Advice on buying multi Fuel Stove

Further to my last posting, help again please. OH a bit unsure about the expense of the Charnwood Island II and not keen on double doors. I have now looked at Stovax Stockton 7 (installer says 8 too big dimensions wise) and Clearview Vision 500. Really not sure which one of 3 to go for and dont want false economy. Island is obv creme de creme but double doors OH dislikes. Clearview not as nice looking and Stovax unknow really and wary about 7kw as have been advised 8kw. Ruled out Franco Blege due to problems with back panel cracking apparentley a big problem. Really need to decide and order in next few days to ensure Jan fitting. HELP anyone. Do I go with Island or compromise. Heat is very important as big open plan room with stairs leading upstairs. Modern look room with grumpy OH!0

If you purely want to know which stove is best and which performs best then the Clearview is the clear winner!
It's just whether your willing to spend that kinda money. If you can afford it they're definitely worth it.0 -
Im with CRPhillips - we have a Clearview ourselves and OH is an installer.0

Thanks, that 's just what I wanted to know. Clearview dually ordered now. Can't wait to get warm now the decision has been made!0

I agree with Hethma & CR . I don`t think you will regret your choice.
I have a Pioneer 400 too and it has been brilliant so far. We still have not turned the oil central heating on as yet so it is saving stacks of cash too. (The dragon-in-law is coming for xmas and really likes to be hot so will need central heating for her cage over this period!) Unless I can get the flame thrower working....If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you! :dance:0 -
You wont regret it. I cant believe how controllable the stove is (Clearview 400 like Wonky). I go out and if I come back and its basically ashes, I bung on a few logs, open up the vents and within minutes its roaring away again. We have turned off half our rads now as the heat is so good from it that we leave the sitting room door open and it goes into the hall, lobby and up the stairs (and we have been down to minus 17 degrees recently during the night and minus 10 during the day ).0

We went for a blue Pioneer Oven and are very, very pleased with it. It lights so easily and is very efficient and controllable.
It was expensive but it's the main feature of the room and we are glad we bought it.0 -
You'll get 20 years or more of pleasure from that stove. Good call.0

Has anyone any experience of Aarrow and Valor stoves? Our local shop recommended the Valor Ridlington to us. We have been having a look around online and quite like the look of the Aarrow Ecoburner 7 but havent asked the shop about these yet. Carron was another make mentioned.
I think we are leaning towards a steel stove after reading up a bit.0 -

Looks like there's a definate leaning towards steel Clearviews on this thread and I'd agree with that position having had a low canopy Vision for about 17 years which still looks almost as good as new ....
Using my burner daily during the winter months, I'm obviously biased about the make. However, I really do recommend that you add the Clearview to your list of options to consider. The initial outlay might be more expensive but ......
Whichever make you do settle on, do remember to get a magnetic thermometer as this will help you to control the efficiency of the burn and not operate the stove at excessive temperatures which could cause damage to the stove ...
