If were you i would come up with a cunning plan to circumvent babysitting duties.
Everyone should post their ideas.
1. No
2. Why?
3. I am on holiday and how much will you pay me for my time for babysitting? Double time in cash should do it.
4. I am drunk or will be in about half an hour's time.
5. The kids don't know me well enough and after their behaviour today i don't want to know them..
6. They're yours not mine!
You can tell i have been in assertive mode with Mr.B today!Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Debt now £19,455
Still got toothache
Dentist wasn't open today so left a message on their answer machine asking for an appointment and i'll be calling tomorrow morning too... just before i call work to tell them i'll be in quite late
Updated the figures now (although the loan doesn't come out until the end of the month)
It's still moving in the right direction and i'm hoping still all okay for when my Virgin account promotion ends. It's about a £50 increase but that's only if i can continue to get promotional offers. I think the debt will be gone in 3 years (it bloomin better be!!) and then i might only keep hold of 2 of the cards (just incase).
I guess this is the time to be thankful i have no fashion sense and that i only buy something new to replace something that's falling to pieces. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91
Dad Gift 6k ¦ Savings & Inv Tst: £2,500
Loan 10k: £0 ¦ Dad 5.5k: £2,270 ¦ LTSB: £0 ¦ RBS: £0 ¦ Virgin £0 ¦ Egg £0

Oh what a bundle of laughs that was.
Went to the dentist and couldn't figure out what tooth was the problem, so gave me some antibiotics. The chemist was closed by this time so spent all night up in agony and couldn't sleep. Tried to have a doze about 6:30 and woke up at 8:00 so i had just missed my train. Called work and told them i couldn't come in. Didn't realise how much ibuprofen i had taken through the night (every 4 hours) so could only take paracetamol after that.
Started the antibiotics and was hoping that it wouldn't be too much longer before they kicked in. Caight up on some sleep bit it was still really painful.
Went to work the next day and had to go down to the filing room a few times to pace about and kick a few cabinets. Made an appointment for today. It felt like another tooth was starting to hurt too.
Got to the dentist again this morning and hot/cold tests didn't help us find the problem, they've taken 3 xrays in total - entire mouth, up close of where the pain was first time (dentist said if the pain went away with the antibiotics then i may need an extraction, otherwise it's something else) and finally the tooth that just started to throb yesterday.
He decided to freeze it and drill it as that's the only tooth that seemed to be causing pain when pressed. There was a dead nerve and one still alive so he thinks that's what the problem has been and the pain was diffused. So a tooth from the top almost got me an extraction of a tooth on the bottom!!
It looks like it might have done the trick though - will need a root canal filling once i get back but have a temporary filling in right now. Still a few twinges of pain, but nothing like what it was. Here's hoping.
Going to leave you now.
For 2 weeks!! (How am i going to handle that?)
Better start packing hadn't i...

Hope it doesn't interfere with your holiday and you *do* manage to have a good time, inspite of your brother and his wife's babysitting efforts.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

