Check your supermarket till receipts

For anyone that shops at Sainsburys you MUST ALWAYS check your receipt!! I stopped shopping at my local store in Bamber Bridge, Preston because I spent more time at the customer services desk than I did actually doing my shopping! 9 times out of 10 I would have to get a refund because I was being overcharged especially on items that were on special offer or buy 1 get 1 free. I complained to the management several times but it didn't improve and I now do my weekly shop at ALDI (for the last 3 years). I have never once had to query my bill there...shame on you Sainsburys!! I only ever shop there now to buy certain items for my particular daughter that I cannot buy at Aldi, although I do always get my petrol there as the prices are always some of the lowest to their credit.:j0

White lettering on Tesco blue board - it's the para. which begins 'In the unlikely event that things don't add up......'
Then post any finds on the Tesco misprices Thread here:

I too have suffered with the same problem at Bamber Bridge Sainsburys. Sometimes I have got home before I have checked the bill and had to return to the store. I do most of my shopping at Tesco now and only go to Sainsburys for things I have forgotten as it is my nearest supermarket.
But like you I have spent ages at the customer service desk. They must be making thousands out of people who NEVER check their bills !0 -
I don't normally shop at Aldi but decided to try it and was really pleased with what I was getting, until I got home and noticed that they had charged me £8.99 for a floating shelf, which I hadn't bought. It had actually shown up on the bill, been deleted and then added again. Well ofcourse by the time I am home theres no way I can prove I didn't buy it so just had to mark it up to experience. Will definitely check my receipts in there when I go.Second purse £101/100

Absolutely not, Esther!
You must, most definitely, go back and say simply what you've said here.

You are not alone here. Sainsburys is the worst for mistakes. I always have to check my receipt and end up at the customer services desk waiting an age for them to sort out the error.[STRIKE]30:22[/STRIKE]

I've read this too. I ask for it and also show them a print of the relevant section of their website where this policy is mentioned. Here's the link to their FAQ page which details this policy, amongst other things (last question on the page) :
http://www.asda.co.uk/corp/customer_service/FAQs.htm
'What happens if I am overcharged?
If you have been overcharged in any of our stores we will gladly refund the difference (if you have been overcharged) and give you a £2 Gift card voucher for each productyou have been mischarged for'.
I think it's best to print out this page and carry it with you, just in case the CS people need written proof that this is indeed the company's policy.
HTH
I've been overcharged twice in asda, and at the time i had to get the bus theer and back to get my refund as my husband wasn't driving
I got overcharged for a turkey i didn't buy, and the next time i had sum bloke cashier and he managed to add things i hadn't even picked up! he even did it 2 my friend behind me!
I use www.mysupermarket.co.uk the day before i go shopping and put my list thru that and work out what i will spend, but i have trouble with my husband he always picks up loads of extra bits so my shopping normally comes to about £10 more than what i planned to spend...but i check my reciet and sumtimes sit in car park and add up what he spent just to make sure we haven't been overcharged for anything.....
sumtimes if i'm buying otehr products on top of groceries i often put them on sepratly coz sumtimes that leads to u being overcharged.
i think next time this happens i will be asking for my £2 VOUCHER!0 -
Hi everyone
Can't agree enough with this thread ... have learned from bitter experience to ALWAYS .... ALWAYS check Sainsburys receipts before driving away ... they regularly make mistakes, and this seems to happen across all Sainsbury's stores I've been to...it doesn't seem to be confined to specific stores...
Had a good old nag at customer services last time it happened, and asked them why Sainsburys didn't implement the same double refund scheme as Tesco. They were oooooh soooo incredulous about it, like I was making it up  ....so I insisted that this scheme very definitely exists and that clearly Tescos managers are set performance targets to avoid paying out on their double refund scheme ... and it works ... they don't make anywhere near as many mistakes as Sainsbuys .... and that maybe Sainsburys could learn from them in that respect at least ...?:rotfl:
In general I've been tolerating it as based on the things I buy and having checked on mysupermarket.com, Sainsburys works out cheaper for me each week ....
However if you're shopping at Sainsburys, please do always check your receipt before leaving or their shoddy pricing/till systems could easily add £s to your grocery bill.0 -

She gave me the over-charge on one item and double the difference back on another, as a kind gesture. After feeling slightly like a criminal for pointing it out, I wasn't wanting more confrontation by challenging it. I wonder if the policy is on their website.
Missed this! Don't tell Sainsburys ;-)
I wonder if we'll now see a corresponding increase in pricing errors from Tescos?0 -
