i'm going to give that a go too, i always put the birthday cake inside... i guess if its on top they see straight the way. simple but brilliant.
i went to a bowling club yesterday before taking all my stuff out of the car i just thought i'd go and have a look see where they want me, it s ruddy good job because no-one knew i was coming, i told them i had a poster up for the last 2 weeks. another gentleman said turnouts on a thursday morning is never good, i should go on a wednesday afternoon... why didn't they say that in the first place... dohso i just went home and spent the morning with my daughter mum, dad and grandma, it was a nice morning

Just did 4 hr sale, took £50, sold jotters and bookmarks-made a display of each sticking bookmarks into organza covered oasis in basket and a laminated 50p tag, nothing else sold well, no Family organisers and £15 for the boxes?? everyone turned and walked when I said the price!!!0

its weird how somethings sell one week then the next nothing... thats a great idea for the bookmarks as i never know how to display them, or the giftwrap and tags either to tell you the truth. i just sold all my floristry stuff on ebay, typical hey, i had baskets and oasis.
i guess £50 is ok still... though depends on outlays. I did a party last night, took £100 which wasn't too bad considering not many ppl were there and i was only there for about 2 hrs. but haven't got any lined up to do
people are liking the christmas wish list at the mo, i give them the royal mail santa address with it which they seem to like. going to see if i can get a few more of those in just a few mind, time is running out and don't want to be lumbered with them.0 -

Hi Guys,
Just joined up so we can reply to your posts. We're newish traders but we think we know all the answers (haha), have done MLM before and picked up tips then we join PT due to the absolutely fabulous value for money the products offer.
Anyway, we seem to do very well with doordrops, so will give u 1 or 2 ideas.
The doordrop packs we use sound the same as you have already mentioned, we put a slip of paper stating they will be collected on Mondays, not sure if you do as well; We find that any road will do, we started off with roads we knew worked with other MLM but now go to any road we feel happy with, (including the BIG posh ones). Esp. if they have other catalogues out ready for collection.
One thing that maybe different is we drop them on Friday and collect Monday, We keep quite detailed records. We also have a follow up system in place that sounds a little like one mentioned here before. We do knock the door if no catalogue is outside.
Results
We've done this for about 6 months on and off, mainly down to us not realising how successful you can be if you try just a little bit harder!!:). Now we are really into it and going great guns. We find we lose about 10% cats each week, we achieve 2 orders out of each 100 cats dropped, and aim for £20 in total orders. Every one who orders goes on our mailing list and each set of cards are delivered with all the trimmings to encourage further orders.
We have now moved our game up to a more "professional" level and we are monitoring our profitablity more closely. As someone mentioned here before THE best way is thru friends & family but if you're looking to build a business you do need to look further afield.
As we have no friends we are pursuing the doordrop and fete/fair route, with some very good results.
Have fun,

sounds like you have a plan... but if you're only getting 2 orders out of every 100 brochures dropped do you then
1)place a little order
2)just wait a few weeks till you have a fair few orders to order... or
3)do you have enough stock in your home? or
4)something else
I am planning to do door to door next week with some brochures and wondering about making small orders with phoenix and the cost of P&P.0 -
Hiya,
Yes to all of them (except probably No.1). We have quite a bit of activity with, fairs and school life etc so we tend to have enuff to order twice a month. So long as one covers the £3 cost we dont mind paying £6 on the other cos, so long as we clear the 125 threshold we will get a commission back that will cover postage. We are just starting so we don't mind only make small profits at mo, we are looking long term.
Re. the small order syndrome, we find we have a very helpful ET upline and he normally has what we want. If you're on facebook join the PT group and u'll seee people there willing to swap etc.
Good Luck

Hi PaulJulia welcome, it seems like a lot of work to drop 100 brochures, get 2 leads and only take total orders of £20, thats a fiver profit?! I presume you are doing this lots and lots to increase your client base?
If this helps I find small company drops much easier and more profitable-10-20 orders per one basket drop-average £160-£200 in total, leave it there 3 days then drop at the next one-industrial units are easy as they're all together.
Fetes/fayres I had one every weekend until Christmas booked but after 3 pretty poor showings and takings have cancelled a few and will do an extra business drop per week and make at least double-4 x the amount I took yesterday!!
You win some you lose some!!!
I've also just done a HUGE order to bulk buy the majority of nexts years projected stock requirements (yes I have a huge detailed-very sad-database??!!)to buy cheaper now and be able to make a more healthy profit come the new year when prices rise.
Please post any new ideas great to share ideas.

Hi
when u say basket drop, do you just take a basket full of brochures (about how many) and order forms there and leave with receptionist?0 -
Hi, medium hamper brimming with cards, and products(keep a list of whats in it if you can)plus 4 or 5 brochures so they can be passed around the office, with about 20 triplicate order forms-make a laminated note to tie to hamper lid with easy bullet points of how to order /and or take stock from basket.
HTH!!! If receptionist very helpful and to encourage I offer them 10% off their order.0
