Hi taxi, I feel sure you and your OH will get through the recession OK, as you are obviously hard workers and good managers. That's not to dismiss your worries though. I'm feeling anxious too....

Taxi, I think that can only be a positive way in which to drum up business. I always use your firm as I like the answering system :D
You have got your head screwed on as to how to manage the finances and you and OH work together as a team. We had a lady driver in the shop a couple of weeks ago and she was almost in tears.....apparently she relies on the illuminations trade to get her through  I've always considered that part of the season to be the 'icing' on the cake, rather than the cake itself.

Anyhoo, enough drivel from me. It sounds as though you have got Christmas covered and as you say, you can always save towards a little holiday for 2010 and book it nearer the time if circumstances permit.
Hope your back is feeling better and those pounds are dropping off.

Just noticed your next post is your 6,000th so make it a good one!

Even though you've had some serious setbacks this year, you have still paid off nearly 30k of debt, and had a holiday (or was it two?) and fitted new windows. That suggests to me you could take a drop in income without getting into serious difficulties. You may be able to have a holiday in 2010 after all, don't write it off yet.

Thanks all...Whatatwit your taxis are now cheaper from today then.We have a load of leaflets to give out regarding it as well.Just need some places to put them.
The dieting has gone by the wayside this week as I've been panicing a bit.I will get back into it tomorrow though. You are all right we should be able to get through this...there are a lot of people worse off than us.So I should be grateful for that!!!!...it'sso annoying that things out of my control keep setting me back, illness, car crash, illness etc....
Right I 'll stop feeling sorry for myself now and just knuckle down.

I wish I could remember where I read it, but someone was spouting that the worst of the recession is over........

It was somewhere on the BBC news site.

I can't see that as HSBC and Santander are both looking for finance and they are supposed to be the most stable banks.I think the BBC are maybe being gagged at the moment to try and get confidence going.I actually heard the word depression on sky news this morning!!!!

Taxi, I'm sure I know a local shop that will pin one up for you

I'll PM you my address, then you or OH can pop some through the letterbox....it's dreadful by the shop at the moment since they started playing around with the water mains  again...
