    Thanks guys.

I hadn't realised it's been almost a year since i stopped and 'fessed up'.
I admit i have done pretty well on reducing the debt, but without the Virgin card being a minimum payment of £25pm i would still have trouble managing i think. And 6k of that reduction is a 'gift' from my dad that he said he would have given me when i got my first flat/house. With the savings and shares that i sold, i think it's about 10k i have reduced the debt by but i'm still paying off a loan from my dad so can't get too excited about it until i clear that. I still feel so bad about how much i have let my folks and myself down with this.

I probably won't really feel like i've achieved anything until i have got rid of the debt (and possibly paid back that gift from my dad). Not sure why, but it's just difficult for me to get upbeat about saying "oh good, look at how much debt i have now". You can tell i'm the life and soul of the party can't you :D

Thanks for taking the time to comment guys. I appreciate it.

    Lurker here checking in.

It must be a really difficult balance to strike between feeling pleased at your achievements to date, whilst not allowing yourself to take your eye off the ball while you are sorting out the remaining debt. I can see why it would be difficult to be upbeat, even though I reckon you could allow yourself just a little :joccasionally.

There are many threads where you have been really supportive and helpful to others here. Here's hoping that karma does what it should, and gives you an easier time while you are clearing the remaining debts.

Btw, I have to admit that I couldn't resist a giggle at the thought of those 36 pint glasses arriving with the motherboard - that's more the size of a mothership in a parcel. :D

    Thanks HB

To be honest i was a little concerned when i saw the 2 boxes with "glass" written on the side as i had been looking at some 'home build' computers and some had a water cooler to cool down the PC. Definately not something you should be trying with your first attempt. Pint glasses on the other hand, i think i know how to handle.

I've been concentrating mainly on the debts and nothing else - because that was the easiest thing to do. I need to lose weight and get fit so that's the next step. Time to start focussing on more than one thing at a time.

I suppose i should really update the diary with how that's going so i have no excuses to just not do it again... maybe. I'll do some research on the best way to go about this for someone that's totally unfit - might as well do this properly and not hurt myself in the process. Yikes, that means a change in what i eat doesn't it. Not going to do a diet, just more healthy eating. (Just had a shiver go down my spine there eeek )

Now that the hayfever's kinda under control i might start that walking and going outside lark.

Not sure about the slimming class - wouldn't want to make you jealous :rotfl:

Just got off the phone to the bank. As i have only recently got my computer up and running again, the last payment to my creditcard may go through late. I did the transaction on Thur/Fri but the money is just showing as coming off my current account today. The payment date for the creditcard is today but the payment isn't showing on there yet

Don't know if this is going to cost me and if i'll lose the remaining 0% period. :(

Looks like it got processed on the evening of the 10th, so no charges. Phew.

Need to get myself organised. Staying up 'til all hours now i have computer access again. I'll need to do some work from home so that should help me focus - a few ours of that and i'll be sick of looking at the screen :D

    Not a good update.

I had paid £70 for the crown, but last week i had to get an emergency appointment with the dentist - part of the tooth had broken off. He packed it with a temporary filling on the Monday, it came out on Friday and another part of the tooth broke on Sunday. Don't know if he'll be able to use the crown now or if i'll need an extraction.

Worse news - had a wobble on the gambling front. Decided to buy some lottery tickets for the big Euromillions rollover, but had put more than i should have in and bought some scratchcards, then bought some more.

Stopped quite soon after but it was completely stupid. Can't even think of why i was doing it. All i can think of was i was being greedy. Cancelled the online account i've had with them but not used for about 2 years. I need to avoid any and all forms of gambling - even the lottery.

So that's a broken tooth that may need pulled instead of a crown and i'm back to square one on the gambling front.

The only good thing is that i still have a buffer saved up and haven't done too much damage to the balance. I need to stop focussing on the debt. I need to look at solutions rather than the problem and not be so defeatest. I also need a damn good slap!!

You're not back to square one on the gambling front. Square one would be chasing the losses till you had less than nothing left, and still wanting more. You stopped, a bit later than you should have done, but you still stopped, and you know you made a mistake. That's a long way past square one.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.
  • Well i will give you a slap for negative thinking..and a boot, because i am feeling generous.;):D

You will get there George. The little things in life are not worth beating your self up about it isn't a step back at all and you are beginning to redress why you gamble. So there:p

  • Hey George!

I agree completely not worth beating yourself up about... it was a slip but a tiny one... and the most important thing is you realised it was a slip before any damage could be done to your SUPER HARD WORK!

Now chin up, dust yourself down and sort yourself out as I need you to be on top of your game for my next slip (on the shopping front)!!! :D
