Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
OOOppps: Went to Tesco to pick up some milk, bread, rolls and cold meat for the rest of the week but unfortunately saw a nice jumper I liked and also needed some tights for work and ended up spending £33 - so only have £42 for the rest of the week. We will just have to muddle through, but will go for a walk at the weekend and pick some brambles, so that will do for a crumble as have some old apples to use up, along with some homemade soup and bread should pull things back a bit. made up for the two NSD!!!

Having problems with the Thanks buttons - the computer seems very slow tonight.

Anyway, good evening to everyone. Thought I would do a mid-week post for a change, just to report I was thinking about getting some more bits tomorrow but I did go to Morrisons yesterday, so I think I will resist and try and use up what is in the fridge and garden. I am inspired by all your posts, especially reading about all the NSDs. I had an NSD myself on Monday, very rare, but I took the children out with a friend, and we were so late back that I put shopping off till the morning.

Total so far includes £84 internet shop from Tesco last week, so I think we are doing OK. Just as well as we are broke after the holidays, plus paying for essential maintenance to the house. September will be a lean month!

Scotsaver..can I ask why your mincemeat is going in the oven? never heard of it going in the oven.. wont the suet/fat just melt ?..

MRSMC - I see Shelbel beat me to it but she is right, the recipe I use is from Delia Smith's Christmas book, you put the Mincemeat in the oven so the suet melts and then you remove from the Oven and stir it as it cools to coat all the fruit etc - apparently she recommends this to stop the Mincemeat fermenting allowing you to keep it for longer. Once it has cooled completely then you stir in the Alcohol.:D I always make more than I need as I give some to Family & Friends - I'm the only one who cooks from scratch!!;)

Started a new job on Monday and haven't had much time or inclination to go shopping which is good news. OH bought some FR eggs, cat food and milk on the way home so total spend for Sept is £15. Waiting for a Sainsbury delivery tomorrow evening which will be a big one but will set us up for the month with the staples.

MHE - I also managed to defrost the contents of the freezer by accident when I turned off all the kitchen switches before going away on holiday for 2 weeks. The smell was revolting when we got home but fortunately we didn't have too much of value in there. Really annoying though!

Will update again tom when delivery arrives.
