Good Morning All
Smokey - I too think the headstone is a very good idea
Hester - good luck up the tower.
Very mild here today but no sunshine, may come out later. Puppy is keeping me on my toes in the mornings - need to shower but will have to wait till DS gets up to keep an eye on him!
OH got on ok at the hospital yesterday, no obvious problems other than slow pulse and erratic heart beat - has futher tests next week.
Shall get on with some paperwork this mornng, some washing and ironing later. Kids want to go out on the boat later so hopefully will do that when OH is up. No idea whats for dinner, may be burgers and chips.
Have a lovely day.

SD I often make french bread in BM but take it out and shape it into baguettes its lovely ( kids often cut it in half and make pizza with it)
Mioliere thats so sad and such a beautiful gesture you are making:T
just back from 3 days in London. What a FANTASTIC place!! did all the touristy things. it was fantastic listening to Big Ben strike 12, and cruise down the river.
we went to Harrods of course and then to sloane street?? I think where all the designer shops are. Me and DD1 and DD2 wanted to go in but none of us dare because there was security guards at the doors:rotfl:
saw Lee Mead in his loin cloth:T
the show was amazing
did all the other tourist places(loved the underground) and have a huge blister on my foot from walking so much. totally worth it.
people living in London are so lucky. ( its quite expensive though)
so today I have loads of washing to do. DD1 and DD2 want me to take them shoping for new uniforms:eek: . got back from london to a car bill (service MOT) of £400
hope everyone has a great day xx0 -
Squiggly_Diddly wrote: »SunnyD - what's the french loaf like? I was saying to my mum yesterday I might try one - do you get the BM to do the dough then shape it into a stick, or just cook it in a loaf shape??
Have a great day
Squiggly the french loaf is lovely.
I`ve tried both ways of making it, i made the loaf one first and tried the sticks afterwards.
We both prefer the loaf and of course there is no need to have the oven on so more moneysaving there. It can be difficult to cut unless it`s left standing for a while but makes the softest sandwiches. We love it toasted and the slices cut in half and smothered in garlic butter
Mioliere - your post brought tears to my eyes, even more so when i thought of your Mother recieving her new doll. :A .
The remoska is now turned off after the chicken has been cooked for one hour and fifteen minutes, the chicken is still in there as the remmy stays hot for ages.
I`ll report back later when i`ve taken it out and examined it.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon

Morning Chums , I have had a busy week with all my visitors .They will be off this afternoon back to Colchester and it will seem strange to be on my own again.
I managed to sort out a train ticket to Manchester for next month .Only £17.15 one way.I spoke to my nephew and he will pick me up from the station and will be driving me back to Kent on the Sunday. Fingers crossed that the sun will shine that week-end as I have never been to Bury before.
I am so looking forward to meeting my cousin from Australia .I think she is very brave to be flying all that way on her own at 88.
I have a huge pile of ironing to do tonight as its been piling up this week, still I have a lot of catch up t.v. to watch as I do it so its not too bad.
We had a lovely day at Chatham Dockyard yesterday, as my friends had never been there, and my DD was working there as a tour guide, so it was nice for them to see what their goddaughter did to earn a crust. I think we are going for a drive in the country this morning if the weather stays nice as my pal wants to see some kentish countryside. They will be off home at teatime . We went for a meal last night and I bumped into another old friend whom I hadn't seen for nearly 5 years .All in all I have had a really good week if a little tiring .
<<hugs to all in need>> and I hope everyone has a good week-end.The forecast is good for a change ,but then it would be as the children are going back to school.
take care all

Good morning all
Another rotten night's sleep.
Feel tired today but need to get some stuff done so lots of caffeine will be the order of the day. DS has just come in to say that he feels under the weather so it must be catching.
Smoky I agree with everyone else - please use the money for Eric's headstone. I would also agree with the trampoline - my DSis bought one for her children and they have never slept better.
Hester think calm thoughts... think calm thoughts... think calm thoughts.
((((hugs)))) to those who need them - especially Candygirl's DDad, beemuzed and DS, betheebee and DBs, Smoky, Jayward, anniestar, and anyone else I have unintentionally missed.
I have a notion to make some chutney today but will need to google some recipes. I bought a sweet and spicy mango chutney at a farmers market earlier this year and DS absolutely loved it so if I could find a recipe for something similar that would be great.
The pile in the washing basket continues to grow - I didn't get any washing done yesterday as I had nowhere to put the wet clothes when they came out. Will try and make a dent in it today.
Need to pop out to pick up a prescription too and check that DS and DD have all the stationery they need for going back to school next week. Before all of that though, I need tea. So wishing you all a fabulous Friday. xx"Bad planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part."

Smokey - what a lovely idea - that money was given in love and friendship and it really is up to you what you do with it but fwiw i think the headstone is a wonderful idea
off to w8rk in a bit - not looking forward to it - my judge is a bit of a harridan and i have no usher this morning - still it's all one day nearer to dd coming home. i'm knickered this morning due to staying up late too "chat" to someone I met at Reading - oh did i not mention that before - early days yet but it's nice to know there's hope for me yet
I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -
(((Hugs))) to Hester.
Thank you all for your kind thoughts about my Mum and her doll - I didn't want to upset anyone! Doctors wouldn't do that these days but it was different back then! The doll I found is really beautiful - I shall post a photo when I've finished it. She is about 12" tall, with a soft cuddly body and the loveliest sleeping face with cute little painted on eyelashes. I'm knitting an outfit in pink and lavender and have a tiny little baby doll that is sucking it's thumb, that I shall put with it wrapped in a bit of lace. My Mum took great pleasure dressing dolls for us when we were children so I'm really pleased that I am doing this for her.
Squiggly - there are loads of online tutorials for learning to knit if you google. Some of the girls in our group have even learned to knit so that they can take part! I'm so glad I learned (and to crochet, too) because it doesn't half save money on pressies!
Essex-girl - I'm so glad your DH got the 'OK' at the hospital - what a relief.
Welcome back to Sistercas!
Jannyannie - have a great day today!
Donny-Gal - DH and I haven't had another chance to go on DSD1's Wii Fit which gave DH his true age and made me 12 years older! Bloody thing must have been set wrong!
Well, I don't know why I sat down at the computer again - I told myself I'd get my chores done after my shower but I needed a coffee so, of course, that was my cue to sit down here! I think my intention to hit the supermarket by 8.30 has just gone out of the window!
I'll see you all later.

Smoky, I totally agree with everyone else, I think a headstone is a lovely idea. The donations were given for you to use as you see fit xxx
Overcast here this morning, so no washing today. The good news is that overnight my jam set :T We have a plum tree that is on overload, so I made jam yesterday and had a very traumatic afternoon trying to get it to set
Sitting going through the Remoska recipe book, think I will make flapjacks later, and need to do some shopping at Asda.
Have a great day everyone xYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever

Just a tip for those who are having trouble sleeping. I'm like that most nights, even though I have cut out the caffeine from around 7pm onwards, but I have been having drinking chocolate in the evenings for about a week now and have had no trouble getting to sleep and staying asleep. I usually have it with a little milk and water from the kettle but DH thinks I should try making it really milky so I shall do that tonight. I take my coffee black and he's always saying I don't drink enough milk! The drinking choccie I like best is the Co-op's own-brand which is a lot cheaper than Cadbury's and, IMO, tastes much better! My DH drinks tea till it's coming out of his ears and never ever has a bad night!
Byeeee!
