Weekly Flylady Thread 25th August 2008

  • Hi there

I am completely new to this thread but I do need some help in the housework area. Now I cannot promise to do perhaps the things you suggest as I am slightly disabled and so my OH tends to run the house though I do try to do as much as I can. BUT I do have problem with getting on with things.. I procrastinate til the last minute and then have to panic and make calls or write letters or emails or tidy things with no time at all and end up stressing out my poor OH who has to bear the brunt of my panic, or annoy him cos he has to do the things I cannot and I have left him with no time to complete them. (If that makes sense)

So I wanted to ask - if I wrote down a couple of things I want to achieve each week, can I be nagged by anyone/everyone to make sure I do them?? I realise that is not quite the way it works and I am more than happy to encourage and support others, but I wondered if this would be OK?

I feel a bit daft asking actually but I know you will all be nice to me cos everyone always is on the OS boards!

To be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough.
If you can't handle me at my worst then you don't deserve me at my best...

AnW how fantastic is that. Have a fab time and dont think about "flylady" once while your there (like thats gonna happen anyway:p ). Can we have a pic of you at the top of the empire state building??

Tea stuff all prepped so just need to pop in oven. Curry made and simmering away. Back to bedroom for 10 mins tidy and that should do it.

Wonder how monkeys are getting on at holiday club?? Hoping they have enjoyed themselves. Need to collect DD2 tomorrow as she has her pre-school jabs, plus going to see childminder before that. Wonder is she will want to go back after? or if her sister will want to come with us. Its a music session tomorrow pm.

Welcome to Diva - I am sure you doing you own list will be fine. Pigpen would love to [STRIKE]nag[/STRIKE] encourage you with your list - I think she gets pleasure from it (lol!). A nicer bunch of people you could not wish to meet:D .

Rach-congratulations :D on becoming an Auntie and on your bread too :d

Shell big hugs for you and your family,. It is never easy.

Michelle- well done on the breast feeding and agree with everyone that you need to take it a day at a time.

DK Hope you are having fun with the walls. Hope you enjoy your cheese on toast sounds like you deserve it too.

Serena- My two are still small so don't have these worries yet but I would certainly say that you are being very generous with the times you mentioned. Shell I think that your DH has the right idea. I think that when my 2 become teenagers I will look them in there rooms until they get to about 30;)

Polkadot- can't offer any advice regarding medication but wanted to give you a hug (((hug))) I agree (again) with the others and it certainly doesn't sound like this DR has a pleasant manner and maybe ask to speak to one of the other doctors or your old doctor.

AnW's mum- have a great time

  • Hi Diva - welcome on board!

    Rachel - congrats!

Polkadot - can only offer hugs - hth!

    AnW' Mum - FANTASTIC!!!

Have been to work, done 2 lots of washing, level 2 in bedroom AND a 27 fling boogie (I opened DD1s underwear drawers!!!)

Am contemplating tea and baking treats - can't decide over muffins/weetabix brownies or sponge. Might have to do 2 lots - ovens on anyway!

Kids have been great today - DS really enjoyed soccer camp and is desperate to go back tomorrow whilst the girls have had a really girlie afternoon!

Quick question - does anyone need a boys 6/7 white school shirt? DS needed one for a drama workshop in the hollies and I bought an Asda smartprice one, but we need blue ones for school. If anyone could use it let me know and I'll post it your way.

Right - off in search of inspiration! (but looking like a true domestic goddess 'cos Mr T's were selling off Cath Kidson-esque pinnies at the weekend for £2.00)

    See you later

    AnW'smum-I want to come too
Greenbee-thanks hun, he never has any clothes on at home and mostly no nappy. The eczema is all over but worse on his bum. I obviously passed it on to him as Ive had it my whole life, asked gp about that too as I have a nice bout under my bra area and she told me to use what she prescribed for DS or by some canestan(sp). Oh well. Ill give the practice manager a call tommorow.
Moneysaving Diva-Welcome, Pigpen is very good at "encouraging" :) I can tell you you've come to the right place. I got on the board last week and have thus far accumulated a bunch of new "virtual mums and sisters" (depending on who's doing the talking), a stunningly fresh loo, a spring smelling house,an empty laundry hamper and a number of much needed free councelling sessions :)
Having said that-Im going to at LEAST shine my sink, this thing with the doctor has got me so frazzled. So Im going to get a coffee and another bad habit ( Im sorry pigpen :( Ive not had one today though so Im sure you can forgive me-oh and I can only get assistance next wednesday when the clinic is open:confused:) Then I will do some flying (kitchen and lounge and make beds) then Im going to sit down later and open my good food magazine that I just pulled out of my post box:jmmm, havent opened my mail yet:shocked:

Polkadot - you're obviously managing very well on the smoking, even without the assistance (must be pigpen keeping you busy :D ). Maybe you can tell us each day how you're doing - how many you've had (we'll need to know what's normal!) and when you had your first one of the day! I have to admit, I'm an occasional smoker, but that's fine as I can take them or leave them - I do find that I tend to have the odd one at work if I'm stressed (and can find someone to pinch one from as I get through so few I rarely have any on me!). You can always ask pigpen for an extra challenge to keep you too busy to smoke :p

I'm sure you've looked into alternative treatments for both yours and DS's eczema, but if not, there's loads of information around, and your local health food shop may be able to help. (I remember when my cousin was small he lived in France, and was given something that turned his hair purple - I'm sure things have moved on since then!).

I've been to the tip and then I whizzed over to Longton. Dead pleased as I got DS a bike from the Woollies there for £27.49!

Kids were supposed to be going to a friend's house for tea but they've gone out so must have forgot. Now i don't know what to feed them as the plumber is still here my kitchen's in bits and their swimming lessons are at 6 so they need to eat now!
