What really hurts is that if it hadn't happened then I'd only be owing about £25k now.
Had to laugh at the pscychotic cat.0 -

hope everything sorts out soon with the insurance claim. Weather's terrible isn't it? Its so bad i've decided to brave the filing cabinet and clear it out, i really want to get rid of it and put it into one of those small filing boxes to save space.0

Hi you two,
Thanks for that.Things must be bad if you're doing the filing cabinet...LOL.
Just been having a discussion with DH and I think we have a plan!!!!!
We have £3851 in the offset of which £3500 and something was going to be removed to pay the tax bills in jan. This is obviously getting interest on it every month so will be best left where it is if possible and continue to be added to as I can.
Following so far.....
If we get £2500 plus his loss of earning we will near enough have enough to pay the tax bills (and if we get it in time)....hence leaving the money offsetting still gaining interest....
Also I was thinking as my CCs are on interest free I would be better putting as much as I can in the offset also gaining more interest...then paying them off from that money just before the interest runs out.
If I could pay Virgin..A+L over the post office counter or at the bank I can also pay at least £300 per month off them as DH gets £150 p/m pension and DD pays £150 p/m board on top of this we also have tips.So may manage to apy them off before the 0% is up.
What do you all think?...I love seeing the totals come down but gaining interest in the offset is better!!!!0 -
I think Taxi leaving the money in the offset is good at the moment, you don't want to risk taking it out and NOT having enough for the tax bill!, if it is in there earning money for you then you can take it all in January and slap the load onto bills.Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

That's what I was thinking.Hopefully I won't need to touch it.I need to start making what little we have work for us.Just posted a thread to see if anyone knows if i can pay Virgin,A+L at a PO or my bank.0

I am going to say different, and say that I would pay it off the debt (once the tax bill is paid obviously) - I personally prefer to see the debt coming down rather than the savings going up, even though there might be a small interest benefit!

for some reason, i've a feeling you can pay A&L at the post office but i could be way out of date now.0
