Managed to get the list on the 1st page :T not as quick of the mark as AngelNikki mind :p

hope everyone has a nice shiney new budget to play with ..well apart from searching me ;) :rotfl:

AngelNikki... you are welcome, I really appretiate you having looked after it whilst my head was all over the place.. well more than usual that is

Ok I'm back already :o remembered what i needed to add... The recipe i posted for the banana n ginger parkin DOES NOT keep for 2 months ... big fibbers  ...Luckily im a suspicious kinda gal..so froze lots and left 1 piece in a box.. and it started to go mouldy today -so the birdies got it ..just in case anyone was planning on doing it -don't want to be responsible for wasting food :p

Thank you to Mrs M and Nikki for keeping us under control - and for getting on 1st page again... :T

Mrs M, hope you don't mind me mentioning, but you might want to put that on your original post, coz in a months time when [strike]I finally get to make it [/strike]someone makes it they may not read the post above... just a thought...

I'd better make sure I keep up, coz this thread moves soooo fast in the first few days of a shiny new thread....

I totally agree about the veg - i need more. I dont cook because we both work 35 hours a week and just go for the easy option. I need a kick up the bum! :o

I work 40 hours a week and my OH works 60+ hours a week, this doesn't mean we have to eat ready meals and a load of frozen food and junk. We both are able to make something for dinner that isn't processed food or similar junk.
Our weekly shop is £35, and OH eats enough for 2-3 normal people a day (no he's not massive or greedy, just eats a lot but is very active so burns it off!). So if you both eat reasonably normal amounts, £30 per week is easily achievable!

You just need to get into a new routine of meal planning and only buying what you need. When you get used to it, it becomes second nature so you will find you also have money left for treats still, we certainly don't deny ourselves chocolate or anything. We don't eat considerably less than others we know, but we do have less wastage and are more healthy.

Also, I find preparation is the key to spending less on food and eating healthier. If you're bored of an evening (as you said), then prepare the evening meal for the following day as much as you can to make it quicker to put together when the time comes.
Plan what you will eat each day, to save the time wasting thinking what to have then opting for burger and chips because you want something quick and easy by that time.
At weekends, or whenever it is that you have some free time, batch cook some meals from scratch and freeze in portions to use when you need them (chilli con carne, lasagne, shepherds pie, bolognes etc).
  • mrs M - can you change my euros to pounds s I'm back in the UK from 4th Sept.

The Meal that Pam tried on Don :-

I tried one meal on him I thought he'd like:

chicken stuffed with pesto and roasted along with roasted vegetables and peppers and a large mushroom stuffed with cheese.

The only thing he liked was the mushroom.

I thoroughly enjoyed all of it.

    Thankyou from me

    and thanks from Pam
