Did anyone see tonight's New Tricks on BBC1 . The episode was called "Death Of A Timeshare Salesman" and featured a very dodgy timeshare owner and a poor guy complaining about rip-off service charges. I wonder if the script writers have been reading this thread?

Saw it, instantly thought of this thread.

I make no apologies for being rude to the Diamond employees, they are worse than scum.

Real scum know they are scum, and act accordingly. Diamond resort employees are scum that actually believe they are not even in the face of a mountain of evidence, they still can sleep at night knowing (and laughing no doubt) that they have conned their marks out of thousands and thousands of pounds.

You know what makes me sleep at night Is knowing that my wife and child are both secured and stress free, Whilst i go out to work and earn a wage for my family and to be honest i don't really care about anything more than if my family will be supported so to be honest with you you arrogant, childish and lower than any other person to browse on this site you have no right what so ever to say who is scum just for working for Diamond Resorts it's a job at end of the day. One that i happen to like and know that aside the few people unhappy I know that I personally have made a hell of a lot more happy.

Check my piece for spelling mistakes i don't care quite simply you people will never understand you just get a kick out of been bigger critics than Diamond Resorts could ever be.

Some people on here generally do need help with finance and then their been pushed aside by the ones on here such as you who just like to make childish commentslike see how many times you can say scum in the same sentence.

Good morning roughanready86. That wage you earn for your family is the result of conning people out of their hard-earned money. Have you no conscience?
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?
  • Yes I have a conscience, No I don't believe I'm conning people. My job has no involvement of any hard sale pressure infact I think you will find that there is no form of bullying of people to sign. The presentation lasts upto 90 minutes with about 20 mins question and answer period. Do you really think the salesmen would earn any money if they was making the potential customers feel like !!!! and wasting there time, somehow I do not think so. Like I have stated in previous threads if you only take one or two holidays a year then Timeshare as a whole is not really worth having. However if your taking 3 or 4 then you will really save yourself a good pretty penny. To make my point clear I have no involvement in sales at Diamond Resorts I myself offer cheap gettaways for people in Lancaster.

roughanready86, could you answer a couple of simple questions for me? Why is it necessary for potential customers to undergo a presentation that lasts for "up to 90 minutes"? If the product is that good, why not post a brochure out to people's houses so they can take time to think about it before committing themselves to what is a very large outlay?

Also why won't you let people go away from the presentation and think about it before signing up. Why the insistence that they must commit themselves there and then?

  • The reason for the 90 minute presentation is that the company or companies that run a timeshare need time to run through how a points system actually works. You see with points you don't only buy a holiday with your points they can be used for room service, drinks, even mini trips.
Timeshare may have bad points but for people who like to garantee themselves a high quality vacation abroad or in their own country timeshare generally have that to offer.
So thats why we run a video of what the points will get you and where you can visit and then you are followed by 20 minutes sales pitch and around 10 minutes to collect your timeshare reward for spending that time. The way Diamond Resorts run it is they give you the rewqard which will immediately put you in a good mood about the company as that is what most people are sceptical about. But by law any company offering gifts, rewards or monies for there time must abide by them rules.

As for the 2nd question im unsure about why they don't allow you to come back after a dry out period.

I think you know the answer to the second question. In the cold light of day, away from the sales-pitch, most people would realise that it's a very expensive commitment they are making and they would cancel. This is the same reason why you just don't post out a brochure to people's houses.

So, to sum up, the only way this product can be sold is by high-pressure salesmanship which would not stand up to scrutiny if potential customers had the opportunity to take time to think about it.

If you ever watch the Real Hustle on BBC3 they often give a gift to their mark as apparantly it is well known by hustlers that by giving a gift to the "Mark" makes the mark feel indebted to the hustler. It then makes it much easier for them to fleece them

It would never happen... NEVER HAPPEN.

Even DRI's own employees aren't THAT stupid to sign up to something like this after talking about it with anyone else.

Why not stop the silly defence of these scammers and openly admit you only work there to pay the bills?
Your loyalty, laughable as it is, will not be rewarded by DRI. They will drop you like a stone when the time comes and think no more of it.
