Good morning everyone!
Frugalswan - good luck with sorting out a venue; I'm sure you'll find somewhere that's perfect.
SnowyOwl - I hope your back starts to feel better. Your work should make sure you have a comfy chair; seating position is so important. I remember in my last desk-based job, occupational health sent someone round to check all our workstations to make sure we were sitting correctly and it made a real difference to several of us. Sitting at the wrong position for hours at a time is not good. When I was a dental nurse I developed neck problems because of the seating position of my chair so I know how important it is. I think it's an employer's duty to provide the right chairs.
Aussie - how is your DGS? I hope he's feeling better. Don't forget a photo of the skirt (with you in it!). If your DH is anything like mine, he'll be brutally honest! Tact is not his middle name!
(((Hugs))) to Smoky, PenPin, Jayward, Beth and her DBs, Moneysavingdiva's DH, Essex-girl's Dad and Candygirl's Dad and anyone else feeling in need of one today.
Churchmouse - :hello: :hello: :hello:
DH has left for work earlier than usual today because he has four days work in Reading which is an hour and a quarter's drive from here. He's been working locally recently which has been great for the fuel costs; he wasn't going to do the Reading job because it will cost a further £80 or so for the week but the contractors have said they will pay for the fuel which is good of them. It also gives me a longer working day so I can get more done!
Today I have to go to the bank and then I'll go to the gym before I come back and get on with work; we have a new charity shop in our village which opened yesterday (was opened by the Mayor!) so I shall suss that out today. We used to have four locally but the rents went up so much that three of them closed down. The premises stayed empty for years so it surely would have been in the landlord's interest to have let them stay on? Anyway, we are back to two so that gives a bit more choice. All in all, within a five mile radius, I must have around eighteen charity shops to choose from! Just shows that there is a need for them, doesn't it?
WM is on, bed made and bathroom cleaned; I need to clear up the breakfast things and prep the veggies for dinner which will be a mini roast using some leftover topside of beef that was lurking in the freezer and stewed blackberries from the garden with plums. The blackberries have been great this year but are starting to go over now.
I must also sort out presents for DS1's birthday in September (37:eek: - how did that happen?!). His birthday is the same day as mine and also the day that DH and I first met so it's a very important date for us! I'm going to get him a heated propagator, I think. He has been landscaping his garden and has got rid of the ancient greenhouse but won't be replacing it until he has finished working out there, so I thought a heated propagator would help get him through the winter. He's garden mad and my grandchildren are just as keen; it's lovely being shown round the fruit and veggie garden by a very knowledgeable 8 year old boy and 5 year old girl! I bought them both kneeling pads and gardening gloves as one of their Christmas pressies last year and they were delighted; this year I shall make them a hamper each with some seeds, seed trays and compost.
Anyway, I've mioliered for far too long! Will call in later.

Morning all,
woke up very head/neck/shoulder achy this morning
Had a couple of nurofen so hoping they kick in soon.
MS-Diva, loved your last post on yesterday's thread - think that just about describes it!!!! (I would quote it in today's but not sure how to do that...!)
Snowy, I was going to say you need to ask for a workstation assessment too, but Floss got there first
Definitely have the day off but see if you can keep (gently) moving too. You might be able to get some more info from this link - and I think you can get a copy of "The Back Book" via your GP if needed. http://www.hse.gov.uk/msd/backpain/info.htm
AnnieBL, hope you & DS manage to clear the air... I still think of your nephew & his wife, hope they are doing ok.
Aussie, yes, pics please of your skirt
EssexGirl, hope your head feels better soon too & good luck to your OH.
Frugalswan, hope you & OH are feeling a fraction less stressed..((hugs)))
Mioliere, I like charity shops but it irritates me so much now when I find they are charging an amount for a something that I could buy in QS or Peacocks at the same price - or they up the cost because something is from Next or similar - they seem to forget they have been given everything for nothing!!!! I know they are trying to raise as much as possible for a good cause, but I am not able/prepared to pay what I feel are quite high prices for 2ndhand clothes. I used to use charity shops all the time a few years ago. A lot of them have started these ranges of "new" items - and having very little donated goods - which I think is taking advantage of their charity shop status. It just means I tend to use them less & less. Anyway, rant over!!
(((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))) to all those needing them. Youngest DD has just made me a cuppa, will turn the computer off & try to relax for a while & let head/shoulders ease a bit. May have a slow day today (for once), perhaps get the BM going to make some rolls.
Catch up later, have a good day all.Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)

Off to work soon, the cleaning contractors have left one office untouched, so I'm going to help my boss clean it out today, so I best wear jeans. Talk about variety, yesterday I was acting PA to one of the deputy heads, today I'm cleaning. Still as long as I get paid I don't care what I do. It's all extra money as I'm not meant to be back till next Tues.
Chicken in mushroom sauce with mash & cabbage for tea tonight.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Got back very late last night as I just didn't notice the time. Ah well. Made cookies because I couldn't sleep - as usual. One of the guys from work has been hunting for apples - so I swapped a huge bag for a couple of jars of pickles
Soon I will have the whole lab converted to OS

Little bear has woken up in a grumpy mood. I think it is a normal phase he is going through, but he normally is never grumpy so I am rather flapping.
I have no deadline for ANYTHING today.
My poor dear heart is suffering so much stress at work, so I thought I would start a spring clean and clear out all the areas that affect him first, so he feels a bit better and less cluttered. I will be working around grumpy little bear, but I am sure I can manage that! It is very overcast here and blowy, but I may even take him for a little walk.
Snowy Owl, is there anyone who is a real 'jobsworth' in the HR department - not with you but taking the attitude that they have to follow the rules? Because I am quite sure that they are actually required to provide footrests etc. I hope you feel better soon.
Mioliere - I agree with you so much about charity shops. I rarely bother now, because the clothes are cheaper elsewhere and to be honest I don't actually need anything. Most of little bear's clothes came from ebay, but it is so much easier and cheaper to buy things like vests for him in Tesco. I hate the 'chain' charity shops which are all sparse and organised. I like to have a good rummage.

Morning all,
Caught up on y/days thread, MONEY SAVING DIVA, I also loved your post you did make me laugh, you have got us summed up.
MUMMYSAVER, I go to Wells market on Wednesdays, it's on from 9 till 2.30. Some good stalls there doing organic F&V, I go about 2.15 when they reduce prices, cheeky I know but I love a bargain. I also offer to buy a crate of stuff, I did this once with Caulies, there were 24 in a box @ £1 each, I offered £10 and it was a deal done.
RMAC, So how did you get on with your list, I didn't paint the ceiling or do the ironing, but did do extra cooking, so don't feel to guilty.
WEBITHA, Warm welcome to you, this place is adictive, enjoy.
Today I'm going to blitz DD2's kitchen, she is 3mths pregnant today. She works as a Nanny from 7.30 am until 6pm with a 30mn drive each way so she is out from 7 till 7 and is struggling to cope with cleaning etc due to being so tired. I've packed Stardrops, vinegar, paper etc. have cooked YS lemon & thyme sos, mash and roast veg for us and DD2&SiL 2b and an apple crumble. Apples from DD's tree. Made packed lunches for them tomorrow.
Right then, off to make a start. I may be gone some time.
Huge (((((((((( Hugs to all ))))))))))0