No toothache and not going on a holiday like that again!!
It started in a mess and didn't really change much from then on, but i think my neices enjoyed it anyway.
Landed in Orlando and it was 93°F - that was the coolest day until we went further south.
I was asked by my brother to write out the directions to the apartment we were staying at once we got to our cars as he had forgotten to bring them, but by the time i did so and went looking for him, he had already gone. My dad's phone didn't work at all in the states even though we had checked beforehand that it should so couldn't contact him. Went to the apartment and tried to call him but it took ages to get the number. 011 (US internetional dialling code) 44 (to identify UK) then the mobile number without the first 0. It was over an hour later that we finally got him there.
Not to mention that both kids got diarrhoea - the little one was leaving a trail of it at the airport when sitting in the buggy going through customs.
It took about an hour for us to get the cars in the first place too. I had to stand beside everbody's bags while they went to the queues, but did they really need to leave them in front of a big advertising board? The heat coming from that thing along with the temperature in the airport was horrid.
Anyway, finally got everyone together and i had to share a room with the 4yo as sisterinlaw wanted to have an en suite room and there were 2 double beds in my room. The others had something like a triple bed - really huge.
That was day one in Orlando. Day two, by the time we got the kids together and everyone showered, fed and on the road, it was almost 2pm. We drove around a little and it was decided to get some shopping. About 2 hours later we got everything unpacked and decided to try to see some sites. Went to Seaworld but didn't get there until 6pm - the park shuts at 7pm.
We paid and got in anyway and went to see the whale show - which was great. Only problem was brother insisted that we sit right at the front in the splash seats. When the walls of water came splashing out, the 2 kids were screaming - i'm guessing they ddn't really enjoy that part of it. Brother loved it though. Went back to the car soaking wet and although the temperature was still in the 80's, was getting dark and there was no sun to dry us off.
Day three, final day at Orlando and we went nice and early to the Magic kingdom around 9:30am. We left at about 9pm. A really long day and the tempereature was incredible - around 97°F. It wasn't until near the end of the day that i was getting p*ssed off that all day my folks and i were only considered as an afterthought and i wasn't going to have gone to Disney and not go on any ride at all. This kinda surprised my brother and his wife for some reason and asked my dad to look after the kids as he had gone on a few of the gentler rides with them too.
Yes i know we were only there for the kids but being told all day "you stay with the bags" or the buggies and not even being asked - okay, i'll blame the heat for getting hot under the collar. The only reason they left was after my dad's back started to play up, but even then it was only when he was really struggling (i had to help him to even stand at one point as his back was so painful) did they even ask if he was okay.
Next day was a long drive south and not much really happening.
Last 4 days of the holiday, it rained so didn't get much done but we did see a few wildlife parks and touristy things. The main problem was getting them out of the apartment - there was no sense of urgency and took ages to get the kids ready. When we went out, any time we stopped for lunch, it was a sitdown lunch - no stopping for just a sandwich. Never less than 2 courses either.
Alot of the time we were out, i was trying to keep an eye out for the 4yo as she has a habit of running off and throwing tantrums if she doesn't get her way all the time. We went to see some aligators and i had to find her and stop her climbing the wall at one of the enclosures to see the aligators better. They told us when we went in to keep a hold of their hands at all times - my brother seemed totally oblivious and didn't see what the big deal was.
We did about 30 minutes of shopping. Went to Macey's (after we ditched my bro and his family as they were adamant that they didn't care about going to shops and that's not why they were on holiday), but as my dad was trying to find a store where he had bought some shoes, but couldn't remember where, by the time we got to the store, it had clouded over again and he hates driving in the rain over there.
All i had wanted to do was a few hours shopping for some cheap clothes and to see our relatives. I did half of that. Was good to see Aunt and Uncle again, she's still a bit rubbery on her pins after her hip operation, but she's doing okay. Not as good as she had hoped, but not too bad.
When in Macey's i had to give my opinion on what belt my dad should buy for about 10 mins, spent 5 minutes browsing, then spent about 15 tring to find mum as dad had had enough by that time and it was pouring with rain.
Can't say it was one of the happiest holidays with brother and sisterinlaw snapping at the kids and each other (at Disney after first hour they had a row and she was asking should she just go home), the kids screaming their heads off all the time - for some reason their folks think that the way to deal with tantrums and bad behaviou is to give them sweets to keep them quiet. Even my folks were stressful and stressed, but in the last few days, i at least wasn't sharing my room. I got a few days rest with the 4yo sleeping on a mattress in my folks bedroom. She is a very restless sleeper, tossing and turning all the time as well as shouting in her sleep. That and the fact that she could unlock and open the patio doors to get to the pool, i was pretty tired of everythign by that stage.
Glad i went on holiday, but definately wouldn't do it again.
I bought only one thing and that was a hat when i was at Disney (not even the ears). I think that's what p*ssed me off most of all - nobody bothered to ask if there was anything i wanted to do and when i did say, was largely ignored.
Decided to blow my spending money on a large lunch at the airport as i wasn't going to use it by that point. My bro and his wife ordered heaps as i thought they would with extra sides and milkshakes, but when the bill came around (they were already out of funds so they weren't going to be paying for anything) the waitress asked if anyone wanted a desert and dad and bro said no, just the bill. I had shown them the diner at the airport and had already told them that i would be taking a piece of their signatory chocolate cake. The main reason we were eating there. They both looked surprised when i overruled them and told the waitress that i would like a piece of chocolate rage tower cake.
The waitress also tried to get me to order something else warning me that it was huge but i was going to buy one thing i actually wanted on this holiday!!!
It was HUGE!!!
Kinda like 3 generous pieces of chocolate cake stuck together - at elast 12 inches long and possibly 1/8 of a piece of cake. I ate a third of it and got the rest to go - hadn't realised we were also running short of time then too, but we were 20 yards from the gate and still had about 5 minutes before boarding.
Got my tooth packed with antibiotics yesterday and it hadn't caused me any trouble at all which was a great relief over the holiday. Will get that sorted in about 2 weeks, but will need to look at how much i may need to pay for a crown. It may be about £200, but i've also saved a little from not travelling in to work for the past 2 weeks or so. Hopefully the bill won't be too painful.
It was a good break, possibly about what i expected from the holiday but won't be doing it again. Just need to concentrate on me from now on without worrying about putting anyone's nose out of joint by doing what i want rather than what they expect from me. Still glad i went though. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

I really feel for you on that holiday George!! I once took my brother on holiday, but included him in everything and would never have dreamed of saying you look after the buggies etc.
In fact he came with us again to Malta before he met his new partner and we spent a lot of the time playing matchmaker..he had a great time. He has a little baby now, so there is hope for you yet young George.Hope that tooth is sorted without too much hassle, hate the thought of crowns personally.:o
Obviously Buffy gets the first PM being of a similar age and all..she has very good prospects tha knows;):D

Right Bob, Buffy's sent me a PM so it's your turn.
(Keep it clean on no more talk of Buffy's prospects. She's a good girl you know).
Got about £50 from my dad for the dollars i gave him and got a small end of financial year bonus from work. (Can't remember if i mentioned it before). They had to do a bit of a fiddle to get it through the books without me paying tax etc on it but that's another £100 so it might not be too painful getting that crown (figuratively speaking).
I'll update again next week once some of the directdebits come off.
Feels like a long week already. How do we manage doing 5 days? I'm knackered already. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91
