Phoenix Trading - Hints and Tips

I never knew that phoenix did that, do they really, that would be great.
Im in braintree in essex. I have a hall and have provisionally booked the date, going there friday to sort it all out. Thinking of doing it for a local charity. I have just registered with netmums, so i will look into that tonight, at the moment i am wrestling with my two year old (he is trying to get at the computer). The fair has been going for a few years now but the lady who normally organises it cannot do it this year, so i asked at the hall and they said that i could do it if i wanted. It is normally very popular, hope it will be this year. Booked it for the 29th november, so not long to organise, but i figure that if i get the leaflets and posters done asap, and then i have the hall and date. Just need the people and the stalls,   .0 -
How much would you charge for a stall, need to cover cost of hall etc, must dust off the calculator.0

It was hard work getting all the stock and supplies into the car and out again as i live on a green so had to load all the stock onto a wagon and wheel it and the buggy with DD in to the car, then vice versa when i got there and for a measly £13. it has kinda put a dappener on things really.
I have done a party at my mums house and got lots of orders, £260 worth which i thought was blinking Fabulous, that was last week.
So was wondering if any of you ladies have good and bad days at toddler geroups or is it always small amounts?
I have one booked for tomorrow but blimey, I have to go through all the kerfuffle again and for what... i'm hoping its better but i guess you can never tell untill you are there.
so yes would someone give me some feedback on there toddler group experiences. are they worth doing do u actually get any orders or is it just stock purchases?
One disheartened PT
I have had good and bad days at toddler groups.
One toddler group I took only £13, although a lady who took a brochure placed an order a couple of weeks later.
One toddler group I took £15, although I later found that I have a potential trader to sponsor as a result of placing a freepost card in the bag.
Some toddler groups I have taken a lot more.
This morning I took only £5 at a toddler group, although brochures were taken.
The thing to remember, is that you never know what is just around the corner.
I also find it very difficult loading/unloading the car and setting up/packing away, since I have ME. So attending toddler groups are very challenging for me. Although I do believe it is worth it.Thank you to all OPs

Does anyone know where i can get a tablecloth from, that fits a 6ft table, but that also touches the floor at the front and sides, i am thinking of going to a fabric shop and asking them to cut me the right size piece, but i just wondered if they could be bought readymade for a good price.
I purchased a double flat sheet in woolworths for around £3, which I use as a tablecloth.Thank you to all OPs

Cowsandcards wrote: »Hi there, this is my first season too. You never can tell with Toddler groups. Have done a few now, at the first took orders for £50 and a further order hit the doormat for £60 following week. Then did one where I took £9 as the lady who runs the group took pity on me and bought 10 cards. I did one on Monday too and took about £10 but have a lead for someone interested in becoming a Phoenix Trader so potentially my first sponsor, so in my view that would be a success.
I view Toddler groups as a good place to build up your contacts. I have found that the parents/carers at the groups are interested in the product but don't have the time to have a proper look )other than buy a quick card for the birthday they have just remembered) as have one or more toddler in tow. I therefore hold a free prize draw with a family organiser as a prize and get everyone there to enter by writing down their name and contact details on a prepared sheet. I also ask them to indicate whether they do not wish to receive any updates/brochures from PT. I have approx 50 contacts who want to see the next brochure by doing this. Also if I think it is not working at a partic group on a partic day I would not be afraid to pack up and go so not to waste my time.
So please don't be disheartened you can just never tell with these groups or any event for that matter. I am going to another toddler group tomorrow so will let you know how that goes.
I like the idea of the free prize draw :TThank you to all OPs

Hi there.
has your venue got public liability insurance, i have read that you need this but i am not sure. As phoenix traders we have this, i dont know if you have read about it in the november newsletter ( i looked at it as a download). Do you need public liability insurance.0 -
Can I just ask, if I pay just the £45 and maybe the £50 to get the first level of starter kit, can I buy one of those kits again in the future or are they only available when you first start?
How do you then update your kit? Do you just buy cards at a 30% discount or is it a case of the more you buy the cheaper it is?
Thanks

I think the kits are just for newcomers so just have 1 chance to buy them. you update ur kit by just buying more cards singley which is a pain but at least u know what ur gonna get. u can order online or over the phone, online is easier i think, no faffing just type in the card code and away u go. your first order after your business back order is free P&P after that its about £3 - £7 depending on how much u spend. the cards are about 53p +VAT and u sell them for £1 so 30p profit. when buying more 10 or more cards the customer gets them for 90p each but i don't think the price goes down for us. I have bought too much gift wrap really so you need to know what is going to sell and what wont and don't go over board
also there will be a price rise in January so some customers might be put off by this. though if you buy ur cards now at todays price u can sell them in the new year at the inflated price, thats more profit. but just wanted to let you know. think they are going up to £1.20 retail, perhaps someone can check this.
