I'm in for £80 this month - off on holidays which come from a different budget and DH is away for most of the rest of the month as well. this will make up for my as yet unreported huge overspend for August
I need the extra cash anyway since I finally have someone coming to refurbish my leaky bay window (yay!) so that's £450 dead...

I would roast it first, then strip it off and use the bone to make the stock.. You get more flavour and colour out of a roasted bone.... I know its not everyones "thing" but does your dad like liver? i love it and its full of iron, goes soft once cooked so wouldn't take much effort to eat ..with a bit of mashed potato/veg
hope it helps..im sure you will get loads of help on here
oohh just a thought what about Ricepud made with full fat milk n a drop of creamwhen my sis was recently very ill it was one of the few things she could/would eat.... oohh HM egg custard..another easy to eat, simple thing with lots of goodness -you don't even have to do the pastry
Ok just spottted he doesn't like eggs..hmmm egg custard without eggs leaves custard..another thing you can cram with cals
Thanks Mrs McC, sounds good - will definitely roast it first. Can't do liver I'm afraid - he was always picky now he's ill he's even worse. Custard and rice pudding sounds good though (maybe not together lol)! I love reading your posts by the way - all your recipes sound great & I'm very jealous if your potio!:D

Hello all,
My first month doing the GC, but please can you put me down for £350 for 2 adults and 2 kids, 5 week month for us as well!
Thanks v much!!0 -
Id say we have the following (we dont have breakfast - we have a snack at 10 due to work hours):
Lunch
Me: Yogurt , w/watcher crisps
OH: Ham sandwhich, apple, something sweet, crisps
Dinner
Me: Quiche, w/watcher crisps, something sweet
OH: Pasty, crisps, apple, something sweet, crisps
Tea
anything from the freezer - chips and burgers, for example - basically we never cook from scratch
OH has a more operating job so eats alot more but we really need to cut back on the cost. we are spending approx £60 a week - to be fair alot of that is chucking in rubbish like chocolate etc for when your board of a night time to munch on! I'd say if we didnt buy anything like that it would be £50 a week but then id crave chocolate all the time - just need to get my fix in another (cheaper) wayxXx0 -
Have a look on the meal planner thread and on the grocery challenge thread, they're good places to start for ideas, and there is loads of advice.
If you have a browse through some of the older threads you will see where various peeps have posted how much they spend and what they buy and the meals they make. If you can find Sammykaye's thread about feeding herself, her oh and her little boy and dog for £100 per month it has lots of info.GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Yikes - this thread isn't even an hour old and we're on page 2?!?
I'll keep posting on August til the 31st when our month ends, but thanks Pink for starting the September thread off.
'See' you in a few days (by which time I'm sure there will be 47 pages to look at!)
safMarch GC: £147.75/£180 groceries + £36.75/£50 meals out
February: £163.19/£180 + £66.14/£50 monthly budget for eating out Total £229.33/£230 :j
January: £170.01/£1700 -
Have you had a really good look at what you are eating?
Where's the fruit and vegetables? I'm not a fan of vegetables but I make sure I eat at least 3 kinds of fruit or veg a day, not the 5 a day recommended but lots better than nothing, ad might replace your chocolate cravings for something sweet?
Old style isn't only about cutting costs, it can also be about trying to eat less processed food that is full off addictive chemicals and things that are bad for you.
Good luck - there are lots of people on here who can offer advice on how to cut back and get healthyer!
