Buddiebabe's new beginnings....

Hi

I've decided to start a new diary.... tomorrow is a new month and am looking forward to putting August behind me!!!

Alot of things have happened over the last few years.... and i want to put it all behind me and start again.

My outstanding debts are as follows:

OVERDRAFTS:

ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND £650.00

LOANS:

MUM £745.00
ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND £12049.92

CREDIT CARDS:

DEBENHAMS £1528.85
MBNA £4190.00
ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND MC 1 £7860.00
ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND MC 2 £5156.35
SKY £139.14
TESCO £465.16

TOTALS:
OVERDRAFTS £650.00
LOANS £12794.92
CREDIT CARDS £19339.50

TOTAL OUTSTANDING £32784.42

My debt free date according to the snowball calculator is March 2015

The following are the household outgoings:

Mortgage £451.02
Sky £46.00 (tied into a contract cant change at the moment - have tried!)
HSA £9.75
BT £11.00
RBS LOAN £251.04
NORWICH UNION £13.91 (critical illness cover)
COUNCIL TAX £119.00
SCOTTISH POWER £31.50
CURRENT A/C CHARGE £6.95 (need to keep this until loan is paid off)
AOL £17.99
ZURICH INSURANCE £24.00
ROAD TAX £18.75
MOT & SERVICING £50.00 (need to put this away as my car is a nightmare!!!)
HOUSE INSURANCE £11.67
GAS BILL £35.00
TV LICENCE £10.00
MOBILE PHONE £31.00 (contracted until December - have reduced to the lowest possible)
HOUSE REPAIRS £50.00 (need to get some money put away as there are major roof repairs needing done approx cost £4000.00  )
FOOD £80.00 (approx £20 a week am going to try and cut this down)
XMAS & BIRTHDAY SAVINGS £25.00

Now my outgoings are so much more than the incomings but am trying to work on that. I currently work 2 jobs and my boyfriend gives me £80.00 a week towards the household expenses and i also sell some things on ebay.

September is a new start for me .... new month .... new start .... new spending diary .... new goals!!!

Im setting myself the following goals for this month:

- To pay off £284.42 off my debts (its a low figure but i want to set a figure that i know i can meet... as everytime i set a high figure i feel such a failure and it sets me back)
- To sort out the mountain of ironing in the living room (possibly do some of it :rotfl: )
- To keep a spending diary
- no gambling

I dont want to set too many goals as i am so afraid of failing.... I have had such a rough month last month which led to me going back to gambling and making the debt situation worse so i have to stop that... i managed it for over a year before but things just came to a head last month so now it all stops.

I want to try and update as often as possible

Thanks

Thanks for the kind words of encouragement.

Had a major set back to start the month. My car went into the garage at the end of August as it didn't seem to be working right. Anyway it was something to do with the clutch so it has been fixed but at a cost of £321.00  If i didn't need my car to get me to work i'd have quite happily got rid of it but never mind!!!

I have had to add that to my Skycard which i wasn't happy about but i do have £180 in an account for car servicing and MOT so i will be able to pay that towards the balance.... so it could be much worse...

Will try and update again soon (hopefully with some more positive news  )

  • Good luck Buddiebabe - must feel good to know at least you had some money put away for car emergencies.

Well not really much to update lately but i have unfortunately added to my debts which was not the intention but am hoping things will start to get better from now.

I have paid £10.00 back to my mum for money that i owed her. I have transferred my Debenhams card balance to my Tesco card so that's one card less to worry about. Not much progress made to anything else at the moment but i suppose that's just the way things go.

TOTAL OUTSTANDING £32784.42 at 01.09.08 now £32914.49 at 09.09.08 (due to having the car repaired and some silly spending) with my debt free date now being June 2015

I've set myself some new goals to be met by December 2008 as follows:

    1. Pay off Skycard (£127.11 per month)
    2. Reduce overdraft to £500.00 (£37.50 per month)
    3. Reduce amount owed to mum to £600.00 (£33.75 per month)
    4. Reduce MBNA to £4000.00 (£47.50 per month)
    5. Reduce RBS MC 2 to £5000.00 (£39.09 per month)
    6. Reduce RBS MC 1 to £7500.00 (£90.00 per month)
    7. Reduce TESCO to £1500.00 (£66.20 per month)

Need to pay off £441.15 every month to try and meet these goals. If i can meet them it will bring my debt down by £1764.57

Am going to see if i can think of what to do next

Well i checked my online balances after my last post. My MBNA statement has been produced and interest of £31.98 added. I made a payment of £51.98 tonight.

