Diamond Resorts-is it a scam?

There is a very interesting article on timeshares in the Money Mail this week.
I like this very revealing quote from the manager of a timeshare company in the UK:-
Since then, there seems to be a growing realisation that this is a serious issue that is not going to go away. The timeshare company's managing director, Simon Jackson, said recently: 'The number of people today who want to get out of the system is huge. For instance, grown-up children of owners don't want timeshares passed on to them, no matter how great a time they had there as youngsters, because they fear the responsibility of the management fees and the difficulty in selling, should the need arise.'
And he added: 'While there are still older people who can't sell their timeshare when they need to and don't know which way to turn, is it any wonder the consumer perception of timeshare is so negative?'What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -

31. Creating the false impression that the consumer has already won, will win, or will on doing a particular act win, a prize or other equivalent benefit, when in fact either—
- (a) there is no prize or other equivalent benefit, or
- (b) taking any action in relation to claiming the prize or other equivalent benefit is subject to the consumer paying money or incurring a cost.

If Diamond Resorts do not like to be annouced as scammers they will not like today's episode of Rip Off Britain. The show, the OFT and CAB all describe Time Share and Holidays as either Scams or Rip Offs and advise people to avoid them. If they are suckered in they advise people to seek advice from the CAB or OFT as soon as possible.
Feel free to watch the episode on Iplayer later http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/0 -
Roughnready here is the episode for your enjoyment http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00p6x9z/Rip_Off_Britain_Travel/
Mike Haley from the OFT called these types of companies "Scammers" and also stated that the OFT had not found one of these holiday clubs that is not a bogus holiday club.
To save you watching all of it fast forward to 4.40 minutes (There are plenty of more quotes including the CAB)0 -
timeshare isn't for everyone most people benefit from it hence the reason we haven't got 400,000 members on this site complaining about diamond resorts theres about 2% of the members struggling to make payments, 5% new members who are making use of all facilities with no problems and 93% enjoying 3 to 4 holidays every year all luxury and able to take 5 family members with them at the same time as thereselves. Timeshare is expensive its not cheap but can work out to be a lot cheaper then the high street if used correctly.0

Correct, it is only for people who cannot see they are being ripped off and are making one of the biggest mistakes of their lives.
Your loneliness in being the only poster defending this pack of shysters is perfect testament to that.
Isn't it odd that 93% of satisfied customers aren't here, only the 2% of people who have realised their mistake ??0
