Well done telling the bank employee what's what - a funny story but isn't it terrible that they let such ignorant people give advice to customers. Just imagine where you would be if you had taken his advice and got that loan. (Oh come to think of it, that's what I did a few year's back....)

I think you were right to use the wedding savings to pay off debt. I am SO jealous of your lack of overdraft. My combined overdrafts are now £5753! My NatWest overdraft is absolutely my least favourite debt.

I am really struggling at present, the debt is NOT going down and I am fed up with it.

Hey guys i've been telling everyone at work that story about the bank and getting a few laughs although like you said seaxwyn i could have taken his advice and had a credit check carried out and been declined a loan which would not have looked good on my credit file which is bad enough as it is!

I have been paid from my 2nd job today so the car has been filled with petrol and i have still got £15 left in my bank which i have transferred into my online savings account as the bank no longer pay interest on credit balances. In fact i have the money for the mortgage, sky and HSA still showing in my account as its not due to come off till the 1st of the month so i should really transfer that to the savings account as i will be able to get some interest on that for about 5 days... which is better than nothing!

I have £75 cash left in my purse which im hoping will last me as long as possible..... although i still havent done the shopping for this week but am hoping to spend no more than £40 cause i still have a £5 off voucher to use in morrisons from the sun.

Anyway id better get to bed now as im working 8 - 6 2moro and im shattered! My fiance has said he will treat me to a take away 2moro night so am looking forward to that then im really going to have to start my diet again on monday.....

Well the takeaway wasn't that nice and i didn't feel very well after it or again this morning! It wasn't worth it!

We did the shopping tonight and ended up spending just over £36 managed to get some things to keep in the cupboard for using over the next few weeks. Didn't get everything we needed but we do have enough food for the next week.

I need to think about some other ways to try and save money but will look at budgets and stuff on Tuesday as i have a night off am going to try and get some sleep now

Hey well its that time.... monthly update!!! So here's whats outstanding at the 1st August 2010:

    OVERDRAFTS:

ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND £800.00 now NIL :j

    LOANS:

ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND £6527.04 now £6276.00

    CREDIT CARDS:

    DEBENHAMS £1495.00 now £1440.00
    MBNA £3820.00 now £3810.00
ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND MC 1 £9100.00 now £9000.00

ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND MC 2 £4449.47 now £4430.00
    TESCO £2250.00 now £2240.00
SANTANDER ZERO £395.00 now NIL :j

    TOTALS:
    OVERDRAFTS £800.00 now NIL

    LOANS £6527.04 now £6276.00
    CREDIT CARDS £21509.47 now £20920.00

TOTAL OUTSTANDING JUNE £28836.51 now £27196.00

Total paid off last month was £1640.51
Total paid off since 1st January 2010 is £1687.28 :j

    Well its finally getting somewhere!!!

I used the money out the wedding fund to pay off the Santander card and the overdraft and i am paying this back which am going to find a struggle but it needs to be done. I still have an overdraft of £100 but i don't intend to use it unless its an emergency and it is interest free so i don't need to worry about having any added expenses.

If i hadn't used the wedding fund money i would have still managed to pay off £445.51 this month so that's good to know.

I've decided to tackle the debt busting a bit differently from now on. I will only pay my credit cards the minimum payment (plus the odds to round it down) when i actually have the money instead of using the overdraft to pay them and then getting in a panic when i don't have the money left. I will also pay them in the order they are due instead of when i receive them and i will also be paying them closer to the date they are due instead of as soon as they are received.

I was going to use the small amount i have in my bank £4.14 to pay towards my debts but have decided to keep it in my bank just incase i need it for anything. I have £20 saved in my online savings account which i will transfer the extra from my wages into and this will be used to pay my credit cards when they come in. My Tesco statement is due on the 4th August so the money will go towards that one I think i'll pay what i have towards it as i get it instead of making just one payment. Im hoping that by doing this it might make me manage my money a bit better.

I have also emptied my work savings account and also my wedding account so am starting from scratch from the 1st August 2010.

I have £4.14 in the bank and £70 in my purse. I need to buy the food shopping for the house 2moro so im budgeting £40 for this which will leave me £30 for using.... am hoping to have a few NSDs this month which may leave me with money in my purse at the end of every week and if i can i will top my purse up so i have £30 in it which could be done. I will see how i get on the first week.

Hey that's a big drop - well done!!!!! The new approach sounds very sensible. Let's hope we both have a great debt-busting August.

    Hey

It does sound sensible doesn't it.... shame i can't quite get to grips with it yet. I only have £25 left in my purse now but we do have some food in so should only need to buy some bread for during the week.

We are off out to dinner tonight for my dads 60th birthday so am looking forward to that.

Still addicted to farmville on facebook but am trying to not spend too much time on it today :o

Hope everyone else is enjoying the first day in August

    Hey

Im here honest!!! Im actually lying on the couch loaded with the cold and feeling rubbish :(

I haven't looked at the money situation in a while i have just been spending and trying to keep going. Have borrowed more and more money out the wedding fund just to keep my head above water. I've been working non stop in both jobs and its finally caught up with me :( its so not worth it.

Im going to try and get my money book and receipts together to see just how bad things are... will update asap
