  • I really like Lidl bread flour, only about 38p a bag.

Thanks MM, wish we had a Lidl! I wonder if Aldi do one of their own at a similar price, will have a look next time I go, unless anyone knows?

I've received a 15% off Ocado voucher in the post today and can't decide whether or not to use it to get part of my shopping and get the rest from Tesco...

Another Lidl bread flour fan here :p but it was 48p a go last week :o Earlier I hadn't been able to get there, so tried MrS bread flour at 48p--bleurgh! It must have been the flour because everything else is the same, both before & after the "experiment"

£6:70 today for hospital car park & newspapers to read in there whilst No2 had treatment..fingers X please that it works & said offspring can get back to work PDQ! :D

Does anyone have any ideas for things to do with breadcrumbs? I have a tub kicking around in the freezer that I made from some guinness bread that was going stale, and I need the space (and the tub!) for something more useful. How would I go about making something like burgers with them? Would it just be mince and breadcrumbs shaped into a burger?

Just spent £8.77 at the pet shop on stuff for the birdies that come to our garden. I think I'll include it in my budget, since it is technically food (and the odd unlucky birdie occasionally becomes food for one of the cats!)
Oh and to the Birds (bigbird) and the Bees (chuckles) I am in Devon too, near Torbay!

I originally PM'd the Bees as wasn't sure this was strictly "on topic", but since I am now posting anyway... I live in Chudleigh (between Newton Abbot and Exeter), so not very far from Torbay!

Edit: Ooo, I just noticed I got another star!!!

I am also a Lidl bread flour fan, and Tesco too. I also use Tesco value SR and plain flour and biccies/cakes etc taste great. I only wish they would reduce the price of the non-white flours as I like wholemeal/brown etc and they can be twice the price (or more). I have been know to use half white and half brown etc to get a slightly more healthy loaf!
Ok, will be back on Friday after the big shop of week 4 (which will actually be quite a small big shop as we won't need much, iykwim), and also to declare week 3 (which as you can see from my sig is pretty much used up, although we are well well well stocked lol!) x

  • Hi all

Finally got a couple of bread mixes from tescos last night but my OH got the final 2 - we have been looking for weeks with no luck. I wanted the granary but they seem rarer than hens teeth around here!

My OH is loving the bread maker and we discovered that if we take the loaf out and let it cool a while it goes crustier which is lovely. He liked the fact he can have 'normal' sized slices rather than the smaller ones we get when I bake bread in the bread tin. Wish there was a place to get those lovely granary 'bits'.. neither of us are a fan of wholemeal bread.

Our loo has somehow stopped flushing so that is a call to the plumber that we didn't need! Can only imagine the cos, but my OH has investigated and he can't see why it isn't working and using buckets is a PITA. (and no, that wasn't just an excuse to add this smilie though what luck to find one with a loo on it, even if it isn't quite suitable!!!) people311.gif

Hope you are all doing well with your personal challenges.

    *Hugs* to all

:grinheart sorry but I just had to use the smilie:D

Another NSD here but it wont last as I'm planning to take YS to the market tomorrow and that usually involves a hefty spend. But I will be a good girl and only buy bargains honest;)

    Lesleyxx
  • Evening everyone - another NSD for me today.:D Just as well as I don't have much left in my budget but only one more shopping trip next week so we should make it.

Had a busy day in the kitchen today, picked some more Raspberries and made them into a nice sauce for the girls Yoghurt, made some Pasta with peppers etc in it as DD1 has decided she would like to try this in her Lunchbox for a change, peeled, cored and sliced some more apples off the tree for the Freezer, made some Courgette muffins after I picked the last 2 from the Garden today, also picked my last Cucumber.:D

Picking off the Tomatoes and bringing them indoors to ripen on the windowsill and this has been doing the trick - they are so nice too.;)

Dinner tonight is Toad in the Hole, Potato Bake using Potatoes from the Garden, carrots, cabbage and Gravy.

    Hope everyone is doing well.:D
