Are you sure you're female?? :p

Just got my wage slip today and the reduction after tax and NI was what i thought it would be. Cancelling the golf membership almost makes up for this so it could have been worse.

Unfortunately my brother does understand the situation. He's had bad debt before and worked through it. He works in finance so understands the accounts angle and all the implications. He just seems to focus more on himself for some reason. If i borrowed money from someone i would make sure the first thing i did was pay it back - with him it's the first thing he would do, as long as it didn't get in the way of his holiday, possibly asking if i can spare any extra for spending money so he can really enjoy himself.

The last time (years ago) that i loaned him money was so he wouldn't default on his mortgage and because of the shift i was working, had to ask for time off from my boss so i could get to the bank. When i phoned him to make sure it had gone through on time, his then fiance said he can't talk right now - he's in the shower. We're going out for dinner tonight.

I know what he's like and can't say i really trust him, but he's my brother. He also won't want me to mention this to anyone so he knows that he's used up all his 'credit' with me. If he can't afford it, i'm quite prepared for him to put it on a card at a ridiculous rate. I'll give him a hand up if he needs it but not a hand out. (He's already had that - £3k that i've written off years ago). I am focussing on me and my debts quite alot but until i get it down to about 4 figures won't be letting up. After that i may try to get a hobby - if i'm not excercising my rump off.
I appreciate you taking the time to give me a lecture Jacks.
Didn't run and hide or nuthin :D

Oh, something to share young George? Sorry about the wage reduction but good about the golf evening it all up.

Re brother, it is hard to get a balance with family. My mum borrowed 5k off us once and it was hard work to get back..in fact we never got the full amount (and there were a lot of other things as well) although she has since made up for it in other ways and to my children..so was her way..but could have sure done with solid hard dosh:o

If it had been anyone else, i would have been harder.

    Families

I thought my brother may have matured a little since we did this last.

    :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I guess i know now. I'll be expecting full payment on Saturday or at least the transfer process to have started. I know i can't be soft with him as he will just try to walk all over me. No negotiation or extension. It's all business here now.

Glad things worked out okay with your mother. For a long time i wasn't sure if i would be referring to him as a brother again. I guess i'm just a big softie though.

Speaking of big softies, i was referring more to sorting out my middle and not having time for a hobby. Why, what did you have in mind?

It's just the way my brain works..:D

I don't really trust my mother with dosh, she is wrigglier than a can of worms and she is good at coming up with excuses and while she never meant to..gave us all coping strategies:o

I remember hiding behind couches when rent man would come calling or wriggling 50p's out of the leccy meter:eek:
Which is why i was always a saver..yep i married a man like my mother..sounds so wrong that:rolleyes: :rotfl:

Yep. all present and correct so I am in fact sure that I'm a female! ;):D :rotfl:

I'm glad I didn't get your back up honeybun - cos I didn't want to kick your @r$e into the next village or anything - I just wanted to gently encourage you to "focus more on yourself" - as you say your bruv seems to be doing.

And let you know that people care about you my lovely. I'm rubbish at keeping up with people's diaries. (I couldn't even keep up with my own!) but with yours and a few others at least I make the attempt! :o:D;)

I hope bruv lives up to his obligations.

    Love Jacks xxx :D

    Thanks for the posts guys.
It helps with the incentive to keep going. :grouphug:

My brother trasnferred 2000 for the money he borrowed. Not sure when he will pay the rest but i've cleared the account now (i think - interest is added daily so just trying to tidy it up)

    Amount repaid 2000

    amount borrowed ###2000
    BT fee ########'''###60
    interest ############4.50
    interest ############0.65
    interest ############8.22
    Flights #########'##264.10
    possibly final interest #'##3.98
    Total############2341.45

Not sure when i'll get the rest but i'm going to make sure it is all paid back.
Just hoping now that they'll offer me a 0% deal or something as i will need to transfer the RBS card soon.

Looked at the holidays as my folks seem to want to go and we've relatives over there too. Just received £1000 from my gran's estate.
Even with this i doubt i'd be able to go so i'm just going to put my foot down and say i can't afford it.

Well that's all my news so far. Had a look at the impact the wage cut will have on my masterplan and it is going to be very close after the virgin card promotion runs out for being able to pay the minimum amounts each month. I'm pretty sure i won't be getting a bonus or payrise (possibly 0.5% inflation rate) so i may need to try cutting back some more.

    Hope everyone's well.

The best deals seem to be with Virgin and MBNA still as they have a minimum payment of £25. Can't see any others that offer something like this but there's a pretty good list of what's available here.

    http://www.stoozing.com/0fees.php

It just depends on what you are looking for - there's also a table on that site that lists the card issuers so you know who you can or can't transfer between. I think i have too much credit available for me to be considered for anything, but i may need to try if LTSB don't offer me anything soon - I'd probably try for the Abbey card, but watch who the card issuer is as they won't allow you to BT to another card with the same provider.

I know what you mean George, i did a credit check and they are saying i am only using 40 % of may available credit..i think i am going to close down some accounts. Some of them are store cards..no i don't use them except for offers and discounts, i got summer oufits last year at a fraction of the cost,20- 40% discount and through quidco..

I am reluctant to let go when i can smell a bargain..as i pay off in full.

    Debt now £20,375

Not sure i like having the diaries seperate. When i post i usually only look at the DFW board so might not look in on diaries that i usually do :(
Some people post queries on the diaries too so they may get lost... we'll see how it goes i guess.

Got on the phone to my brother about repaying and he didn't believe me when i told him how much was still owed - he forgot about the flight i had paid for!!!

Got the money into account today so that's all done and dusted. He even rounded it up to £350 so i made £8.55 - If i take into account how much i may have lost on interest payments as i may not be able to get 0% on LTSB now...

Not even going to calculate how much that is. He still hasn't done anything about that letter i sent him so he could reclaim his loan charges and see if they have an enforcable credit agreement for his defaulted loan.

It takes alot to wind me up nowadays and i was pretty sure this would be the best case scenario i could expect from my brother. Well worth the hassle wasn't it.

Really hectic at work and not feeling very well either.
Can't think of any other news. I'm sure Bob will be disappointed to hear i haven't been working up a sweat in my bedroom yet...

    Hope everyone's okay.
