  • Well i've looked at the goals i had set myself last week and i've had to revise them

    1. Pay off Skycard at the moment £599.08 need to pay £599.08 = (£149.77 per month)
    2. Reduce overdraft to £500.00 at the moment £650.00 need to pay £150.00 = (£37.50 per month)
    3. Reduce amount owed to mum to £600.00 at the moment £735.00 need to pay £135.00 = (£33.75 per month)
    4. Reduce MBNA to £4000.00 at the moment £4170.00 need to pay £170.00 = (£42.50 per month)
    5. Reduce RBS MC 2 to £5000.00 at the moment £5513.50 need to pay £513.50 = (£128.38 per month)
    6. Reduce RBS MC 1 to £7500.00 at the moment £7982.50 need to pay £482.50 = (£120.63 per month)
    7. Reduce TESCO to £1500.00 at the moment £1764.80 need to pay £264.80 = (£66.20 per month)
    8. Reduce DEBENHAMS to £500.00 at the moment £827.75 need to pay £327.75 = (£81.94 per month)

That would mean that the total i would need to pay is £660.67 per month. Now i know that this is not possible based on my current income so am going to aim for half of these amounts to break it down and make things a bit easier so im not pushing myself too much..... does that make sense???

So it would mean that it will take me until April to meet the targets i have set myself.

So the total i need to pay each month to all accounts is as follows:

    1. Skycard £74.89
    2. Overdraft £18.75
    3. Mum £16.88
    4. MBNA £21.25
    5. RBS MC2 £64.19
    6. RBS MC1 £60.32
    7. TESCO £33.10
    8. DEBENHAMS £40.97

Total £330.35 needs to be paid each month....

Will go and have a re-think as to what i need to do to meet these targets.

  • Hi buddiebabe, just had a quick look at your SOA and wondered if you can reduce your sky. You won't be breaking the contract and it may help you with perhaps Tesco or overdraft. We did that in the past and they moaned but were ok about it.

Hi buddiebabe. Well done for stopping the gambling and excluding yourself from all the sites. I'm sure noone here will be unsympathetic - we all have destructive habits of one sort or another.

It would be so helpful if you could increase your income from work a little. Is there any prospect of a promotion? Didn't you say last year when you went for that job that there might be other opportunities in future?

    Thanks for the replies

I will phone Sky next week when im off work and see what i can arrange...

As far as a promotion at work goes there is no chance! I'd actually be much better off time and money wise if i could get a local job as im spending £2000 + a year on travelling to work!!! That is something i will look into once im feeling a bit better.

I was at the doctors last night and they've stopped my tablets as they don't seem to be doing much at all so will see if i start to feel any better.

I have made the following payments:

£179.50 to my RBS MC 1 card (the minimum payment was £179.00)
£97.00 to my RBS MC 2 card (the minimum payment was £97.00)
£0.89 to my TESCO card (this was money i had used on my Tesco card to buy something for one of the girls at work with my shopping so she gave me the money which i paid to the card!!!)
    £5.00 to mum

    Total paid today £282.39

I have still to pay my Skycard and Debenhams card their minimum payments this month. The Debenhams statement has not been made up yet and the Skycard are only looking for £14.00

I get money from my boyfriend 2moro and get paid from my 2nd job on Friday so will see how much i get then.

Better get ready for work as im gonna be late

Well that's me just in from work :j managed to only spend 6p tonight and get 11 items :T they had reduced some baby creams and bath stuff to 1p and when it scanned it went through buy one get one free :D now it wasn't really a necessity but i will use the baby bath stuff... if its good enough for babies its good enough for me!

Im still trying to figure out what i need to pay this month... i know i have set myself targets but I still have other things i need to pay this month all my direct debits are accounted for so its just the credit cards and the savings for the house and car:

    Skycard £14.00
    Debenhams £41.50 (approx min payment)
    Car Insurance £5.00
    TV Licence £5.00
    MOT & Servicing £50.00
    Gas £35.00
    House Repairs £50.00

Total needed to find £200.50  Well i have two weeks of wages from my 2nd job to get and also £160.00 from my boyfriend for the next two weeks and £50 from paypal to come through so it should just about cover everything. It doesn't include food or petrol but i am off work next week so am hoping it will be a holiday at home so no major expenses

Am off to empty my piggybanks now to see what i can find!

Well my money came through from Paypal and also my 2nd job wages. I need to buy some shopping for the house but am going to try and hold off until Monday so we can use up what's in the house this weekend and do a big shop then.

I've managed to make the following payments since last update:

    £3.00 RBS MC1
    £1.50 RBS MC2
    £3.91 TESCO
    £50.00 towards house repairs
    £35.00 towards gas bill
    £5.00 Car Insurance
    £5.00 TV licence

I've also put away £27 for my Skycard bill. I've got £180.00 to take out of the car fund to pay towards the Skycard bill as i had to pay £321 to get the car fixed at the beginning of the month.

Anyway i finished work today for a weeks holiday :j just tonight, 2moro and Sunday to go in my 2nd job then i get to totally relax!!!!

    Off to work again

  • Hi Buddiebabe,

just wanted to wish you look on your journey,

i can completely empathise with you, i too use, or used i should say, gambling as a bit of a crutch and a way to cope, which i hope now is in the past. i have found your diary an inspiration and will be following your journey in hope to help myself too and help me to keep on track. I am unsure whether to start a diary myself, i'm not sure whether at the min it will be putting pressure on myself as if i set goals and i dont reach them it willnot just be me who knows but others will too if that makes sense! anyways enough of me...

good luck on your journey, and enjoy your time off work

Thanks bridget81 its good to know that im not the only one that has went down that road but it seems to be in the past and is getting a bit easier to deal with. I even managed to not enter a sweepstake in the work for the races and i know it was only a bit of fun but i've decided that it would just be a waste of £1.00.

There may be the opportunity for an assistant management position in my 2nd job. Now its something i will really need to think about but its local and it would just be a bit less money that i earn from my main job and there will be no travelling.... which would save £40 a week in petrol £50 a month car maintenance, road tax and insurance so am kinda undecided at the moment. It may not happen but the job may be available in January so no instant decisions needed.

Im supposed to be off from both jobs this week but i've been asked if i'll go into work in my 2nd job on Monday and Wednesday night for 3 hours so it would give me a bit extra money and its not impacting too much on my holiday as my boyfriend will be going to his keep fit classes those nights anyway.

I've also been asked to work some extra hours when i go back to work... instead of finishing at 8.30 i'd be working till 11 for two nights. It'll be hard work and i'll be tired but it'll be worth it in the end... i hope!
