    Thanks for your post Crits.

As this is a money saving site, I think that we would all be interested to know what you paid for your timeshare, how many weeks you got for that and what the current yearly maintenance costs are. Are there any other charges?

Other supporters of DRI seem to be very unwilling to reveal this information for some reason....

you seem to be contradicting your self,i was warning the person of the hard sell they would incounter if they went to this meeting, you yourself said you didnt buy in tenerife due to the hard sell, they are on commision they want you to buy, if you are going to go into this you need time to think will this work for me can i afford it,hard sell is still out there, you get the cooling off period now but they still make it difficult for you to terminate your contract once you have signed.

I'm assuming you have plucked these tag line out of the air as the first 2 you mention are reputable UK businesses and cannot be classed in the same league as timeshare scams.

I think someone needs to do some research on the companys you discredit!

My grandmother used this company to sell her house and she couldnt be happier, she sold her house and bought a boat (her dream)
You missed out the part where you acknowledge you work for the company.

fyi people, if you wish to make up your own mind

    webuyanycar.com
(never used them but but know people who have and good results)

webuyanycar.com are well known scammers - I know someone who agreed a price on his 6 month old Audi - took it to Carcraft Sheffield (webuyanycar.com) who offered him £2K less than they had agreed - the car was showroom condition he was emigrating to Portugal and his house had sold suddenly so he needed a quick sale of the car. He then took it to Audi in Nottingham who offered him more than Webuyanycar.com's first offer.

They did offer me £17.5K for my Porsche though :rotfl:

    Crits,

I am wavering here. Perhaps you would be kind enough to reply to Spammy's post. As Spammy points out this is a MONEYSAVINGSITE and your kind reply about the costs that you incur would really help prospective buyers to make their minds up. If you do not reply, I am afraid that some readers of this site might think that you are a plant.

Perhaps you are on holiday and unable to reply but some people might think that you are loathe to help us money-saving peeps out.

Thanks in advance for your future input.

    Hi all
Been researching the new European Timeshare Directive as dispplayed on the TATOC site eg
"Whatever the product, whether timeshare, other long-term holiday product, resale or exchange provider, there is a fundamental requirement for traders to provide comprehensive pre-contractual information so that consumers can make an informed choice. This information must contain information and proformas covering the right of withdrawal."
This to me puts DRI under pressure as they did NOT inform any of us of the long-term financial element of their points system. We would not have bought the points if we had been so informed - hence not telling anyone!

    Hi All
Been threatened with the debt collectors has worked the complete opposite with me. I have contacted my MP, my MEP, the Trading Standards and the Timeshare Consumer Association. ALL have been helpful in one way or another and I suggest other Diamond members contact as many organisations as possible who they think may help with this ransom situation.
It appears this company planned for a cyclic recession when they changed the rules. GVC and Sunterra had opt-out rules but Diamond changed them when they took over. The end result was a millstone around the owners’ necks until the year 2054. What a con and a scam! They stop you from selling your points by putting so many hurdles in the way, and then they try to make you pay the management fees for the rest of your lives with threats and servitude. Diamond recognised there was a general global downturn of timeshare ownership and formulated a system to keep their seedy company in business. Let’s say an average of £2000 a year for the Management Fees for the next 50 years. That’s £100,000 per point’s owner towards this company and its management.
There are 100s of 1000s of timeshare owners in this country and I wonder how many are being forced into sustaining this timeshare fiasco?
    I say enough is enough!

My "back of a fag packet" calculation...
Average cost for 9 years accomodation is £1360 per year.(if inc int loss)£1660
Finance cost of £7800 so far.....£12000.
Or loss of interest on £7800 over 9 years £2680
New yearly average could be £2660 every year so far, just for accomodation...........and for that reason i am out.....and so should you be..
Edit to include RCI swap charge another £1000,over 9 years or is that included in your reply ?
    Political?....I dont do Political....well,not much!

    Crits,

The calculations from antenna above don't look far from the mark. Am I right in thinking that you get one week's accommodation for this outlay? You appear to have had a few extra weeks - how much do these cost? Thanks
