Thats great news for your DD soappie, hope she enjoys the course. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
Well, it's actually dry this morning, but the Usk Canoe Race has been cancelled due to the awful weather we've all been having. Yesterday's local paper said that some properties about 3 miles away were on evacuation standby! I feel so sorry for people who have been flooded. We had it some years ago when the River Avon came for breakfast, but we only lost our downstairs carpets and the tumble dryer. We managed to move everything else higher. Again in the local paper, someone in our area had been flooded for the third time in less than 12 months. It always takes so long for actions such as flood defences and even bringing sand bags round to help.
I got up at around 8 and found half my dailies had been done. Poor DS didn;t sleep at all last night despite his meds, so he'd done the dishwasher, tumble dryer, coffe maker, breadmaker, got the breakfast things ready. let the dogs out and now he's flaked out on the sofa. I'll leave him for a few hours, but then I'll have to wake him or he won't sleep tonight and he has to be in school at 9.
I'm off to do some more painting. Back later.DMP mutual support thread No: 433 - Mortgage - £54,556, Credit cards - £4012, Unsecured loan - £3,376, Other - £419

What a star your DS is Pink - mine would have spent the time on a playstation! He did great in his exams as well.
OH dropping DS2 at football and then finishing painting the kitchen window. Going to do DS1 room first and then I'll pick up as it is right by morrisions and I can get a joint for dinner and return some manderins which were naff. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
Hi everyone :hello:
I've not managed to keep up at all this weektbh with the new routine of me back in work dd1 at high school & dd2 at childminders it was as much as i could do most nights to cook dinner & get ready for the next day, one night we even had takeaway i was so tired (hangs head in shame)
So my list for today is endless ... i've the whole house to clean & tidy before going out this afternoon to visit my parents! I'm not going to post the whole list but keep checking in & listing what i've achieved. So far I have ...- cleared the kitchen worktops of clutter
- loaded the dw
- wiped the worktops
- wiped the cupboard doors
Next i'm going to make a brew if anyone fancies one :coffee: hang the wet clothes on the line cos it's actually dry here for once then tackle the enormous pile of clean clothes in the utility, it's a weeks worth of washing which i've not sorted through yet (hangs head in shame yet again !!)
Will be back with an update later,
Lou x0 -
Thank you so much everyone for all the hugs and support - it's very much appreciated, although I feel a bit of a fraud, as there are lots of you dealing with loads of really difficult stuff.
A rather disturbed night, as DD came in at 11.30pm, then DS1 at possibly 3am, although I woke up, I didn't check the clock. He had obviously had too much to drink, so stayed downstairs - I made him go up to bed when I came downstairs at 9 - unusually late for me!
It's pretty grey and damp here, but we seemed to have missed the worst of the rain. I hope that all the flyladies are staying dry as well. I'm hoping to get to the allotment just to collect some veg, and then I have to finish the planning for next week - which should have been done on Friday - oh well.
AnW's mum - the t-shirts sound fab, I bet they loved them, and you'll never get them off to be washed! My brother went to New York on a minibreak with a girlfriend two years ago, for New Year, and hated every minute of it - although he said that the tour was good! I wanted him to go to the Botanic garden, which is supposed to be wonderful (and which he would have liked) but the girlfriend was more into shopping! The girlfriend is an ex now...
lil_me - the caravan site sounds great! Can you stay there up until the end of October? We used to have a static caravan when I was a child, and spent most weekends and holidays there, and absolutely loved it!
loopy-lou - getting used to a new routine does that, but it will get easier as you all get used to it! If I am too tired to fly, well, at least it doesn't take me long to catch up because the house is in pretty good shape now thanks to this thread! We had a chinese on Tuesday!:D (Very rare event, and it was mostly to celebrate the exam successes!)
soappie - good luck for your DD, I think you're great to help her as well. :T
dustykitten - we have a McArthur Glen outlet not far away, and we usually get the trainers etc there, as there are Reebok, Nike, Adidas and Sportsworld discount shops as well as others. The astros were from either Nike or Reebok, can't remember which. We bought them last term. This time though, we tried in Canterbury, and bought a pair of very bright red Adidas football boots from JJB Sports. £40 - but even that was the reduced price! DS2 is a very keen sportsman, so I know that they will definitely get plenty of use.
Pink Fairy - well done to your DS on his results! It is never too late to become what you were always intended to be0 -
Morning all!
Seems to be dry here too! Got a text from my Mum - she has gone to Cockermouth(?? I have no idea why?? if she told me I have forgotten) and that's an area affected - apparently the river Cocker is a flood risk - I'm betting it's near there then :rotfl: So I am now well stressed as I'm at work tomorrow and the kids are not! They are old enough to stay at home I think...but they (occasionally) argue and I am not able to get home in an emergency!
Lots to do today - DS has gone off to Silverstone - or some such place - for some car thing with a mate of his and her dad - thses two have been friends for almost 10 years now! He even introduced her to his GF!
So prep for school - :coffee: which will do nothing for the rising state of panicI will feel I DREAD THE FIRST DAY OF A NEW SCHOOL YEAR!
but I'll start as I mean to go on!
Catch you later folks ...wishing you warmer, dryer weather, too! Incidentally the pressure on my barometer has risen in the right direction!

Morning all
Had a lazy one here so far but need to go and get some food shopping in and fuel the car at least. Also need to check that A & W have all their uniform ready for school starting on Tues. W is certainly ready to go back, each day for the past 3 he has asked 'Is is school?' when he has woken up.
Better get dressed and get started, see you all later.Official Mascot and Chief Cheerleader for the 'Mortgage Free in Three' Gang0 -

and DH thought to do a BIG FAT NOTHING ALL DAY:mad:
Welcome to my world
Finances all updated - bad news is that even tho I decided not to do a big shop this week, with all the bits n pieces OH bought in the week and I bought yesterday we've already spent over £50 on groceries this month(which does not include household products or toiletries)
michelle - glad you and LO got a better night
Wow Pink Fairy what a lovely thing for your DS to do. Hugs to anyone who has been flooded - touch wood never happened to us and we have a small river only a few feet behind the house
Loopy lou - Its hard working and trying to fly so dont be too hard on yourself. I've been up since 715 and havent done anything constructive yet apart from updated finances on PC, the house is still a sty (but I'm having the weekend off from anything other than essentials) and I'm still sat in dressing gown but I think if its still on offer I'll have another :coffee: then go and shower.
Plan for today
[STRIKE]Finish updating finances[/STRIKE]
Washing (loads of it!)
