Nope, definately not! lol, where have you been hiding? Are you wallowing in filth without us?The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
I'm not much nearer, although I did think I could go and buy a folder each for Spanish and French. I'm another one here who loves to have a shiny new folder and a set of dividers...Just don't want to do the actual work involved!
Hehe, does anyone else on here LOVE stationary? I loved it this week going shopping for DS's school pens and stuff, and brought myself ANOTHER pad for my shopping lists - nice hardback long one with dots all over it! I have to avoid the stationary parts because I'm always tempted by pads and folders and stuff....LBM April 2013 - £29,000.00Vanquis CC's PAID - Debenhams SC PAID - A+L OD PAID - Asda CC £783.75Barclaycard CC £1400.78 - BoS CC PAID - Freemans Cat PAIDF/D Loan & CC £1458.96 - Santander Loan PAID - Mum Loan PAIDRBS OD PAID - F/D OD £1026.52Weekly Grocery Challenge - £95.00 budget / spend £-0 -

No, it's not too filthy. Been wallowing in misery with work - I hate it. Just had two weeks off and don't want to go back.
I've been applying for jobs left right and centre but not had any luck so far. Even DH said he thinks I've been working for 70+ hours per week - but I have a cunning plan!;)
Anyway, how is everyone? I've missed you all, but just haven't had the time to do more than a brief catch up on emails and Facebook. If anyone hasn't added me yet, please do.
We've been doing more decorating, working towards moving the study downstairs and DH has been building a raised bed for veg in the back garden. Done lots of good day trips including Bristol Zoo and Longleat, which was amazing.
Anyway - back to my cunning plan........
If I am at home and there is work waiting for me, I'll do it, so I've arranged to be out instead. I'm starting a Diploma in Anatomy and Physiology, a Diploma in Holistic Massage and Welsh Language classes, all free, courtesy of the Welsh Assembly Government, God bless 'em.
My DS did OK with his GCSEs in spite of all the probs we've had. He got a D in English, which he wants to re-sit and a C in Maths, but I'm still fighting the LEA and won't give up yet.DMP mutual support thread No: 433 - Mortgage - £54,556, Credit cards - £4012, Unsecured loan - £3,376, Other - £419

Just having a quick catch up
Serena - so glad your DS got home safe and sound. I can understand your worry and I'm glad he's OK.
I also get IBS, but it seems quite mild compared with most of you. I need to be very careful with red meat, and fried stuff, although fish and chips done in the oven are OK. Mine's mostly aggravated by stress, so I'm not brill at the moment, and also not sleeping without the help of a couple of Phenergan!
DustyKitten - just seen your post re: family tree. It's fascinating, isn't it. Best PC package is one called Legacy Family Tree DeLuxe. My DB is working on ours, but an Aunt died last week and when a cousin called to let me know, not knowing her son had already called, she said she still has loads of Grandparents papers which came when her mother died, so I'll have to make a trip north to pick up. He's found out so much, even getting our Grandfather's RAF record.DMP mutual support thread No: 433 - Mortgage - £54,556, Credit cards - £4012, Unsecured loan - £3,376, Other - £419

One of my work colleagues has been round with her husband so he can look at all my DIY-type jobs that need doing (mainly utility room, but also checking for a leak by the chimney, raising the cold water tank, removing the gas flue from the chimney, tiling the kitchen etc). He's measured up so hopefully I'll have another quote by the end of next week and be able to decide what to do. :j The longer I put it off for, the more chance I have of being able to pay for it too
hex - the table is lovely... if your DH is looking for another project, I need a new kitchen table, and if you run out of garden to do, I'm sure I'm not the only person here who would be happy to let you loose on theirs! I've just looked at mine and the grass has grown an inch since Wednesday:eek: Sadly its raining so I can't do anything more today.
froddington - glad to hear you're feeling better, and well done on the paperwork. One of the perils of living on your own is that its very easy to become a hermit and not talk to people. Going to work/the gym etc. doesn't count - and it can be difficult to get people who are in couples/have families to make the time to go out and do things, so as the single person you sometimes have to work hard at making sure you meet up with friends and family regularly (my brother lives 20 minutes away, but I only see him when I go there...). Try to plan ahead and book yourself in to visit them/invite people over for meals or to stay - once its all booked in then even if you don't feel like it on the day you'll have to do it, and you'll feel better for it. Besides, you don't want your waste of space ex thinking you're sitting at home mopingIt sounds like you know some nice people through your church, so maybe getting together with them during the week is an option - even if its just for a quick coffee or a drink after work.
jjeff & polkadot - I'm making spinach soup (sweat an onion, add about 3 tons of damp washed spinach, wait till its softened, then liquidise to make about half a teaspoon of concentrated spinach puree  ) which I then freeze and dilute with stock/water when I need it. I'm also making tomato concentrate - 2lbs tomatoes, cut them into quarters, cook until seriously reduced, sieve (to get the skins/pips/cores out - I use the centrifuge from my magimix juice in my magimix as a very fast sieve, otherwise you have to peel/core/de-pip first), then freeze. This can be used as a base for soups, pasta sauces, added to ratatouille instead of tinned toms etc. Its a particularly good way of using up the seconds tomatoes that my farm shop sells off later in the year - at the moment I'm buying 5lbs at £1/lb. I'm also stewing apricots (bought lots of sainsbury's basics ones) to freeze so I have fruit later in the year... if only I had the time/energy for a veg plot of my own...
PF - sounds like a fantastic plan. Hope you enjoy the classes, and don't forget to switch your work phone OFF!!!
As for all you stationery obsessives... where do you keep it all?! I have a vast pile of half-used notebooks in my study and am not allowed to buy anymore until they're used up. I keep taking pens back to work, but somehow they keep migrating back here
I still have to do my ironing (probably no more than 15 mins), and sort through and clean another bookcase (I have lots of them, and have only done one so far in the last month).0 -
Pink Fairy -:hello:We missed you! That sounds like a very ambitious list of studies!
nicki, deniseflower and greenbee - another stationery fiend here. There's a paper mill shop in a nearby designer outlet. The walls are lined with box units, and filled with sheets of paper and card in every possible colour. I love it.
pigpen - Do you have a Pukka Project book? I've been coveting one for ages. I don't have any particular plans for it, but I'm sure I could use it if I had one!
hex - I have a winter flowering clematis that has a stem full of flowers. It's supposed to be summer dormant!
I decided to do what I wanted to today, as it's my last day of the holiday. I would have quite liked to go out somewhere like a nursery or garden centre, but am broke, so spent the afternoon in the garden instead, which was probabaly more worthwhile. I have hacked back the tomato plants in the greenhouse, and worked through half my winter border. There is a mahonia in there which drops all its leaves in the summer, everything is gasping under a layer several inches thick, and it also hides the bindweed sneaking in from next door. I'll save the other half for later in the week. That will complete the autumn clear up, and I'm waiting for rain as it's far too dry to plant at the moment. In a couple of weeks I'm going to see about having trellis added to the top of the fence along the back, and then I can replant the border in front.
I have no flying to report, as I haven't done any, and I'm still cross with OH as he hasn't done a single solitary thing this weekend. I wanted the wardrobe finished and the curtain pole put up, which would have taken a couple of hours. He's spent the morning in bed, and the afternoon on the laptop. Wish I could do so little over the weekend!!It is never too late to become what you were always intended to be0 -
Another stationery addict here too. Sent a load of notebooks pens and pencils to DDs the other week. Its mostly pens with me then notebooks.0
