Good morning everyone  School holidays are nearly over :embarasse It's been the shortest ever for us - not even 6 weeks :embarasse :embarasse :embarasse
We were meant to go for a long bike ride yesterday afternoon (once I mended the puncture  ) but it rained so much that it's been postponed  Instead, DS and I did a baking marathon - bread rolls, smartie cookies, HG plum and sour cream tart, jam tarts, scones
DH made a delicius Sunday Dinner - SC mutton (from the farmers' market) with HG veg - new potatoes, 3 types of green beans, sweetcorn, garlic, onions, carrots.
While I was baking I discovered that I'm clean out of HM HG damson jam  I'll see what we have on the tree (not a great crop this year
) and then delve into the freezer and start another batch.
DS's new matress arrives this morning - he can't wait :jHappy Anniversary to the Aussies !!
Tonight's tea is HM pasta with a sauce made from HG spinnach and chard, and ricotta and parmesan
Have a great day, Penny. x:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
Morning all
I didn't sleep a wink last night. Actually that's a lie. I didn't sleep until around 5am. Woke with OH's alarm an hour ago with my head at the feet end and my feet at the head end, and with the cat lying across me. I'm debating whether or not to go back to bed.0 -
Morning all
Happy anniversary Aussie
Am off to London today as am having mum's ashes interred into my dad's grave. Coincidentally it's dad's birthday too!! DH got the day off too and we are going to plant some mini daffodils around the stone too.
Made a plum crumble yesterday with plums from the garden. First time we have had enough for a filling of some sort. Was lovely and sweet. Made custard to go with it, can't believe we were eating a hot pudding like that in August!!!!! Sad state of affairs
Counting down the days now to our holiday. Two weeks from today we have having a new central heating boiler put in and then on the Friday we are off to Menorca for a week, I can't wait. Got plenty of books to take so will just be sitting, swimming, reading and eating. Not all at the same time and not necessarily in that order either.
Have a good day all0 -
Hello everyone, I'm back from my holiday. It was very hard to get up this morning and think about going back to work. Had a lovely time in cornwall, stayed with my parents. Cant believe that it was only last Friday that we were sitting on the beach and yet today it is the 1st Sept and felt really cold when I woke up. Has anyone noticed how the nights are now drawing in. The autumnal equinox is on 22nd, so downhill after that towards the winter! Hope everyone is well and belated congratulations to any birthdays, anniversaries I may of missed. Have a good day, duddles x0

Hi Aussie & Squiggly
Happy Anniversary Aussie
I've been checking up on the other forums for BIL & I think that because she didn't pay the mortgage despite having the money she will be classed as having made herself intentionally homeless, we'll see, I let you know as soon as I hear anything.

Good Morning from Sunny Essex
Happy Anniversary Aussie
Hope today goes ok Chrisca
(((hugs))) whereever needed.
Last day of the hols for DD today, DS goes back wednesday. DD wants to go and watch a film - funds are very low at the moment but will see what we can do.
Have Tesco coming this morning, and OH is off to the hospital to have his heart tape fitted. Need to do some essential paperwork then off somewhere this afternoon.
Did all the ironing yesterday and all the school stuff is ready :j .
Think will be chicken pittas for tea.

Morning everyone
I seem to have lost the knack of getting a good night's sleep. It's been around a week now since I had a decent sleep. Oh well, I needed to get up early-ish today anyway as I'm going to wake DS and DD soon so that the early rise for the first day back at school on Wednesday will not be a shock to them. They have been sleeping in till around 11 so this will seem like the middle of the night to them.
Pen-Pen I've also run out of jam but am very wary of making my own after the Plum Toffee Fiasco of 2006.
Aussie when does the Queen present the medal to your DH for [STRIKE]putting up with you[/STRIKE] 29 years loyal service?
Hope your anniversary is better than your weekend.
Chrisca this will be a sad day for you - I hope it goes well.
I have lots of food in my fridge that desperately needs using up so I can see lunch and dinner being buffet-style (and probably weird combinations too
). I'm going to have a good rummage in the freezer too as its become very untidy and I have no idea what's lurking in there. I'm determined to avoid the supermarket as long as possible.
Need to go and wake DS and DD and listen to them moan for an hour at how unfair it is to be woken so early on one of their last two days off (little do they know that they will be getting up even earlier tomorrow. Mwahahahaha.
)
Have a marvellous Monday. xx"Bad planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part."

Lynseyann, my younger two go back on Thursday, with youngest DD starting secondary school, oldest DD doesn't go back till Monday as she is starting college but I'm at the point now where I'm looking forward to getting a routine back as well (and some peace in the day for the last 4 weeks before I'm back to uni). I think the kids are ready to go back as well and catch up properly with all their friends, let alone just be occupied during the week...)
Morning Squiggly :hello:

by being weighed!! i am determind, but going on trips and eating earlier and kids snacks and stuff, has set me back, but im back and ,so i'll be hopefully slimmer come christmas :j hee hee!)
My eldest needs school, she always has to be doing something and be kept occupied, they tend to be at school dont they, and like you say, meet up with their friends,so i know she will be fine :A .Thank you

Chrisca, thinking of you today ((((((hugs)))))
Lynsey, I resolved to dig out my weightwatchers stuff a couple of weeks ago & get myself sorted.... I seem to have got worse since!!!! Roll on a daily routine again
I seem to have spent a fortune it's not just me when popping into town/supermarket/wherever, and even just having one DD along with me involves spending more money for some reason.
PenPen, you've made me dribble......
EssexGirl, hope your OH gets on ok at hospital.
AnnieBL, too right - if you're not getting much sleep why should anyone else, lol!!!!! I'd be cruel & let them sleep later and later, then wake them at 7am on BTS (back-to-school) day
But then I'm a horrible mother...
Silvercharming, did you go back to bed or just give it up for now?? Think there must be something in the air, lots of people having sleeping problems at the moment.
Dubgirl, welcome home again. It feels very autumnal this morning - crispy & sunny, and yet much as it's a shame "summer" is nearly over, I like the cosiness of autumn & starting to think ahead to Christmas etc.Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)
