Hello, good evening and welcome to another exciting update of the diary.
What news, hmmm, let's see.
Oh yes. Might be getting a 5% pay cut - either that or the very real possibility of redundancy. Not sure everyone will agree to the cut so i'll be updating my CV very soon so i have plenty of copies.
I'm finally going to be able to cancel my golf subscription which is good - never played much for a few years now and could definately do with saving that money.
Heard from my brother (nope not telling parents... unless i need to) - spoke to him on skype as he's working across the pond right now. He doesn't think he'll be able to pay back the full £2k at the end of the month. Not really surprised at that but it does sound hopeful that he'll pay back the majority of it. Another month on the card should be okay, but i'll soon be needing it (the tart that i am).
Just hoping i get another leaflet offerring 0% for 6 months from them though - the £2k is on about 4.9% but they offerred 0% for 12 months if i changed my old creditcard account. Not sure if they're trying to make sure that all their products are covered by the CCA or something but i'm hoping i can get another 6 months on the old card at 0%, transfer back to one of the others after that then hopefully take advantage of the 0% for 12 months when the virgin promotion runs out. A nice easy 2 year plan isn't it lol.
Anyway, going to stay focussed on the more current issues and hopefully keeping my job. Can't let myself get too far ahead of this. So far its working and i'll need to make sure it stays that way.
Hope everyone's doing alright.

Hi George
Just found your thread, sending you :grouphug: s - I have seen you reply to some of the late night emergency posts and have always thought your replies very kind and sensible.
I'm sorry to hear about your Gran. I'll also subscribe to keep up to date with you. Good luck with the transfers. Take it day by day and we are here to listen.

Not too sure what to put here this time. Too many unknowns.
Looks like i'll be getting that 5% pay cut - so that sucks.
Cancelled my golf subscription so hopefully that will take me back up to about my normal wage. Don't think i'll be able to keep making the overpayments i had been making but should be able to cover more than just the minimums.
Had a word with my brother about what's going to happen regarding paying me back. It appears he had spent the money i gave him on his expenses as he said, but then bought shares a few days later for RBS. (the git!!) He thinks he'll be able to pay me back around the 15th - only problem is that since the month before i made the transfer for him i have not had any offers from LTSB as i usually do. Neither for a loan or for a BT offer (they usually alternate). I'll see if there's any change once i clear the card but i'm not holding my breath. Looks like i've missed the boat on this one and he doesn't seem to get that i'm financially worse off because he was more interested in trying to make a quick profit.
He's also suggested the family have a holiday in Florida to see relative's over there (my gran's brother) as we may not get another chance for a while. There's no way i could afford that i don't think but my folks seem keen to go.
Bro also mentioned a defaulted loan he is paying off right now. I suggested he send a SAR to reclaim any charges and to see if the debt was enforcable so he's asked me if i can do it for him. I'm going to put the letters together and get him to send it all off but not sure if he'll actually look at what gets sent if no-one is going to do it for him. He said he'd give me 15% of anything i can save him (oh look, a flying pig)
We'll see what happens.
I've put on a bit of weight recently so i definately need to spend less time on the computer (and more time at work doing work). Just feel totally unmotivated and lethargic right now. I spend all my time at home either on the computer or in front of the tv - the only excercise i get is if i yawn and stretch in the morning and when i walk between work, the train station and home. Need to get off my butt and doing something.
Okay, that's enogh moaning from me. Less than £21k now owed and still no gambling so i guess things are still heading in the right direction. Hope everyone is keeping well and finances are on track.
Take care guys.

Well even though you are feeling lethargic George you are doing very well. It is good news about the lack of gambling as well.:j
Soon be Spring so you can get out and about as the days get longer it will feel less closed in, so to speak. My own personal veiw is that Golf is the ruination of a good walk, so you have saved yourself a bit there and will get to see a bit of scenery now:D Cheaper too:cool:
Don't knock any achievements as you are heading in the right direction and you are an inspired poster and a great help to many folk on here.:DBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Mini update
Brother confirmed that in the next few days he would be able to pay me back. woohoo :T
Then asked if he could borrow more money as he needed to book another flight and hotel. hmmm
As he is getting paid on Saturday i thought okay - last time and we'll see what happens next week. He used my LTSB card to book the flights (£260 odd) but couldn't book the hotel (£500 odd) as the card had been blocked. Seems i don't use it enough and it was flagged up as a suspicious transaction. He managed to sort it out himself (probably could have done the flights too if he's tried) so i guess i saved a bit of money there.
I'll update again as to whether i get the money or not. Getting pretty close to only just managing minimum payments if he doesn't pay - i'll see how much the 5% pay cut gives me this month. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

 Hey George,
Sorry about the pay cut. That's a bit of a bummer. I don't expect it makes you feel the least bit better that it's happening to lots of other people as well at the moment.
I know for myself hearing the latest round of redundancies announced on the news every day just makes us feel even more worried about Hubby getting another job.
Still, I'm posting to nag you young man.I am a little concerned that your kind and generous nature regarding your brother is hampering your efforts to pay off your debts.
Especially as he clearly doesn't understand your situation - or he wouldn't be so cavalier about paying you back when promised.
Can you do me a favour honey, and try to put your own interests first for a little while?
Ok, here endeth the nag.
Take care hon, I hope the salary minus 5% isn't too scary.

Call that a row?
Are you sure you're female??
Just got my wage slip today and the reduction after tax and NI was what i thought it would be. Cancelling the golf membership almost makes up for this so it could have been worse.
Unfortunately my brother does understand the situation. He's had bad debt before and worked through it. He works in finance so understands the accounts angle and all the implications. He just seems to focus more on himself for some reason. If i borrowed money from someone i would make sure the first thing i did was pay it back - with him it's the first thing he would do, as long as it didn't get in the way of his holiday, possibly asking if i can spare any extra for spending money so he can really enjoy himself.
The last time (years ago) that i loaned him money was so he wouldn't default on his mortgage and because of the shift i was working, had to ask for time off from my boss so i could get to the bank. When i phoned him to make sure it had gone through on time, his then fiance said he can't talk right now - he's in the shower. We're going out for dinner tonight.
I know what he's like and can't say i really trust him, but he's my brother. He also won't want me to mention this to anyone so he knows that he's used up all his 'credit' with me. If he can't afford it, i'm quite prepared for him to put it on a card at a ridiculous rate. I'll give him a hand up if he needs it but not a hand out. (He's already had that - £3k that i've written off years ago). I am focussing on me and my debts quite alot but until i get it down to about 4 figures won't be letting up. After that i may try to get a hobby - if i'm not excercising my rump off.
I appreciate you taking the time to give me a lecture Jacks.
