    Im back

In addition to dr library and park I stopped in at pound saver to look for a bedside lamp(getting tired of walking into walls going to bed). Found a nice smallish one for £3 which also means now I can read in bed:jAlso got a new extension chord for the kitchen and some multiplugs. Treated the gifty cupboard to 2 packs of insence with stunning burners-spent just over £10 in total.

But Im hopelessly  now? I was on Micronor before (pill) and she prescribed Noriday-just called her back to ask her and she says it doesnt matter? Also she wont give me my fluoxitine until she has a letter from my last doctor despite the fact that I had my pack with me. Trying to stay calm about this as I only have a few left in my pack. She actually told me I would be okay without it if I didnt think about it and that really I should be going to councelling instead:mad: She also gave DS hydrocortisone for the eczema but his skin is so broken there was blood on his nappy:confused:
And then again I must ask-how often should I go for a smear? Last one I had was when DS was 6 weeks-turned two in June. She told me it is only every three years because I had my first when I was 18 instead of 25-again ?
Am I really missing something coz she kept saying to me "in this country". I realise I need coaching on culture differences but surely my health is my health no matter where I live?

Oh well-will eagerly await a response from a virtual mum (or sister if you prefer). In the meantime I think Ill put the pot on and get stuck in.

Rach :jfor the new baby-so exciting
Jackie my DS plays on his bed until he gets bored and then wakes us up-the rule is DF gets up during the week coz he leaves earlyish for work and then I get up on weekends.

Hugs polkadot not a good experience and not sure I can help much.

smears tend to be every 3 years here unless you have a problem (NHS funded) I get mine done yearly privately for peace of mind

Pills - sorry not been on one for years but our pharacists are well trained here so should be able to tell you the difference between the brands. He/she would also be able to give good advise on the hydrocortisone.

Fluoxitine - is an AD right? is it prozac? If you are worried you will run out then I would ask to see another GP. If you are coming off you usually need a proper plan not just an airy you need coucelling reply.

    Good luck hun

I really should be washing the walls but am bored and finding it really tough - it looks worse than when I started.

I decided to have a little break to do a bit on the family tree I have started and it is much more fun.

Glad it's going well SSL and your colleagues are pleased to see you. ;)

Polkadot I would be tempted to see another GP within the practice as the one you saw today does not sound particularly and has left you with more questions than answers. As for the fluoxintine I would ring your old Dr and explain what happened at the GP's today, if you need it you need it, end of. She sounds like she has a problem with anyone who is not British born which would be reason enough to ask to be seen and treated by someone else.

Just being nosey, where do you originate from?

Polkadot - Micronor and Noriday use the same synthetic hormone, in the same dose, but are made by different manufacturers. However, your doctor should have explained to you why she was changing your prescription and reassured you that they were the same thing. It sounds as if her interpersonal skills are a little lacking... As for the rest, give your old GP a call and see whether you can have a telephone consultation to discuss the problem - they should be able to email/fax a letter while your notes are being transferred. They should also be able to reassure you as to how to cope if you do have a few days' gap.

If you're new somewhere, or have a lot to discuss, its always worth asking the receptionist to book you a double appointment, that way you know they won't be rushing to try to get you out of the way.

    Good luck.

    Ditto,
first thing they should do is make sure you have enough meds to carry on - my mum was really ill when she came off her tablets too quickly - so she could have made a quick phone call to check everything out first, if she really thought it was necessary and then ask them to fax somehting through to confirm.

It sounds like she has a lot of problems, not just with you not being British born (sorry if you are british born, it just sounds that way and am presuming). You may well be better off with councelling, but you also need to be taken off the tablets slowly and they need to be sure the councelling is working first - she sounds like a Quack to me...

    Thank you ladies

My head is swimming and my throat is all lumpy so I dont remember who asked the questions. Pharmacist explained that what I was on was a combi pill so as to boost my eostrogen (sp) as I have always had an overproduction of pregesteron. After the wedding we want to try for k2 so the plan was to up the needed hormones before coming off the pill. What she has prescribed today is progesteron only-so if I take it-Ill defeat the purpose of the first. In addition to this-changing pills messes with your hormones right? Add that to the fact that I do not have my other meds (and I have tried to get an appointment before so I didnt run out) and you get a hormonal basketcase:exclamati

The fluoxitine is an AD-I was on eglenol and cipromil before-both made me weird (please dont joke with me now that Im weird anyway-I dont think I can take it right now:) ) So I was put on fluoxitine in September last year and DF has never been happier. I had the standard 12 nhs councelling sessions anyway and old doctor decided that the history justified long term meds.
The new doctor is from west africa (says she with an american accent).
I am from South Africa, my mum was born in Battersea so I have been a british citizen since birth. I moved here last year June to be with DF

Update plus some other stuff I have thought of.

    Still to do:-

10 mins in girls room - damage limitation
    [STRIKE]
Mop kitchen, porch and bathroom floors
Tackle my room - including the suitcase
    [/STRIKE]:o
HHI (got a film to watch while doing this - thanks to neighbour)
Put WM on then TD (looks like rain:mad: )
    Prep stuff for tea
[STRIKE]Look at storage options for girls room[/STRIKE]
Order work stuff (will try M&S - need suit trousers in smaller size;) :D ) Looked but will try a couple of shops tomorrow
Make curry for freezer with left over chicken

Polkadot - Agree that you should not be left without your meds. Phone old doctor (if an option) or make appointment for another doctor. Ouch for poor DS and his sore bottom, bless. I would have thought the ointment would have made it sting more. Not sure how old he is but with DD1 I used to leave her nappy off (on change mat with towel underneath) and put olive oil on. Again I think I would with the pharmacist would help put your mind at rest.

    Thanks greenbee

So the pill should be okay then. I had a triple appt-two for me and one for DS. I reminded her of this a number of times and she said she knew that already. She was upset with me because I hadnt seen the nurse first-she didnt say as much but it was clear in the "if you had seen the nurse she would have explained it". Ive been trying to get an appt with the nurse for ages (we've lived here since may and obviously I know I NEED a doctor). She definately did not like the fact that I was not born here.My worry is in the way she kept on about the councelling-she sounds like she intends to stop the meds as soon as she can.
She requested a fax and told me to pop in later to see if it was there and when I called before going back the surgery is closed-both old and new.
