ArmitageShanks, is it worthwhile adding some top up insurance information to the op? I've just asked around about this so I've got some current information for you if it's useful?

ppw express: £500 top up is £9
interparcel: £500 top up is £10
express packages: £500 top up is £5
payperparcel doesn't currently offer top up insurance but they say they're looking into it

    Hope that helps :-)
    Added, many thanks.
  • i have been using www.shippingmanager.co.uk for the past few weeks. works out at 5.99 plus VAT for their dhl service. previously i was a parcels2go user but i find shipping manager much quicker.
  • hi, i just want to let you know i used this website www.mhdirectcouriers.com today to send 5 uk parcel and 2 parcel rep ireland, i recieved and email about an hour later informing me if i became a regular customer to them, that in return i would get a 30% discount on all DHL services.
    Interesting.

so when i signed up i recieved my promotional code of 30%, ok, lets try it.
    so i ordered 2 x dhl @ home 48hr at 9.49+vat = 22.30 - 30%= 15.61 all in.
i am happy as i have reduced my costs now and got a bargain at 7.80 per parcel, but i think it depends on how many parcel you with them, as if i sent over 200 parcel per month then i think it is 35%? but these are also for the dhl european service, i think.

but i just throught i'd better share the info.

    hope this help you, thanks

£7.80 per parcel is not a good price,
  • Can someone that uses Express Packages Deliveries advise me on their maximum sizes? If they use Parcelforce I assume there maximum size box would be a girth + length of 3m. But Express Packages Deliveries states 1.2m x 0.8m x 0.8m in their listing. That would be well over Parcelforce dimensions. Which is right?

I am using EPD for the first time...my dimensions are over the Parcel force requirements too. EPD are fully aware of the dimensions and have booked in the parcel. Will see what happens...

Which leads to my next question....

Using the MSE mantra that there's no such thing as a stupid question...:o

how do I attach the parcelforce invoice to the package? Do I put in in an envelope? Or do I sellotape the A4 piece of paper down?

  • I echo soolin's post 100%, and add that you are very easy to spot. Also bear in mind that such activities will casue a certain degree of disdain towards the company and as such can have very negative implications. For those who are tempted I would suggest consulting the previous thread and monitor the implactions it had for direct parcel delivery.

...on that matter claire12 could you give us the ppw booking number and the date you booked it? Just so we can be sure there is nothing untoward.

Well, after waiting for 3 days for collection from Direct Parcel Delivery I cancelled... absolute joke. They refunded my money without fuss off the back of my email though...

  • I have a package of only 2.9kg, but the dimensions are 72cm x 49cm x 34cm. The cheapest quote was £119.99.
The item is an ebay item worth only £28.
I know that apart from the "normal" couriers there are also other smaller couriers that operate in between UK and other European countries, i.e. couriers that would only go to Romania charge £1.50/kg of weight. They go on the road, so surface mail. Size does not come into account. It's just the actual weight. I am aware that Israel is further, but I assume that there would be such services offered for the Jewish community from the UK who want to send things, luggage, etc to their extended families in Israel and viceversa.
    Anybody knows of such couriers?

    Many thanks in advance

I sorry, can i ask why do you want me to provide my ref number for ppw express???
what good would this do for the none collection of my item, which we have had to send with somebody else, if you are nothing to do with ppw express, can you please explain why you would want to know this information?????

if you are asking me for this information which is between me and them, unless you are a cover for ppw express!

The authenticity of your post at face value looks debatable. It seems a little odd that for someone who has used couriers for the 3 years not understanding that occasionally you will have failed collections.

Providing that info can prove in an instant you're not making it up- not just for me but all ppw customers and everyone else...no argument, just your choice.
