Aren't those incorrect pricings the fault of head office though?

Don't they set the tills & prices centrally.

Would be unfair to punish the store staff for their IT mistakes!

Point of sale and newspaper adverts are set by head office, its up to each individual store to initialise these changes through a price change team. The price changes usually come down at the weekend and need to have a new sel printed to bring them off the system as finalised for each store, any changes that are not done show on the store recap each morning.
Sometimes when there are offers on, the stock is in more than one place, so when the offer finishes and the price changes back again the second location can be missed as so observant people can pick up misprices that way too and yes the customer service desk should give out a £2 card automatically although a lot dont seem to as it does affect the bonus, which is calculated in mid january not xmas.

Have been overcharged twice in M& S this week. Fist time the low fat crisps went through at £145 instead of £1.25 and the next day the creme caramel went through at £1.59 instead of 99p.
I never used to check my receipt but will now.
  • Do all Tescos offer DTD as I've been overcharged in the past, and only received at refund for the item. Also someone said there are posters behind customer service - what exactly do they say, as wanted to check my store has one so I know where i stand.

My sister in law bought a Harrods Hamper, it was keyed incorrectly and she paid £5.60 instead of £56!

To avoid queuing at CS for a refund, I find the best thing to do is watch the price display as each item is scanned. That's also why, if you have a lot of items to unload, it's best to go to a till with a least one person in front of you so that you have time to put all your things on the belt before your turn comes up. That way you are free to carefully watch the display, and can point errors out to the SA to correct *before* you pay.

Those who like getting DTD at Tesco should ignore that advice, lol, but for anyone else or at other stores it can save you some time and trouble.

I had another overcharge last week.... got my refund....then silence... I asked for my £2 giftcard and the cs woman says "I was just about to say that" yeah right! I purposely left a few seconds gap to see if she would say anything!

Exactly what they do at our ASDA - I wait a couple of beats until I realise they think the transaction is over then remind about the £2 gift card ... they inevitably say 'yes, I was just about to do that' ... yeah, right
