I had tortilla wraps as a packed lunch for several years and thought they were great - usually just cheese salad, nothing exotic. However, on a logistical note, beware of wet fillings! Things like the insides of tomatoes or still-wet washed lettuce can cause the wrap to totally disintegrate. If you can put something dry and impermeable (like dry lettuce leaves) as the first layer on the wrap, you won't open your parcel of foil to have a soggy heap fall on your lap.

Also, if a packet (the ones I used to have were about eight wraps to a packet, I think) has been open for a while, the wraps can get a bit dry and start cracking when you fold them. It's not a big problem - I was just a bit more careful when eating them.

I used to put filling on the middle third and fold the two outer third towards the centre, overlapping. Just a tube, essentially. Just remember to hold it up all the way along while you're eating or the filling will fall out of the other end!

As for fillings, I'd second the fact that anything you put in a sandwich you can put in a wrap, but wraps can generally hold chunkier food, more like you'd eat at a proper meal. Perfect for leftovers!
One sensible purchase at a time.

MY son loves 'cheesy wraps' it's just various cheeses cheddar, brie, mozzarella, gouda, edam etc etc grated along with a couple of grated carrots, finely diced onion mixed together (I also add spring onions if I have them in) and add a dollop of mayo, I've found no difference between Heinz which I prefer to any other or the 750ml jar of Asda mayo that is £1, a bit more expensive than smartprice but much nicer I find. Mix it altogether and then spread on a wrap, I sometimes add salad or ham and whatnot but he loves them.

They're also great filled with chicken leftovers, sweetcorn, wrapped and placed in a dish and covered with cheese sauce and then oven baked yummy!

In lunches I basically fill them with whatever I have in whether that be something like egg salad or something as easy as tuna and sweetcorn. Delicious!

you can freeze them, and take then out of the freezer individually. 10s on a plate in the microwave defrosts.

I have wraps every day instead of sandwiches.

I cover the whole wrap with mayo. Then imagine the bottom half of the wrap, then think of a sqaure shape in the middle of the bottom half. I put filling there, I usually have corned beef/haslet or cheese and onion or cheese and marmite.

Then fold the top half to meet the bottom half, then fold the left hand piece over the square of filling then the right hand side over.

    Hope that makes sense :D:o

I do them for the kids

Put mayo on the bottom (or butter for DS) then in the centre put sliced ham, chicken etc. or tuna, cheese. Then I add some salad stuff. I leave an inch or so round the outside

I then fold the 2 sides towards the middle - not quite meeting. Then I roll from the bottom (closest to me) until it gets to the top. Cut in half and wrap in clingfilm. I find clingfilm is best as it keeps it all together.

Having just come back from working in Sweden, we had some for lunch one day. They had folded them like an ice cream cone - kind of close at the bottom and open at the top and stacked them end up in a basket. They were crammed full of stuff (I had salmon - it was delish :D) Probably nice for a party but impractical to carry round in your bag all day.

Beware if you add lettuce, you can't freeze them as you'll just get slime!

I use a tin of drained kidney beans, sliced spring onion and grated cheese, mixed with mayo. If I have some lettuce, I add that too. Tastes so good I have to stop myself pigging out and eating the whole lot in one sitting!
