Thanks0 -
Wow you all sound so lovely on here - can i come live with you :P hehe. My parents have a slow cooker which they dont use so I may nab that one as I remember mum slow chicken and veg - we would have it with new potatoes - absolutly lovely! Im gunna start planning my meals tonight and then go and do a big shop (£30 or under hoping!) and then see what i can rustle up. Thanks again everyone! xx
ps: dont be suprised if you see this headline in the papers 'House in Cornwall burned to the ground...' or 'Man in Bude dies through home cooked food poisening' :PxXx0 -
Well done you.....
Our mantra on here is baby steps ;o)
So one or two changes a week will add up to bigger changes over the months!
I learnt to cook when I was very young - my mother was shocking cook - and I love my food!
I found a dusty old deliea smith cook book - and I'd recommend her books to anyone..... she may seem old fashioned, but her recepies WORK, and this is the most important thing to build your confidence when starting out.
Good luck and let us know how you get on...0 -
Morning all,
Whilst sorting out the toiletries cupboard this morning and working out what i need to buy this month, I've come across 9 Huggies size 4 nappies and wondered if anyone would like as they will just get binned otherwise and it seems a waste especially if it helps with someones shopping budget.First to pm me with their address gets them.

Hiya everyone and welcome to any new challengers! Thanks as ever to the lovely thread looker-afterers and to everyone who contributes as well
I'm struggling to decide on a budget for September - we're going away for 4 days but will be s/c so no change; we also have a party this month but as I have no idea how many people are coming at mo I think I'll leave this out and then set a budget for it nearer the time. The 'builders' are still in this month (that's builders aka dad and OH, not 'the painters') so extra spends there again.
Right, let's go for £95 please- that's for 2 people for food from 1st - 30th Sept. (the animals and household stuff get their own budgets at the mo, for research purposes).
I was wondering, and I'm sure it's been raised before, whether we could put a summary of people's families/what's included next to their budget targets?I'm aware that would be a lot of work so please feel free to shoot me down in flames for even suggesting it :rotfl:I just think it could be a real help to see how others in a similar position to you are managing (perhaps people could buddy up if they fancied?) and would be an inspiration to know that spends really can be reduced over time. Just a thought.
Good luck everyone!The 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

Hi All
Happy new thread
Haven't quite caught up yet as been out and about the last couple of days, but thought I'd post a piccie of my first muffins, made in the tin I got for my birthday.
I used this recipe, though I didn't do the crumble topping as I thought they had enough calories in them already!!! They were deliciousI had to put most of them in the freezer else OH and I would have scoffed the lot
Hope everyone is doing well. I am just about to pop out and do (hopefully) the last shop of my August budget to get stuff for the weekend and ingredients to make cakes to take into work on Monday. You can do anything, make anything, dream anything. If you change the world, the world will change.0 -
