Just made the weetabix cake on the grocery challenge thread - smells yummy. Hope it cheers me up a bit - feeling a bit down today after the incident with the parking this morning - some woman put a note on my car after OH had moved it to an available space asking me to be more considerate of other road users - I was! There was a big people carrier parked on the grass verge really close to the edge, so I'd parked a bit further out from the curb so they would be able to get in - you could easily get a car past me, but you had to slow down to do so instead of driving like a maniac! I'm sure I'm being sensitive cos Auntie Flo is due to visit, but it really upset me, particularly as the reason there are no spaces is because there is a bloody caravan parked in them!
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Sorry, welcome wilf. The best place to start in my opinion (if you wanted to start today and not when the new thread is up tonight) is your bedroom, as it's nice to have a restful place to crash out in when you're tired. Start by having a real declutter - I usually do a floordrobe clearance first (getting all of the dirty clothes off the floor and into the laundry basket). Then I go round with the recycling bin (small one we have in our kitchen) and throw out any bits of paper that aren't needed any more. I do this as a 27 fling boogie (turn some music on if appropriate, and find 27things to get rid of). Your children are now old enough to do these chores too, so get them to do their floordrobes, and I expect you'll have another load of washing to do then.

By the way, all of the tasks for the day are posted on the first post of the thread, including definitions of abbreviations etc. Remember, start small with babysteps, and celebrate all achievements, whether small or not. Your house didn't get messy in just a day, so you won't clear it in just a day.

I try not to play catch-up any more - what's not done on the day will come around the following week. I found that after a couple of weeks, the difference was amazing.

    Hope this helps,

    sexymouse xx

  • [strike]Morning[/strike] Afternoon all...

Very late night yawn2.gifand copious amounts of :coffee: this morning to help my throat recover - lots of sing.gifand think I scared off some of the alkies there :rotfl:

I've been lurk.gif on here this morning catching up and watchin GP as I go - Johanne, Hubby HAS to watch it, I have no say on this particular thing. It's the only thing that I have to put up with every other weekend and as he's not into 'kisschase' (as he calls football coz they are always kissing and hugging each other after a goal), or any other sort of sport apart from motors, I don't mind too much (I watch my NCIS or Bones in peace then thumbsup_anim.gif)

Serena will be thinking of you on Tuesday, I'm sure you will be a big support for your Dad :grouphug:
Valli and Greenbee saw these and thought of you both! Admin.gifadminpower.gif hehe

Not done anything this weekend apart from shopping and loading DW - been very lazy and can't understand why I'm so tired all the time - think I need to do some exercisebike.gif to get my energy levels working - am about to go get dressed (I know, lazy cow) and put some washing on ready for tomorrow then may move my butt into the spare room and start on that washing pile .... we'll see ..... I think I need my Buttkick.gif

Sexymouse, you have turned me into a mad woman.... :rotfl:

    Afternoon

Welcome wilf55, sounds like you have a challenge there!

Mudbath - it is never ending, but like SM I'm no longer playing catch up and I'm roping everyone else in (or there'll be big trouble)

Hello and hugs n stuff to everyone else who's busying themselves today.

Since last post I went up and decided to run a bath rather than shower (such luxury) then decided doogie needed a hair cut which took over an hour by which time bath needed a serious hot top up. So now Soxy is lovely and shorn, bathed and blowdried which hopefully will stop some of her itching (which isnt fleas, they'd be easy to deal with, just wish we knew what it was). Now need to frontline her again and clean up the dog hair that has magically found its way through the house.

Urgently need to get chook in oven as otherwise will be eating at midnight and sort the washing which I still havent done - and I'm seriously hungry.

Slopes off for food and a cuppa

I second the advice sexymouse gave you, but also dont just sit there looking at the mess, pick a room, set a timer and do half an hour. Makes a huge difference. Monday morning have a look at whatever room Pigpen has set and do at least half an hour on it, as the weeks go on it gets a lot easier.

Finally got a bit of sunshine here so I should be weeding but the green waste bin is jam packed, as are my compost heaps. Instead I have the self imposed task of deep cleaning the LR/Playroom so it has some visible carpet and we can actually watch TV without feeling slightly ill at the volume of stuff in there. Sadly the children are making mess faster than I can tidy up and I may commit infanticide shortly.

Also must clean the chicken shed out before the rain starts again. Poor smelly chickens.

pigpen - I'd love to hear that you're going for the course, but either which way, you'll get where you want to be in the end - hence my signature...:D I like the idea that you're having a day off and just doing the washing - what do you do on a day you want to be busy???;)

    Busy day is..

Completing a whole days list, catching up on washing (8 loads so far today) 4 loads on the line, 2 in dryers and 2 in the machines, Vacuuming downstairs, forcing DS1 to find his bedroom floor, Making the boys put away all their stuff and filling 2 binbags of rubbish. Folding and putting away said laundry. S&S of the bathrooms and kitchen.. and dealng with whatever else needs doing.

Today I am dealing with a burn.. mine of course!!

Pigpen - I agree about the dog and cat licensing and compulsory neutering. My cats are brother and sister and I didn't even let them out til they'd been "done", coz I didn't want any extra moggies. (Mind you, Tigger is such a woos he still doesn't go out - ever! When we first moved here, he met the Bully Ginger cat from up the road, and that was that! :o)

I have always had 2 from the same litter.. apart from my 3 rescues!! I did the same with the bunnies.

Hi wilf!! I know EXACTLY how you feel! I have 4 kids (8, 7, 4 and 5months) and my house was a PIT. Ex hubby never helped tidy up and kids were too young to help (not anymore though) I got rid of hub as he contributed too much mess (although I certainly wouldnt suggest you do THAT!) What i can suggest is that you follow the list each day, doing bits here and there and i PROMISE you will be amazed by the difference you can make. My house was terrible but knuckling down and doing just a few tasks will made a huge difference. My house is a much nicer place to be in now, simply because im the sort of person that is discplined by having a list to follow.

You've said you've already done your bedroom, well done :T when it comes up on the list to do your bedroom again, you'll find you've got hardly anything to do!!

keep with it , you can make a huge difference!!

there are LOADS of good little tips frpm everyone on here too...one im going to use myself is to make the kids earn their pocket money by giving them jobs from the weekly list!! keep reading, keep tidying..cant wait to hear how its going

    good luck x
