Had a NSD day today and took my packed lunch to work as planned. DH bought some petrol but that was it. Hoping its another one tomorrow-I shall hide away reading a book lunchtime so that I don't spend. It's just a habit after all-I don't need anything. Must do lunches for tomorrow. I really do want to survive this week on less than £40.
*Bigbird* I've not tried freezing it but its generally got a good date on it-I bought 6 bottles of it(24 pints) to last a week.
If I see any pickling onions I will tell you as I'm not too far away-well-Portishead.Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0 -

SFT
Your last post is given as 31 August.
Being really good with GC, managing to use up leftovers, but I keep thinking I am always a day behind what the rest eat.
Have made banana cake and peanut butter cookies at the weekend and lentil soup and mushroom soup last night. Nearly had to bin the bananas, had frozen them and defrosted but did not get round to using them the same day. They smelled good though, so took a chance. DS said he wasn't going to eat the cake as it came from council healthy eating site, and he doesn't trust government food!
Need to get some more milk, frozen peas and bananas tomorrow so might do Costco offers too.
Should manage this month, only one weekend to go, if I am good in Costco.
Good luck to those nearing the end of the challenge.

woohoo! here I am! :hello: :j
Feeling happy today cos I managed to go out :j :T (to the dentist & MrA  ) I'm chuffed cos I had to cancel my last appointment as I was too panicky to go out. So being able to go today is an achievement for me :j:D Went to MrA to get some nappy wrappersfrom their baby event £10 instead of £20ish but they said that they only had two in stock at the begining of the "event" which sold on the first day and they wouldn't be getting anymore in  What's the point of having a two week event that only has stock on the first day? GRRR @ MrA
Had my MrT delivery tonight. Total came to £67.51. Got some market value carrots 48p, sweet potatoes 79p, cherry tomatoes 39p and mushrooms 70p to try. The value baking potatoes from last week are still ok and haven't gone green like their normal price baking potatoes usually do after a couple of days.
Gonna make bolognaise tomorrow bulked out with carrots, mushrooms, courgettes, peppers, oats and see if I can s-t-r-e-t-c-h the 500g mince to 12 portions instead of the 9 that I normally manage to get. If I can, it will be 39p per portion(cost for the full meal including pasta & using beef steak mince) I know I could make it stretch even further! if I used lentils but I cant cook anything that takes longer than 20mins. XOH was upset on sunday that he didnt get more than one sausage in his sausage casserole (maybe it was a bit stingy of me to try and make 6 sausages stretch to 2 meals for 3
:p) so :shhh: dont tell him it will be hunt the meat in the bolognaise too. :silenced: :rotfl:

Hiya SFT :hello: The new guidelines are hereChatty posts that are not related to the GC may be deleted, which is a shame but it is necessary as so many people are now involved in the GC and the thread is getting too long and difficult for a lot of people to keep up
You can PM one of the BGs if you want to know what your posts said or why they were deleted.
Well done on booking your holiday though
Although I thought the guidelines were still just a draft as they havent been added to the first post yet.
I better go update my siggy...

Hi Everyone
GC going well, had a NS day yesterday.
Dinner was weiner schnitzel with cauliflower cheese, cabbage, carrots and potatoes. All veg from garden, cheese was homemade and beef bought in bulk from a local farmer.
So a very frugal day.
This morning is a beautiful early spring day, its 8.30am and the temperature is already 15 degrees.
Have a great day.0 -

I did all sorts with mine to convince them-must have been the most varied lunchbox in the school! Make some "party" food like mini sausages, cheese and pinapple(no sticks)savoury rice. Maybs she can cook some herself-more fun that way!
HI - I have a simialr problem with DD who won't eat sandwiches etc.. so after much weeping and wailing I have decided that as she has a brilliant breakfast - at least 4 weetabix and full fat milk - she's 7!! and we have a balanced tea with plenty of F & V, that the lunchbox can have more or less what she will eat - so we don't waste food that's left sitting around all day at school. So she has some cucumber, grapes, a pepperami or babybel, a small piece of HM sponge - no jame she doesn't like it!! and 2 bourbon biscuits and sometimes a fruitshhot drink. I've decided that the lunchbox police can go whistle and so long as she eats what she has and still works ok in the afternoon, we both end up happy! me cos there's no waste and her because she's had what she wants!
Hope that hepls you poor mum's htat get stressed over fussy eaters! We do have some battles over tea when she won't eat what I've prepared!!Sealed Pot 617 - target £150 only managed £27 in 2009!0 -
Doing quite well only spent £7.80 since Saturday and that has been on bread, rolls cold meat and milk, and we had vegetable delivery today of £10.11That takes my total to £169 so far this month. We were away on a day out on Sunday which OH paid for, so was a NSD as far as the challenge goes. Will need to go into Tesco tomorrow night as need a few odds and ends - no more than a fiver I hope - will print off some coupons later and save a pound or two. Really quite chuffed - have got £131 for this week's big shopping and next. Menu planning will be done for this week and next as I am trying to clean out the freezer.Every days a School day!0

Hi all, spent £6.11 in Asda tonight. I know I said I wouldnt go back there but needs must. I was quite firm with myself and took back two tops I had bought and really didnt need, so got a giftcard for £14.00 and used this to shop. I now have all I need to start making my own bread.
Look out for hot choc sachets reduced to 50p, I like to have something like this in for the grandkids, 20 sachets and it,s orange flavour.
I,m eating out three nights this week all on Mystery Shopping company so wont dent the stocks. Off to update sig.Keep it up everybody!:T:jDabbler in all things moneysaving.Master of none:o

Finally got a couple of bread mixes from tescos last night but my OH got the final 2 - we have been looking for weeks with no luck. I wanted the granary but they seem rarer than hens teeth around here!
My OH is loving the bread maker and we discovered that if we take the loaf out and let it cool a while it goes crustier which is lovely. He liked the fact he can have 'normal' sized slices rather than the smaller ones we get when I bake bread in the bread tin. Wish there was a place to get those lovely granary 'bits'.. neither of us are a fan of wholemeal bread.
Our loo has somehow stopped flushing so that is a call to the plumber that we didn't need! Can only imagine the cos, but my OH has investigated and he can't see why it isn't working and using buckets is a PITA. (and no, that wasn't just an excuse to add this smilie though what luck to find one with a loo on it, even if it isn't quite suitable!!!)
Hope you are all doing well with your personal challenges.
*Hugs* to all

I thought the guidelines were still a draft too - Maybe we could have confirmation Penelope or Pink? Is that why there are not many posts at the moment because they are being deleted, or is it just everyone being good? I know I have posted 3 times today - once to update spend and the other two to reply to someone who replied to me, but as I haven't posted on any of my NSD's, I think I have only been on about 8 times total (will have to check that).
EDIT: Oooh, sorry, 22 times - You will see me no more till I spend (hopefully next week!)
