Hi all,
have been very pleased with my August attempt - first one for us! still got a few days to go - F & V and more milk:rolleyes: - cheaper to get a cow!
As we're back to school next week, not sure how packups will affect the spends so will try for £320 this month please.
I buy for me and 2 children, nearly 12 and 7 and a half - both with good appetities but a tad fussy so difficult to stretch meals with mince etc as they are not keen on sloppy food - grr:mad: ! Budget includes food and toiletries/houshold cleaners - seem to be buying loads of vinegar and soda at th mo though thanks to all the flyladies' help! If we do a takeaway that comes from entertainment budget not grocery unless we need to do a bit of juggling!!!
Thanks for all the encouragement and the recipes help loadsSealed Pot 617 - target £150 only managed £27 in 2009!0 -
Third time's a charm. I'm going for 120.00 this month. I went to Mr A last night and spent 35 pounds. Still need a few more bits but then should be ok for a while. I've started looking for the reduced items first and last night I got 2 whole trout for 1.23, they have to be used tonight though but that's fine. OH and I did lots of baking last night so we should be ok for snacks for a bit. We're going on 2 long weekends this month but thats coming out of different budgets. I've also been saving for xmas. I'm so organised. Give it a week and I'll be back to tearing my hair out. Have a great day everyone.TOTAL DEBT £12,212.46/£2000 paid offDebt Free Goal September 2017#106 Emergency Fund £482.53/£10000

Hmmm - well he failed, bless him. Came home with a mars bar each and a pkt of bacon fries for me (crisps are my weakness) so that can't be counted as a no spend day!!
have to get a Tescos order started - We have friends round once a month for dinner and usually we go halves on a takeaway, but my OH wants to cook one of his famous roasts this time, so just in time for our September challenge, we have a joint of beef to buy.. :rotfl: Still, it's a rare treat and hopefully we will have some left for the next day. Going to get the biggest peice we can afford cos it's cheaper than buying pkt ham etc for his sandwiches!
We had the pastryless quiche last night and my OH really loved it! He has been so good about trying new evening meals, I am lucky. (though we still have to have branded coffee and will only accept Clover on his bread etc etc...:D)
Hope you all have a good day - will pop back tonight to catch up on the thread.
Hugs to all

Hi, Have just declared on Augs (we were under for the first time
).
First Sept shop for tomorrow but its quite a small list so lets hope we stick to it!
Thanks for all the encouragement everyone.
I am making the Lidl bread I mentioned a while back,. hand kneeding, and will post a pic and list of ingredients, cost etc when its done. The plan is to have it with poached eggs for a nice tea tonight, followed by apple and blackberry pie. MMMMmmmmmmm

1st spend of september budget.........8.57 in lidl's!
some lettuce, cherry plum toms, cucumber, broccolli, garlic and corn on cobs all half price, chorizo and the bixie(weetabix) cereal as on offer at 1.95 for box of 72...ooo and 2 bags of their choc raisins as a small treat for me and dh.0 -
Tomorrow will be my first shop for two since the OH moved in properly - I have quite a lot of stuff in for me (veggie) and there's a fair bit of meat in the freezer for him so I may be able to stick to about £20-25 on fresh stuff and bits and pieces for snacks.
I'm also planning to attempt the Millie's cookies recipe - this will either be a resounding success or end up in the bin with my tears as my baking skills are useless! Fingers crossed!
Will write a list later today for the bits and pieces that we need and try to stick to it - may need a baking tray too though (see I told you I couldn't cook!)
Anyway, will report back later with the damage!0 -
This is my first attempt at the Grocery Challenge.
Have just been made redundant and have decided to bite the bullet and return to Uni and do Nursing. After bursary etc we will be down by £13k a year. Any tips would be most gratefully received!!
Will be shopping for me, DH, DD and DS - oh, and 2 doggies.
Will try £300.00 for the month
Wish me luck!!!!!!Proud to be dealing with my debt!;)

Goals for this month:
1) To keep all reciepts so I don't lose track with little purchases halfway through the month;
2) Try more of the scrummy recipes
3) Channel the motivation I feel from MRSMs posts as I think you are amazing
and all your posts make me feel hungry lol :T
I went through two sacks of flour last month lol, and that was just white, went through another of wholemeal too. Can't believe it, :rotfl:"Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without!!"Nov NSD: ?/30 Nov Make 10 Day ?/300Get Rid Of Debt: ?/2000 !! :mad:0 -
Can I join in too? Have got try to reduce my spending as we are having an extension built that is nearing completion and lots of people like tilers, plumbers etc will need paying. Also we're expecting our 3rd baby at the beginning of Dec so need to spend less to get ready for maternity pay. I'd like to go for £200. That's for 2 adults, 2 children - 5 and nearly 3. Have got fairly well stocked cupboards so hoping to base as many meals as poosible around what I've already got in.
Wish me luck!!!!
