Cowsandcards wrote: »Hi there, this is my first season too. You never can tell with Toddler groups. Have done a few now, at the first took orders for £50 and a further order hit the doormat for £60 following week. Then did one where I took £9 as the lady who runs the group took pity on me and bought 10 cards. I did one on Monday too and took about £10 but have a lead for someone interested in becoming a Phoenix Trader so potentially my first sponsor, so in my view that would be a success.
I view Toddler groups as a good place to build up your contacts. I have found that the parents/carers at the groups are interested in the product but don't have the time to have a proper look )other than buy a quick card for the birthday they have just remembered) as have one or more toddler in tow. I therefore hold a free prize draw with a family organiser as a prize and get everyone there to enter by writing down their name and contact details on a prepared sheet. I also ask them to indicate whether they do not wish to receive any updates/brochures from PT. I have approx 50 contacts who want to see the next brochure by doing this. Also if I think it is not working at a partic group on a partic day I would not be afraid to pack up and go so not to waste my time.
So please don't be disheartened you can just never tell with these groups or any event for that matter. I am going to another toddler group tomorrow so will let you know how that goes.
How do you determine the winner, do you use raffle tickets?Thank you to all OPs

Quick question, how much commission do you make for online sales?0
-
I've never signed up for a website so can't answer the online sales query but surely 30% the same??
For those that do have a website does it work well?
How do I go about asking Phoenix to create some event posters?
I'm going to stock up on 10 of each of my best sellers before the price increase-what are other people doing??0 -
I believe you still get the same rates of commission, although if a client pays by debit/credit card, they are effectively paying by paypal, and of course paypal fee's will be deducted.
Thank you to all OPs

what are ur best sellers top 10... as i have only done a few sales as a newbie is hard to tell whats the best... ladies seem to like the jotters ans organisers0

I cut up the sheets that people leave their contact details on (3 sets of contact details to a sheet, including intro to prize draw) to make individual slips and then fold and place in a small box. Once the draw has been done I staple together and add a note on top so I know where I have collected them from.
Plan is to have some sort of database or card box system with all the details I collect for future contact - not quite worked that bit out yet!!0 -
Did the other Toddler Group on Wednesday and a had a good morning. There were quite a few Childminders there who all bought photocards to give to the parents of their mindees. One Childminder even rang her two friends who also both put in an order over the phone! I also got a party booking. So you really can never tell...0

Keeping customer's details - as advised by the firm, and as needed by our businesses - puts us in need of registering under the Data Protection Act, which now covers paper records as well as computerised ones.
Does anyone know what we do about that?

Hi, my normal bestsellers are probably:
DC29 Fairy cakes (can not keep enough in stock!)
DC14 Dance Fever
S90 Cupcakes
CM11 Purple Irises
DC Women
DC Girls night
JY30 Great Birthday
S105 Happy Birthday pattern
S73 Cars Happy Birthday
HS06 Dictionary of Bras
I find the accessories are quite variable - sometimes people buy a few jotters, bookmarks etc, sometimes I just sell mainly cards, so I think I'll just stock up on the cards before the price increase. I have sold a lot of the House advent calender card, but part of this reason could be because I'm always showing it to people and telling them its my favourite item!
I'll be interested to see what everyone else's replies are! (Thanks for telling me about this forum BTW, it's FAB! Gina xx)0 -