Now i want to pay £47.50 towards this to reduce the balance but with the interest added on i've only managed to reduce the outstanding balance by £20.00 so i will still need to pay another £27.50 to this  not sure how this is going to work but i've at least paid what the minimum the were looking for £38 was.

I have paid £37.50 towards my reducing my overdraft for this month so i feel like i've made a start.

I have paid the odd 35p to my RBS MC 2 to bring it down to £5160.00 (i also have £97.00 put away for the minimum payment direct debit that is due for this) this is more than the £39.09 that i wanted to pay this month but the min payment is higher so hopefully it will reduce it further and quicker

So this month i still have to do the following:

    Pay £127.11 towards my skycard
Pay £33.75 back to my mum
    Pay £27.50 towards MBNA
Pay £39.09 towards RBS MC 2 (this is already accounted for)
Pay £90.00 towards RBS MC 1
    Pay £66.20 towards TESCO
    Pay £251.04 to my Loan

    Am off to bed now

    Hi Buddiebabe
You seem to be doing well and keeping motivated. I think your small goals are achievable.
Hows the ironing pile going, I had the same problem, I put one thing away a day / each time I passed it and just didnt worry about ironing until it was gone and the next wash load was done. No pile now!!
    All the best

    Hey

The ironing pile... or mountain as it is now... is unfortunately still growing :o I haven't actually done any at all.... oops!!!

I am just going to my 2nd job in a minute so when i get home after i have had my dinner i will iron at least 5 items.... honest! I will not be back on here until its done!!! (you may not see me for some time!)

Since i got in from work today i have managed to do the following:

    - Check all my online banking accounts (no changes)
    - Leave feedback for my ebay items
    - Relist a few ebay items
    - Update my spending diary (for the last few days :o )

Got an email from Quidco confirming that one of the transactions i made in 2006 is now sucessful so am going to be getting the £30.00 im owed from that... i hope... its not showing up as being received or paid so will check again later.... fingers crossed!

Off to work now.... will update later... once some ironing is done

Well i've had a bad few days.... spent friday night and part of saturday gambling.

This however is all in the past.... I went onto every website i have ever registered with on Saturday night and emailed them all to close my accounts. I filled out the exclusion forms so that i cannot open any accounts or log into the ones i have for most of them it would be at least 5 years before i could open an account however some of them let me exclude myself for a life time.

I spent Sunday night trying to get some ironing done. Last night was spent working out everything that i owe out and just how much i have managed to mess things up.

I am determined this time to get back on track.... i understand that people will read this and be thinking likely story and i honestly dont blame them or expect any sympathy. I have wasted the money resulting in getting myself further into debt which is no-ones fault but my own.

I feel that i have taken the first step by excluding myself from these websites and i had the first good nights sleep in a long time on Saturday night.

I was at the doctors tonight and i told her about what i had been doing and told her what i had done and she said that i had taken a step in the right direction. I have also been told to come off my anti-depressants as they don't really seem to be helping.

    OVERDRAFTS:

    ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND £650.00

    LOANS:

    MUM £735.00
    ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND £11798.88

    CREDIT CARDS:

    DEBENHAMS £827.75
    MBNA £4170.00
ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND MC 1 £7982.50
ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND MC 2 £5513.50
    SKY £599.08
    TESCO £1764.80

    TOTALS:
    OVERDRAFTS £650.00
    LOANS £12533.88
    CREDIT CARDS £20857.63

    TOTAL OUTSTANDING £34041.51

I haven't put the details into the snowball calculator yet as i can't face it at the moment. Am going to leave that for another night. If i can do just a little bit every day i'll be pleased with myself.

This is my third gambling free day :j not alot but its a start for me. Will maybe update again later on but no promises.
