It's been a dramatic day here! I've been back to the office for the first time in over a week and its taken me nearly two hours to catch up (including getting my work laptop to cooperate with yahoo!). And I worked from home until 12, so was up to date until then !(but didn't get home till 8, so am now very tired...)
Hugs to those who need them, particularly Johanne & Nicki. :grouphug:

Nikki - big hugs to you and your DD. It must have been really scarey for her and you. I'm surprised at the Police not coming out straight away to reassure. But, I guess that's a sign of the times. I think I'd find a hammer to put under the pillow tonight and sleep in DD's room just in case...I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

And for those aircraft afficionados (and apologies to those who aren't into this PARTICULAR type of flying) - here's one very brave lady doing the wingwalk...I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

The window is as secure as it can be - just the outer pane smashed so I went outside and checked what it looked like from out there and it was very obvious especially with the blind down. I've taped a cardboard box on the inside - won't do anything other than show anyone thinking "easy target" that we're aware of the broken window. Also cleared the windowsill off so if someone does try to get in then DD's stuff won't get damaged. DD is worried though so I've got her baseball bat next to my bed and I've promised to beat any barstool who might try something into a mm of their life, an inch wouldn't be enough
:rotfl::rotfl:
Expecting a rather sleepless night, especially as DD is sleeping in with me, so I've got my laptop with me and my OU tutorial DVD to watch along with headphones to I can minimize disturbing DD :rotfl::rotfl:Just glad there's plenty of floor space :rotfl::rotfl:
On the house-hunting front I have in my possession (well, downstairs on the desk) 2 glowing references from my current & former landladies which I was going to drop off at the housing offices in Wigan by 10am:rolleyes: depending on what happens over the window being replaced we'll either go tomorrow afternoon or Saturday morning first thing. I'm sorry but I don't trust Royal Mail not to loose it after the messing around over my CRB form.
Off to try and update AVG now :wave:Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
Oh, I meant to say the landlady has already been out to see the damage (she works/works in a chippy at the bottom of the street) and has been in touch with someone but has to call back tomorrow morning at 9am to arrange them coming out to measure and refit the window.Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0

Nicki - if you can find any large and obvious items to put on the windowsill then do. If anyone is thinking of breaking in they'll want to do it quietly, so a large pile of crockery/flowerpots/baking trays whatever is likely to put them off. And if it doesn't, at least you'll know that someone is trying to get in. If you're really worried about it, make sure your phone and handbag are in your bedroom with you, lock the door and have they keys to hand inside a white sock... that way you can lock yourself into the bedroom, call the police and drop the keys out of the window to them if they turn up! (No, I'm not paranoid
, I was just told all of this after a break in at my last house, when luckily I was out - my neighbour called the police and the culprits were caught in the house)

and the police can't come out to reassure her until 9pm Friday night :mad:
No one was hurt, the people who did it are long gone... nothing they can do. Your lucky your getting to give a statement tomorrow...... would be a waste of resources to send someone round now in all honesty.
Not being funny but ... you know when our car got blown up with the industrial firework they left it sat on a busy residental road for over 2 days with all the doors unlocked (due to the electrics being bust), the windows smashed by the fire brigade and some of our possessions still inside (albeit most were melted into the dashboard which was now a pile of gloop on the floor :rotfl: ) ....whilst they waited for the CSI team to come look for fingerprints!!!2 days it sat there..... Was really surprised it wasnt set alight again in that time by the little vandals who originally done it...and not shocked the CSI couldnt distingush any unique finger prints! :rolleyes: So i think a 24 hour wait for a statement to be taken, where nothing was witnessed, noone was hurt and just a single pane of a double glazed window unit was smashed is a damn good responce sis!
