Spent £7.91 today basically milk, yoghurt, cake, a big mushroom, bananas, potatoes, chedder x2 as on offer :) and dips.

Have a veg box and lots of lovely goodies coming on Thursday from Abel & Co (great offer on the shop til you drop board - go via quidco and get £10 cashback on first order then order before 31st Aug, spend £25 and enter code SUMMER25 and you get a free mixed box). Can't wait for it all to arrive!

Also tesco order coming at some point before next weekend.

PS will go and update my sig - I forgot!

Yesterday somebody (sorry too busy to scroll back and find out who) was asking about keeping mushrooms. i can highly recommend the Mushroom Bag from Lakeland which keeps them for an amazing length of time. My bag has definitely paid for itself in the couple of months I've had it. I've lost count of the trays of mushrooms that have gone from fridge to bin in the past but no more!!

  • Hi everyone

Did my first grocery shop for the month today and spent £27.37 which was all my staples and meat for the month so should now only need top ups of milk and fruit throughout the month as I buy frozen veges as they last the longest and the others just go off when you're cooking for one. I also managed to get a packet of 4 lamb chops marked down to £1.45 and two 300 g packets of mince marked down to 99p each which will do me nicely for at least 10 meals.

Have a great day everyone, am busy making some spag bol from one packet of mince and will freeze the spag bol once I've taken some out for tonight. Am really enjoying this challenge.

    Cheers

Blimey! A shiny new thread and seven pages long and I've only stayed away for 1 day!

I nearly had a no spend day today - took my two little monsters to a farm and couldn't resist their produce. Never mind - the plums are lovely. :p

My sister went into hospital today to have her waters broken so hopefully by this time tomorrow they'll be a new addition to the family. I can't believe she's 14 days overdue - she had her 1st baby 3 months early!!! The irony!

Good luck to everyone for this months challenge.

I too will be trying to keep all my receipts as I lost the way a bit this month.

  • Hi All
I'm off sick with chest infection at the mo, so did an Asda shop on line for delivery Saturday night - well I definately won't be painting the town then as I'm coughing too much!!! Antibiotics and alcohol don't mix either!!
Spent the morning peeling apples for the freezer to mix with all the blackberries I have been picking over the last 2 weeks. This should keep us in crumbles and pies over winter, also peeling rhubarb as well.
Have picked over 2lb of tomatoes off the 3 plants this morning with plenty more green ones left.
Will update total shortly, but spent £60 with free delivery and lots of bogofs/offers
Mortgage free as at 1/9/13 :j
To start work on the credit cards now!!
  • Spent £56 today in Mr T and boots, but shoulh have been well over £60 and I got 700 Mr T points as one of my vouchers scanned at 500 pts instead of 50 :j So I hope they don't adjust it!

Now off to amend my Mr T delivery, (hopefully by £56 but you know that it will not work that way ;)

    Hiya lovelies,

I've been a little bit awol from the GC for a couple of months - the thread is SO huge these days! :D

I've still been doing it though - but doing badly!

So this is the month that we get back to grips with it all.

Back to school, Back to reality, back on the wagon and all that! :D

I'm going to make "GC Time" every day to keep up with the thread and hopefully stay focussed.

We're starting this month with a cupboard clear out so I'll see how long I last before I have to buy anything. (Milk'll probably be the first purchase of the month!)

Please can you put me down for £350 Mrs M and I promise to try my hardest to do better than that.

I need to thoroughly research the packed lunch threads as that seems to be a big drain on our finances and the last reason we still buy pre packed instant food such as Muller rice or crisps etc.

Feeling very gung ho at the moment!

    Love Jacks xxx :D
