Hi all.
Really glad I found this thread! I am a newbee! Have a couple of questions - I spoke to my gym about having a stall there and for a day it would cost £40! My first thought was this is too much but does anyone think this could work for me!?!?! Really eager to find some new places to sell.
Also I have a couple of fairs coming up and I would like more stock to display on the days but am worried about spending out too much in advance - any tips/ warnings etc?
Re Baskets to businesses - I have sent one off with my sis and mum and included a note in the basket asking payments to be passed to them. I read earlier about leaving them with a receptionist (and offering 10%) which soundsike a good idea! but I would be reluctant to leave anything where you don't have a reliable contact! You could just leave brochures and address/ number/ email for orders rather then the items.
**As a little display idea I love the teacup cards so I bought some cute little cups from a charity shop and use these to hold bookmars and ribbon when I do a fair/ party! Just a small idea but makes it look a bit nicer and in keeping with the PT idea**
Thanks for all the ideas on here! Has made me feel more hopeful, Sian :rotfl:0 -
Hi there,
I also have a fair coming up, and i was pondering the same question. I decided to invest in some more stock. I thought that if it sells then great, but if it doesnt then i will have stock for the fairs next year. As for the stall for £40, i guess you wont know until you try, i have paid similar for my stall at a fair in december, i thought i will try it the once and if it doesnt go well then i know not to pay that sort of money again.
Does anyone know where i can get a tablecloth from, that fits a 6ft table, but that also touches the floor at the front and sides, i am thinking of going to a fabric shop and asking them to cut me the right size piece, but i just wondered if they could be bought readymade for a good price.0 -
Hi all!
I've requested an info pack today and can't wait to get started!!!
Did everyone by one of the starter packs and if so, which one? We're a bit strapped for cash at the moment so I'd like to know how much I really need to spend?
I currently do Virgin Vie and am looking forward to a bit of a change!
I love Phoenix cards too!!! I'm going to have to try and stop myself from buying them all for myself!

Hi, I've been a PT for about 2-3 weeks now, and did my first Toddler group today and it was very dissapointing. only took £13 and luckily the leader didn't want the 10%. It was hard work getting all the stock and supplies into the car and out again as i live on a green so had to load all the stock onto a wagon and wheel it and the buggy with DD in to the car, then vice versa when i got there and for a measly £13. it has kinda put a dappener on things really.
I have done a party at my mums house and got lots of orders, £260 worth which i thought was blinking Fabulous, that was last week.
So was wondering if any of you ladies have good and bad days at toddler geroups or is it always small amounts?
I have one booked for tomorrow but blimey, I have to go through all the kerfuffle again and for what... i'm hoping its better but i guess you can never tell untill you are there.
so yes would someone give me some feedback on there toddler group experiences. are they worth doing do u actually get any orders or is it just stock purchases?

Hi Tinks,
i bought the largest pack so with business pack it came to £195. just a note, that the cards do not come in cello bags, the giftwrap comes in massive unfolded sheets so you may want cellos for them and the gift tags are loose too. you have to buy cellos seperate and do them yourself (which took a while) but u cant buy them at the same time because of the £200 limit in 7 days rule. also they are not self sealing so u need stickers to seal them down. Though it depends how you want to display your cards/giftwrap, some chose not to have cello, i personally prefer them, keeps the cards dust free and finger print free.
The cards are very nice and well worth the money though i thought the Xmas cards were a tad expensive but it doesn't seem to stop people buying them.
Wishing u well0 -
Hello again...
I haven't really done much in the way of selling, even though I've been a trader for 3 years! I've only really done sales through family and a couple of friends
If I went by my experience I would never do another fair again going by the results of the only ONE I have ever done... but I have determined I can't decide from one try... so my 2nd fair is booked a week on saturday.
I have some stock still from my initial introductory and christmas offers... I found they weren't actually what my custoimers wanted to buy, and so have been saddled with it! This year I am going to try reducing the price of those items just to get rid of it from my spare room. Then I may rebuild the stock with items that I think will sell better.
As for a tabecloth... I used a bed sheet - that way I knew it would cover the table, as I didn't have measurement. Don't forget safety pins though, to stop it from being pulled down too easily!
Still haven't got around to finding my upline... NOTE TO SELF - do it now while you are on the computer!
Good luck to all with events in the next couple of weeks
xx
Sara
PS - edited to add - I've done it now, sent them an e-mail! :T0 -

I view Toddler groups as a good place to build up your contacts. I have found that the parents/carers at the groups are interested in the product but don't have the time to have a proper look )other than buy a quick card for the birthday they have just remembered) as have one or more toddler in tow. I therefore hold a free prize draw with a family organiser as a prize and get everyone there to enter by writing down their name and contact details on a prepared sheet. I also ask them to indicate whether they do not wish to receive any updates/brochures from PT. I have approx 50 contacts who want to see the next brochure by doing this. Also if I think it is not working at a partic group on a partic day I would not be afraid to pack up and go so not to waste my time.
So please don't be disheartened you can just never tell with these groups or any event for that matter. I am going to another toddler group tomorrow so will let you know how that goes.0 -

I think the important thing is not to get yourself too strapped by buying a starter pack bigger than you can afford.
I bought the biggest one, and haven't actually got into it yet, as I'm still waiting to collect the cellos that my sponsor has ordered for me, because I couldn't order them both at once.
The business pack for £45 is terrific, there are dozens of samples - spread out on my friends table while I was exploring the pack, I got a good order just like that -
There are also some very interesting articles in the Australian newslatters, (which you can read after you join up) including two from two different traders, one who nearly always sells from samples, and one who always sells from stock. Different styles, both very successful.
I am lucky in that I could spend £195 without *having* to make it back very quickly; I would suggest that you don't put yourself under that much pressure. The extra percentage won't actually profit you unless you sell it all, and then you'd need to buy more stock anyway.

LOL Me too... where abouts are u? If you go on your local Netmums website you can post a message on there and ladies reply, like osbourne books, ladies selling their own items, jewellery, hangbags. i got a fair few this way.
when is your event.
I have a venue and a charity just needs some courage now and just go for it haha. whats the worst that could happen hey .
will it be a fundraiser because people like that, have a raffle, everyone who has a stall could donate something to be raffled off.
I think Phoenix Trading will design the flyer for u too, I think you send them all the details and they do the rest. which i thought was brill.
Lets do this thing :rotfl:0
