Right Bob, Buffy's sent me a PM so it's your turn.
(Keep it clean on no more talk of Buffy's prospects. She's a good girl you know).
Got about £50 from my dad for the dollars i gave him and got a small end of financial year bonus from work. (Can't remember if i mentioned it before). They had to do a bit of a fiddle to get it through the books without me paying tax etc on it but that's another £100 so it might not be too painful getting that crown (figuratively speaking).
I'll update again next week once some of the directdebits come off.
Feels like a long week already. How do we manage doing 5 days? I'm knackered already.
:rotfl::rotfl:anything I say is going to ruin my reputation! good on the bonus, Crowns are expensive. I have to pay for the rest of my dental work in two weeks. cannot believe I have the money in the bank. its a shocker!
thanks for your post, hiccups have gone now so off to bed.

Good news on the crown, but it is cheaper pulling you know.:D Less hassle in the future as it will probably end up in a root canal ( just going off Mr.B's experiences..) Job's comforter me you know.
Can i not mention prospects then? Nice young lady and a decent chap who will mind the kids on hols?:D As Ma and Pa larkin would say ..PERFICK.;)
Besides your too knackered for one of my PM's:D:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

New Balance: £18,917
It's been a long week, but at least it's almost over.
There's some change to how Denplan operates so i can't see my dentist for 6 months, which means that if my appointment next week requires me to see him again quite soon, i'll need to cancel my checkup appointment in 6 months time. Also as i recently saw the hygenist, i need to see the dentist again before then seeing her so that will be in about 9 months. Totally baffled by this new system they seem to be using. Looks like nothing but a headache to me.
Anything else happening with me?
Oh, how could i forget - hayfever has kicked in with a vengence. I really wish they'd get on with it and invent a cure already. Tired of being told that yes there is medication that could help you, but we're not going to give it to you because we don't know anything about it. I sounded like i had a bad cold last week with my voice really deep - it was just because i had been sneezing so much.
So it looks like i'm going to be hiding in a darkened room again all summer. Just wish i wasn't so tired all the time. Sneezing the way i do really takes it out of you.
That's enough moaning from me.
Looks like my debt is now under £19k so i've nothing to complain about in that department.
Was talking to my dad about his investments etc after something came on the news. He usually gets about £3k in May from his dividends - this year he got just over £60. He relies on his pension and investments. I have a small reserve built up for emergencies that i offerred him but he says he's not too concerned right now. He is but it's not too bad yet. I think i'll have another word with mother dear to cut the spending a little - you never know, she might listen this time...
Hope everyone else is keeping alright.
I'm in serious need of some beauty sleep so i'll be seeing you. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

Aww George, you are a good son,of course that is the sad downside of all of this savings hit hard and investments disappearing before eyes:o maybe you can persuade your mum to cut back a bit.
Sorry to hear about the hayfever, have you tried prescription meds for it?
Not good that you are having to hide in a darkened room at all plus i would have to get a comment in somewhere;). Have you thought about an airfilter for the bedroom and living room?
I used to hoover every day and dampdust for Mr.B ( not any more, i just let him snivel now)it helped a lot in the evenings, natural remedies are supposed to be good too.
Hope it improves for you. Take care and way to go with the debt:TBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

New Balance: unknown
After my luverly nieces stayed with us for the week, the computer aint working - push the power button and nothing happens. I might try to build my own computer (the cheaper option), starting with a new power unit as this may be the problem, but i'll need to read up on what to do and how to do it so i get compatible components.
Looks like i won't be posting much here for a while except the odd sneaky post at work (which is getting awfully busy now).
Still to pay for the crown etc but the dentist said it would be about £75.

Ordered a new power supply unit (PSU). Cost £42.65 with postage.
This could get expensive if there's more that needs done. Not as expensive as a new computer, but still - why don't computers just last 20-30 years? After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

Well, that was fun - NOT!!
Almost a month without a PC at home
Old balance would have been £18,337
New balance: £17,736
Just paid for my crown on Tuesday which was £70, will get than in about a fortnight. Had a sandwich at dinner tonight and part of my tooth, where the crown will be going, broke. Not in pain or anything but don't know if that's going to affect the crown
Money is still coming out of my account for getting the computer back in working order. Paid for a new power unit to see if that was the problem - new unit inserted and it wouldn't turn on. This meant the motherboard was fried.
Got a new motherboard, CPU and RAM, put it into the computer (after a few other problems, only to find that the mouse and keyboard were also fried. I asked for advice on an emachines forum and got some great help from there.

total of £315.56
Not sure how much a new computer would cost but i guess i really should have a look see.
So that's teeth and computer sorted. Will need to have a look in about a week to see what that's done to the finances, but luckily i had a fair bit saved up as a buffer (i was just shy of my maximum of £1k). I thought that would be a decent amount to have for emergencies.
I did the transfer to LTSB on 6th April, so 6 months from this (6th October), i will need to get another BT offer for. I think i still have about 4 months on the Virgin card. I will need to transfer the funds before the 10th October as this is when the payment date is so i will probably be hit with interest for then so it's the end of August i need to do the transfer.
Grampa's not too good right now - in hospital and they don't know what's wrong with him. Not seen him for quite a while, but phone him every so often. Will not be able to get over until next weekend, but going to make sure nothing else gets in the way of that.
Can't remember if there's anything else - been so long since i've updated here.
Golf fees - they had missed a payment when i cancelled and i chased, eventually told it was such a small amount that i should forget it - i'll forget it when it becomes statute barred
Hayfever - got pills and a steroid nasal spray which seems to be keeping it at bay.
Dentist - there wasn't a change to the fees or anything, just the secretary getting totally confused. The hygienist was too busy so they're not letting her do more than once every 6 months per patient.
Oh, and when they were delivering the motherboard and stuff, they also delivered 36 becks Vier pint glasses. I contacted parcelforce and the courier company that passed it on to PF, but no-ones come to take them away. On that note - i need a drink. (Don't often drink, but this week i will - trying to get the computer working has been a wee bit of a strain.)
Night all.
Hope you're all doing okay. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

Oh George, just read about your Grandpa, hope he gets well soon.
I've just read this whole thread through, and apart from realising what a mug I've been for so long, it's brought home to me how well you've done. I know from other threads that you're doing well, but seeing it all put down over the last year really makes it clear. Your combined debt is now less than just one of them was when you started, that's amazing!
You really are an inspiration.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
You've done really well George - it must be a good feeling to see just how much you've achieved on the debts :T
Sounds like you had a pretty grim time on holiday, why can't families BE families (as in the good ol'e days ) ?
I know how frustrating it is being without your computers n such, still havent got my pc fixed, but at least I did have the laptop .... not that it helped much after I got hit with connection problems  Still, sounds like you've got it sorted, and much cheaper than buying a new one
Take it easy fella
