Thanks guys - i just need to remind myself that i can't do anything online without being extra careful.
Got a serious fright when i checked my bank balance this afternoon.
The loan payment usually goes out on the 20th and the balance had dived today. Was glad to see it was loan payment and not anything else. I know when i bet before, depositing money was a bit of a blur and i couldn't remember how much i had gambled. Almost went into panic mode there. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91
Dad Gift 6k ¦ Savings & Inv Tst: £2,500
Loan 10k: £0 ¦ Dad 5.5k: £2,270 ¦ LTSB: £0 ¦ RBS: £0 ¦ Virgin £0 ¦ Egg £0
Total Owed: £2,270 (+6k) 11/08/20110 -
I'm always doing things like that. Usually, I check my balance on a tuesday with an idea of what should be in there and panic that it's £100 short, then remember it's because the income support is paid on a wednesday, but in my head I just add the different benefits together.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

George - I've just found your diary - spooky how similar your experiences are to mine. Hope things are ok. On the bright side, at least you've been able to get hold of new credit cards / balance transfer offers - the size of my debt means I can't do that
I'm in a minimum repayment / interest covering hole for a good while yet...
By the way, on the lottery / scratchcards - I've been there too! Used to run my office syndicate but it was too tempting so I made my excuses and passed the leadership on to a friend! But I promise everyone on this thread - when our numbers come in, and they will, one day, I'll clear all your debts0 -
Thanks eric.
Have you tried juggling the balances on your existing cards to try to get interest reduced or a BT offer? You can sometimes get 0% for 6 months or a low interest for life of balance on an existing card without requiring a credit check. I think we went over this when you posted your SOA, but you've not posted there for a while {hint hint}
Once you start making some room on your accounts you may be able to transfer some of the blanaces around and clear one of the cards to try to BT with. Did you confirm the rates with the bank to see what was being charged as a cash advance? I wouldn't reduce any of the limits you have - try to use your existing cards and once that is no longer an option, try to get a new card. It is better to have a total limit of 20k and using 80% of this rather than having 16k and using 100% - it makes you look more desperate for credit so there's less chance of you getting it.After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

Saved and printed!
I'll hunt you down Eric!0 -
Hello George !
Sorry to hear about the slip up, but you recognised the situation and stopped it so bloody good for you
So is everything ticking along nicely?

Debts are all getting paid and i've still got some money put aside for emergencies so can't complain too much about that.
Got the dentist tomorrow so not too sure how that's going to go.
Going to try to get to bed before 1am tonight - not having access to a computer really threw me and it's almost like i feel guilty if i'm not on it now :rolleyes:After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

Hi George - thanks - this is your thread, not mine, so don't want to distract from that! But to answer quickly... I'm tackling my Next Directory debt first (down to £250 now) - but that means all my credit cards are still at their limits, I'm still only making minimum payments, and the interest is still huge. There's no way to juggle any of that debt around, and no-one else will give me a new card because I have so much credit already. And the existing lenders won't look at reducing the interest rates because I'm not in arrears. I'm totally stuck. It'll be really slow progress, even after Next has bitten the dust.
Anyway best of luck at the dentist! And Bad Weather, don't worry, it'll be a pleasure0 -
Dentist went okay thankfully. Now i've got a crown, i just need a castle and lots of money
My next task...
IS BLOOMIN IMPOSSIBLE
I had decided it's time to lose weight and to get fit.
Found some sites that should hopefully help with that
To store weight, measurement and food diary details: http://www.fitday.com/fitness/Login.html?_a_Date=1250812800.
For a better idea of how much excercise i'm actually doing: https://www.mapmyrun.com
Only problem is, how the blue blazes do you count calories?
You get lunch from a sandwich shop - they don't have calorie or nutrition information on the paper bag!!
Try searching sites and you're going to basically need to try to piece it all together and hopefully guestimating the right amounts. Then you need to research the viamins your portions might contain.
Not only that, but i don't have a tape measure. Kinda glad about that though. :embarasse
Height 180cm
weight 207lbs
Age 34
BMI 28.8
So i should be taking about 2000 calories per day. Which i am - it's just all the extra that's the problem. I'll need to cut down on the sweets and biccies, but i'll need to also keep track of everything i eat - that may be the hardest part.
Going to start with a few weeks of walking, slowly building up the distance, then the speed - then going to do walk/jog over a greater distance and hopefully build it up to about 10k. I'll need to take it slow as i'm so out of condition i could injure myself if i don't go through the warmup and warmdown steps and start stretching too.
Maybe i should start by clearing my room so i have some floorspace tooAfter falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91
