    PJB,
The additional fare should be the name change fee plus the difference in fare - you say that this is not what they are saying when you call them?

The same flights are still available online and the difference between them and what i paid is alot less than what EJ are claiming is the fare difference when i try and manage my booking.

Unfair Terms and Conditions. The fee is punitive and not justifiable, as per Bank Charges. If banks can only charge £12.50, how can EJ justify £40.00?

'cos banks can issue letters automatically without any human intervention. the cost is 30p for a stamp + printing the letter + an envelope.
changing a name on a flight requires a bit more than that. £10 via the net is not much difference to a bank fee, £20 via phone adds the cost of phone operators and call centres.

It is not £10, nor £20, but £40!

And the very simple reason that this isn't an unfair term is that it prevents people buying cheap flights and then selling them on with an excuse of "my friend can't go now, but another friend can" which would undermine the whole sales method of budget airlines.

e.g John brown buys 4 flights for £30 each way for john, mary, brian and debbie brown.

2 months later the flights are £80 so John sells his flights to the smiths for £45 per flight, with instructions to change the names with a £20 charge only = £65 flights, 4 x £15 profit for john.
Paying the difference in flight cost stops this.

But as i am not selling tickets on and believe that i can prove this in Court i believe that the Term is unfair to me.

I understand why they do this and if i was selling or even giving it away then i would not seek to argue the Term was unfair, but as i am not it will be my assertion that it is therefore unfair and should not apply.

I am sure there is other measures that they could take to stop people selling on that would not effect my position (ie: i could just pay a fair and reasonable fee/charge to correct the error)

I have principles and do not like being ripped off.

Is this what you said to everyone about reclaiming bank charges? In fact did you reclaim?

I say again "CONSUMER REVENGE" is the mantra of this site, i am a consumer and am seeking revenge on a large company that is being unfair!.

ok you dont like being ripped off but i have asked twice now how you booked the flights- online yourself or through an easyjet call centre. as you have not replied i have presumed you yourself made the mistake in which case, if the fare is less than easyjet are charging to change the name it would be money saving to do that.
i dont think charges to put an error (you have made while booking your flights), correct are wrong.
if it is an easyjet call centre mistake then fair enough fight the charges but please please tell us first how the booking was made. then we have all the correct info rather than what you first posted

    Hi
Have booked flights through Easyjet but just noticed that they have booked 2 flights in my name and none in my wifes.
I am sure that this is their error, will they change the name without the extortionate fees they charge?

    Thanks

Whilst i feel sorry for you, and anyone else who has to stump up for a name change and the difference in flights price.

Like others stated it is in theie terms and conditions, that you did tick before you purchased the flight. that is if you booked on line, because we yet have to find out how you booked your flights.

So for ME basically you don't have a leg to stand on.

If these charges are right or wrong, who knows, but they are easyjets rules.

    All companies have different rules.

And i can see why easyjet and ryanair have these in there terms and conditions.

it is to save the middle man from making money.

Easyjet don't know that your not selling the ticket on do they.

I thought that i'd made a mistake with easyjet the other week, i booked flights for 8 friends including myself.

And on one of my friends ticket, i only put here 1st name, forgot to add the middle name, but i was lucky as easyjet do accept 1st names on flight tickets.

If you really want the flight that bad, just pay the difference, if not your head will really be done in.

    I sit back and await
