))))) Look after yourself & don't overdo it or you'll feel even worse.

Taplady, I love towels in the TD as well :)

Anyway, am going to put some old clothes on & go and cable-tie fix some treliis panels to something else in the garden. Bit too breezy to do the rose arches at the moment, but if it goes nicer again later I'll do them.
Got a garden fork for £7 earlier, and a couple of other little garden bargains in Asda too.

Just had some banoffee pie for lunch, not healthy I know, but in between playing taxi to assorted DD's & desperately waiting for the end of the school holidays, I NEEDED IT!!!!!!!!!!

  • Afternoon darlings!!

Nice weather for ducks this morning but it does appear to be brightening up. Am hoping to get out into the garden today, but it all depends on the OH.

Oh oh oh, how could I forget?? I have RED chilli peppers at long last! I noticed them turning yesterday morning and after an afternoon of having the oven on and lots of baking, they had turned a really bright orangey/red! I am so proud!! Plus the huge bowl of green tomatoes have been ripening up a treat and I am eating about 10 cherry tomatoes a day.

Aussie - happy Anniversary to you and your DH
Redruby - hope you feel better soon hon

I also use a tumble dryer, and before that we used to go to the launderette to dry things so this saves us money! Plus I have no idea how I would dry kingsize sheets and duvet covers without it in the winter.

Banoffee pie - Mmmmm. That sounded so nice that I went and got a frozen banana - really lovely - when they are frozen they taste like banana icecream!

Hugs to everyone who needs one and congrats to anyone who is celebrating today.
