    I haven't caught up with the thread as I'm off to bed. But first I need to rant

    Flipping vandals :mad::mad:

    About 9pm I heard an almighty crash from DDs bedroom - thinking she'd come out the bed or something I ran up the stairs to find her crying in her bed that something was outside. I look out and some little barstool has thrown something (looks like a vodka/whiskey bottle) at the window and smashed it :mad::mad: Thankfully its double-glazed and only the outside one is broken, but DD is poo scared now (calming down in my bed with her Harry Potter book & a CD on) and the police can't come out to reassure her until 9pm Friday night :mad: My landlady is getting it replaced ASAP tomorrow. :mad::mad::mad:

    If anyone tries anything tonight they better have a death wish cause I will turn them to mush with the day I've had :mad::mad:

    Right, need to check my bank account and then off to bed to calm DD down - I'm going to be paranoid now that someone is going to get in as the window is smashed right by the handle and it will be pretty obvious from outside that its there. :mad::mad::mad:

    I was gutted when I couldn't go to the Sunderland airshow this year for what must have been the first time in about 17 years that I can remember, then found out very few aircraft flew due to the misty conditions.

    I missed it too this year, I was so upset but I heard it wasn't too great as well so never mind, always next year!

    I'm off to look at tomorrow's list, I should have some time in the morning to really get down to it, so long as my headache is gone :cool:

    That must have been so scary for both you and your DD! Lots of cuddles should help I think. Can you do something to the handle to stop it being opened? Broomstick underneath it or something like that?

    soappie, glad you had a nice day. I'm ignorant, but very partial to planes myself. More stories please!

    hex - no tulips???:eek: ok, I'll let you off for the time being! Are you by any chance a Christopher Lloyd fan? That's what got me hooked on gardening in the first place. He was very good at season stretching. For late summer I have: Ceratostigma, Aster Little Carlow, Aster frikartii, Cyclamen hederifolium (my desert island plant), Abelia, Sedums (several different ones, but like Purple Emperor and Matrona best), Nerine bowdenii, Rudbeckia Goldsturm, and two brilliant Heleniums, Moorheim Beauty and Sahin's Early Flowerer (which starts in June and goes on until Christams in a mild year and deadheaded.) Just in case you're reaching for the sunglasses, I don't actually grow those together in the same bed!

    dusty - well done on the painting!

    pigpen - how's your painting coming along?

    Today's trip downtown went better than yesterday, so DD has a bank account and I have completed the EMA forms ready to post tomorrow, remembered the things I forgot yesterday in Boots, and picked up the photos, and also had time to buy some sock wool. I've started this evening, but couldn't find the instructions for the invisible casting on, so I'm going to check that out online before I go any further. I don't feel great today, so have had a lazy afternoon and don't plan to do too much tomorrow.

    nicki a big hug for you and your DD, positive house finding vibes too x With the window is there a way of contacting your letting agent or the landlord to get them to make it safe, or could you call someone out and get them to bill direct to his insurers?
    One day I might be more organised...........:confused:

    Would love a go in an Apache A10:D

    Where I work at the moment, the Apaches are in and out like the cuckoo on a clock on the helipad a few hundred yards away. They are an awesome machine too. Some of the tales the guys I work with tell me about the capabilities of the Apache are almost unbelievable. I keep hinting to various personnel that it would be lovely to have a 'team building' trip in one but so far, the suggestion is falling on deaf ears!
