OS Daily, Monday 1st Sept 08

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Monday 1st Sept 08. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning. PInch punch and all that.

I have been in London for a week and then back to work where it is very busy. London was fun but ate up a lot of money, but there was 7 of us.
I could write a whole blog on the experience. I did tit on the cheap and stayed in a £29 Travelodge and got cheap train tickets. I used the half price pizza hut offer which worked great.

Now it's back to reality and lots of work. I am off to Weymouth fishing on Tuesday night, so that should provide a nice break again.

Well folks I am off to the office....

Cheers

    Good morning everyone!

Well, the severe weather warning was wasted on us down here because we had very little rain and it was quite mild. It's fairly bright this morning - the sun is hiding behind the clouds but, with a bit of effort, could make an appearance.

I can't believe it's September already! Where did the year go?

    Churchmouse - :hello: :hello: :hello:

    Welcome back, Hilstep!

Today I am hunting down a heated propagator for DS1's birthday next Sunday; I'll give him some garden vouchers, too. He loves his garden and has been busy revamping it this year. He ends up with loads of vouchers then saves them up and spends a blissful few hours spending them!

Anyway, besides that, I need to pop out to the gym and run a few errands; I'll be without my car for three days because DH is working a couple of hours away and, if he uses my car instead of his 4X4, he can save £10 a day in fuel! I can always drive his car if I need to but I hate it because it's automatic plus it's huge and I hate parking it! I have good local shops within walking distance so I can do without having to drive. It all saves money and fuel. His car runs on diesel and I can well remember when we were first being encouraged to drive diesel cars; they said it would always be cheaper than petrol. Well, they lied, didn't they? Anyway, I'm not going to think about it - at least we can beat them by swapping cars around so that whoever has the longest journey drives the cheapest-to-run car!

We were really lazy yesterday afternoon; the weather was so gloomy we just chilled out in front of the TV. This means that I have lots to do today!

Well, I'd better make a start. See you all later.

Off to work soon, but I don't start till 9 so it's a lazy start.
Hubby & BIL have gone to work, though BIL has to go to court at 11 for the repossesion hearing for his house. He & his ex are convinced that she will automatically be housed by the local authority, I'm not convinced, but hope they are right.
The sun is shining so I have washing on the line & we have rubber chicken for tea tonight.
    Have a good day.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning all,

First day of Spring here. :D I didn't come on much over the weekend. On a rating from 1 - 10 my weekend ended up being about -100  :D Oh well, I suppose it makes us appreciate the weekends that are +10. ;) It's our wedding anniversary today. 29 years. :D DGS got his dressings changed today and doesn't need to get them changed until Saturday now. He's popping down tomorrow.

Been doing bits and pieces this morning. I started a top I got material for and atm it's going quite well. ;) Mind you, I've only sewn about 3 seams. :D

N9eav You did well to get tit in london on the cheap. :D Welcome back.:p
HH Be interesting to see what the courts say. Do let us know.

Well will get going. Oooh Kylie has just come on the radio. The better the devil you know. :D Hope you have a lovely day & (hugs) to those that need them. Byeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

Welcome back N9eav, sounds like you can do all sorts with your moneysaving then....?!?!??!!!!! :rotfl: Glad you had a good time - has the rain stopped for you yet??

EDIT: Aussie, great minds think alike...!!!!!! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!!!!!! Hope you & DH have a lovely day  Glad DGS is slowly on the mend as well.

Lynseyann, my younger two go back on Thursday, with youngest DD starting secondary school, oldest DD doesn't go back till Monday as she is starting college but I'm at the point now where I'm looking forward to getting a routine back as well (and some peace in the day for the last 4 weeks before I'm back to uni). I think the kids are ready to go back as well and catch up properly with all their friends, let alone just be occupied during the week...)
Hester, BIL's ex might get put on a waiting list... or somewhere very very temporary but my little sis (at 21) when she lost her home & job (split with partner from pub they ran together), was told to rent privately (despite having a 3 year old) & the council legally should have been obliged to help but didn't want to know.

Blue sky outside my window this morning, will try & get some washing out & put together the 3 remaining rose arches (rain foxed that plan yesterday).

I'm sure I'll be back later..!!!! ((((((((((((hugs))))))))))) for all those needing them.

    Morning All

First day back at work for me today but it's an inset day today and tomorrow. Feel shattered as DS woke me up at 1.30 and then DD at 3 and then I was still awake after 4 and DS woke me up at 5.30!

Need to wake myself up and get myself sorted before chucking the kids over at my mate's house and off to work.

    Have a good day all

    Hugs
